Is it hard being a slime during the cold seasons?
At the onset of the cold ssleasons, most of the traditional, or "common" slimes get together and seek out shelter, often in the form of caves. There, we go into a deep and happy ssleep called hibernation, cuddling together to keep warm. As any ssleassoned ssslimeologist can tell you that, like our distant cousins, the Loco Roco, slimes can form together if we want. Sometimes we go to sleep as a whole bunch of little slimes and wake up as a mighty King Slime! Sluuurp!
Naturally, being in a deep sleep and having happy dreams, we slimes do NOT like being woken up during these winter months, leading to the occasional misunderstanding with enterprising humans who want to explore the caves.
On the other ssslide of slime-dom, we have the super slurpy bubble slimes (or, as you old-timers might think of them, babbles) and liquid metal slimes. They don't bother to sslink off to a nice cave to sleep off the winter, staying outside in the cold and solidifying a bit. If it gets cold enough, they'll freeze into the fabulous gem slimes! They type of gem slime is dependent on the type of liquid slime. A King Bubble Slime will turn into a much fancier gem than a regular old bubbly.
Yet other types of slimes, such as the wing slime and well-regarded dragon slime, don't stick around for winter at all, choosing to migrate once it starts getting cold. Those lucky jerks get a vacation in the middle of the coldest times of year! My pal dragon slime, Ssam, always tells me stories about playing on the beach and eating mangoes, so it must be somewhere nice.
Cold isn't a slime's worst enemy, really. Heat is actually much, much harder on a regular slime's body, as our neurological structure is much more akin to an octopus's than a human's. This means that it is spread through our body, neurons suspended in our slimeular humors. Being not entirely well-bonded-together to begin with, the heat makes us puddle up a little, which isn't good for us non-bubble-slimes! It makes it really hard for us to think when we're all melty like that, and sometimes we go into a heat rage. That's why you hear about random slime attacks, despite the fact that most slimes have a very sslocial disposition.
If you're attacked by a slime in the summer, the correct thing to do would be to subdue it and place it in a cool area, hidden from their natural predators, like a the bottom of a well or under some nice shady trees. We also like hanging around the store rooms of castles, too! There's lots of tasty food and drink there, and it's cool.
One time I stayed in a castle for 3 years before they realized I was drinking their mead! Mmmm, mead.... Oops, I broke my pointer.
