cheryl is sandy so she and archie are rehearsing summer nights and toni gets the line "cause he sounds like a DRAG" and she and cheryl both know what that line's supposed to be and it's too much so cheryl walks out. veronica, not involved in anything, is just generally miserable because she thinks no one likes her and she and cheryl sing it's raining on prom night about how much that sucks.

archie and reggie take betty to a drive in and they're not sure which one of them she's on a date with. she elopes off with someone else and archie and reggie sing alone at a drive in until she comes back and they have a threesome. it's not subtle it's very obvious.

meanwhile, cheryl and toni confront each other and they make up and sing all choked up between cuts to cheryl and archie singing you're the one i want
