ENGAGE GENERATION βYβ IN A RELATIONSHIP WITH E.ON THAT Β CHAMPIONS NEW WAYS TO USE ENERGY IN THE HOME AND EMPOWERS THEM TO ENLIST OTHERS IN AN ENERGY REVOLUTION
The challenge is to engage with 18-25 year olds, a market that they have not yet been able to interact with. The major design concern for me was that a majority of this age group either do not pay the bills or are unable to choose providers. I had to find a way of reaching a target audience that are predominantly uninterested in things such as energy providers.
My angle was cost, the one thing that struck a chord with all the members of that age group was that they where pretty much all strapped for cash and money was by far the biggest influence on them, the project approaches this in a playful way, looking at how much energy is wasted by leaving appliances on etc. and creating a means of delivering this message quickly and effectively, taking into account the obvious ephemeral nature of the project.
Symbology
Symbology, can be seen as the evolution and the elevation of human language. Β we can trace it from the hieroglyphics of the ancient egyptians to signs of the even the formation of the letter A, it is all rooted within symbology.
Symbols still play a powerful and immediate communication tool in the rise of cultures. Good symbology breaks across the simple confines of conceived language.
Consider reappropriation or how symbolism is reintroduced into culture. The role context plays, tradition, how modern design deals with symbology through iconography and typography. Symbolic moments. Symbolic people. Symbology is to be found almost anywhere.
Explore the unknown and question the confines of what wikipedia tells us.

the Curb
The Curb, is a magazine for a local skate shop. Its initial purpose is to promote the branding and identity that I created for the shop, Curb Boardsports is an independent local business based in Winchester, and as a result a lot of the content is about the local skate scene in Winchester, both to introduce Winchester as a skate-able city and to try and promote skateboarding.
The articles are written in a very informal way to fit with the ethos of the shop, the casual relaxed attitude that they have, that goes with the easy going nature of the sport, casual swearing and slang included.
The font choices that I have chosen are intended to reflect the nature of skateboarding, its very modern and contemporary aesthetic, but with a slightly grubby edge. An acceptance and embracing of imperfection within tricks and skate spots that I think is fundamental to the sport.

Decades
To celebrate 60 years of HMV, the company wanted to celebrate their heritage and tap into the nostalgia that people have for certain decades within film and music, and to celebrate the fact that HMV have been there throughout. We where given the title βDecadesβ and asked to develop a mechanic to illustrate this and a concept that would work across POS, in store, digital and print.
The time machine dial, simply and effectively communicates the decade, and illustrates all the other decades on offer.The concept for the over arching campaign was simply to build on this idea of nostalgia, by using iconic covers and posters to evoke a emotive response from the customer, to create a βdo you remember when...β moment!
