Purely for fun research.
While visiting a religious museum, I came across a wooden statue whose expression immediately reminded me of Zeno.
This type of expression is often associated with what is sometimes called the Baroque devotional expression—an intense emotional state frequently depicted in religious art.
The sculpture was connected to St. Francis Xavier and the theme of Memento Mori ("remember that you must die").
Born into wealth and privilege, Francis Xavier gave up his former life to devote himself to his faith, spending years traveling and preaching across distant lands. In the end, he died just one step away from his destination.
The story of a man who spent his life moving toward a distant goal, only to die within sight of it, seems to echo parts of Zeno's fate.
