So you are prepping for baby and checking off items on your checklist ( this is my favorite one btw). You get to "Bathing" and the first item on the list are those adorable hooded towels. There are elephants, mice, ducks, monkeys and everything cute and cuddly mammal in the world. You want them all, but settle on bear and a monogram hooded towel. Great. Fast forward to when you bath your child for the first time ever. Scared? Nervous? Yup. Don't worry no one knows what they are doing. (Just keep their heads out of the water, clean top to bottom, front to back and don't expose those little ones for more than ten minutes). Now, I'm sure you find that crouching over the tub is not very comfortable - two kids later I still find it incredibly discomforting - so you are relieved when it's over. You grab that hooded towel and then... WTH, how do I, just hold him this way... no hold on... damn you're slippery. You get the picture. I struggled with the hooded towel. Maybe I make things too hard, but I found it was harder than it needed to be. When you are grabbing your little one out of the bath I just wanted to grab the towel, not figure out what side goes where. (Side note: my eldest didn't like anything on his head until he was 20 months). It doesn't get easier when you get them to the changing table either. I found that each corner was just too short. So this time around, after a few baths I jumped on Amazon and searched for something just as yummy, but way more functional and found the muslin towel. Muslin towels are like your favorite Aden and Anais burp towel or blanket. They absorb, they are soft and, most importantly, easy. My son (pictured) absolutely loves them. I definitely suggest adding this to your baby's collection and leave those hooded towels for the pool.
