We heard of Bowie’s passing halfway through production on our lego spot. We just had to do a tribute to Ziggy. He was a beautiful alien, and he will be missed.
one more from our lego project. This one was a tribute to Magritte’s ‘The Treachery of Images’
We had a ton of fun painting these fine art parodies :D . Here’s another one of the spoofs we did for our lego project. This one’s Edvard Munch’s’ the scream’. More coming.
We had a ton of fun making lego inspired parodies of famous artworks for the lego spot we just finished. It’s inspired by one of my favourite artists. MONET ! Stay tuned for more legofans and art lovers.

concept art for the Lego spot ! I’ve put them in order of appearance. We had a ton of fun with this. Lego has really bright colors. It was really fun trying to incorporate them into our locations. We tried to create background that were fun, and would pop, while still allowing the characters to read against them.
Sharing the storyboards we did for Lego City’s newest spot with Isobar . These will be airing on YTV with a contest at the end that let’s kids decide the ending (psst. will link to the contest below in case any of you ‘kids’ wanna enter ;) ) Storyboards are essentially the first look at the short. You can time out everything to see that it reads on screen. Considering how much plot we had to fit into such a short timeframe, we were very diligent in boarding things out for this project so the audience had time to read the action before we moved to the next sequence. We also managed to sneak quite a few visual gags and references in at the storyboard stage. See if you can spot them ;) Contest here: http://legoplay.ca/mastercreator/index
hey guys, so I’ve been going nuts for Steven Universe lately. And I hear there’s going to be another Steven Bomb June 15th. So excited !!! Haha, expect more fanart <3 <3 <3 Feel free to make up your own story for this. I pictured Steven and Connie going for a picnic, and Connie’s mom packed samosas. Sharing some of Fraeya’s work. Nice ;D
LADIES OF LITERATURE is an art anthology dedicated to our favorite literary ladies! 100 artists. 100 illustrated book recommendations. Hi guys ! I’m very excited to announce that I’m a part of Ladies of Literature volume 2 ! If you have a moment, please check this out. And if you love women in literature, please consider backing this amazing project.
hey guys, we thought we'd give you a behind the scenes look at what goes into one of our spots today. Here's the concept art for our spot for Meccano. Our inspiration was to create a child inventor’s garage. We wanted to portray Meccano as the kind of toy a young innovator would play with. We ran with the idea of a backyard inventor’s garage - a regular garage, tricked out by a young genius. More coming soon on how we transformed an ordinary garage into an inventors paradise.

our latest spot from Rune. We created a little stop-mo piece for Gain. Pics coming up soon of the production process. Our studio is currently dominated by the set.
Lighting our set
We tried to do as much as we could in-camera. By lighting our set physically, captured physical light leaks and blooms creating a soft and romantic atmosphere. The use of physical camera moves, and depth of field added the final “kiss”, bringing in beautiful cinematic imperfections and maintaining an honest charm. We captured our lighting on-set and used it to effect the CG characters interacting with it. This helped ground them in the final shot and made them look like they were really in-scene.
Set Building Part 2
Building the Fence We whittled pine branches into posts reducing the scale of them as the fence receded into the background. This created a forced perspective. It helps create the illusion that our background recedes further in the distance than it does. This helped us maximize the space we had available to create a much larger world. Birch Trees We wanted birch trees throughout our space. We'd planned on using birch branches but discovered that for us to get the kind of growth you see on a tree ( smaller branches extruding from a larger trunk) we would need large birch branches from the outer extremities of the tree. We were very lucky to be able to source them from a wonderful man called Bruce. We got some massive 16ft branches and trimmed them down. One branch created about 5 trees. House and Mailbox We used a base model kit for the house and custom built a porch, chimney and trim to create a charming woodland cottage. We also created a custom mailbox. The devil is in the Details To add that sense of realism we paid a lot of attention to tiny details. We built small scale bushes with tiny red berries. We littered the ground with berries and twigs. We even added fallen tree branches and a little birdhouse. We tried to create the sense that behind this set is a story. Things live here. People live here. These kind of tiny details are what can really turn a set into a world on camera. Over all this we added a light coat of flocking (fake snow)
Behind the Scenes on 'Gain Snowman' Building the Set We built the set in studio. We cut plywood pieces to scale then layered them with Styrofoam. We decided to build the trees so they were fully pose able. This is so we could recreate the beautiful curved shapes of our concept trees physically. The trees were built with a wire base to which we painstakingly attached every leaf. Once the trees were made, we outlined the shapes we would need to carve into the ground with tape. Then came the fun part; carving Styrofoam. It gets everywhere. Even on the dog.
Pre-production work for our Snowman spot for Gain. For this spot we wanted to create CG characters that looked and felt absolutely realistic, charming and hand crafted. We wanted the audience to see that they had been painstakingly fabricated. We sculpted the details down to depressions and imperfections left by fingers as though they were physically touched and manipulated. Because it was a spot for gain, we paid special attention to the fabrics. The materials had details down to tiny lint fluffy and imperfections that caught the light and sold their believability.
By using CG characters, we had the ability to refine and adjust animation without the need for re-shoots. It also allowed us to achieve fluid arcs of motion ; closer to feature quality, on a much tighter schedule. We tried to maintain the charm of stop motion, but aimed for smoother movement.
