Ruby’s eyes flicked black for a second, her head snapping to look at him so quickly it would have broke her neck if she had been human. “you lost my child.”

Sam rolled his eyes as he scooped Scarlett up and handed her to her mother.

“....why were you in the makeup aisle anyway?” Ruby raised an eyebrow, holding Scarlett gently on her hip. She tried to pry the brush from her hands to no avail. “really kiddo?”

“I’m supposed to be a terrifying, soul-less monster from hell.” Ruby winced when Scarlett shrieked loudly. “how did I end up watching two toddlers play dress up, fighting over the pink dress?”

“Well when you actually buy makeup for her to use it with, I’ll be worried.” Ruby rolled her yes. “You say No an awful lot to struggle saying it to her.”
