I want him to become bug-like and freak the hell out of Nami and Sanji.

Simon starts to mutate into a tree/fish creature, but something funky happens during the whole travelling to a different universe. He ends up being a centaur.
Why? Because I think it would be funny for Rocky to gloat that both he and the new human have the same number of limbs and Grace doesn't.
I do love the art of of long hair Sanji.
I must confess though, I often picture him begrudgingly wearing a hair net when he cooks.
I would appreciate if tumblr actually functioned correctly, so that when I click not intested in blog/community, it would stop showing me those blog/community.
I don't want to block blogs, just because I'm not that interested in their posts, but tumblr keeps shoving them in my face.
Flambae dies, taking the bullet for Robert. It's OK, he gets better. Turns out he is an actual phoenix and comes back to life in a burst of flames. No one was aware this was a thing, including Flambae.
He dies a couple of times after that, not on purpose. Not really. Dying hurts like a fucking bitch, which he would prefer not feeling. It's just, if someone on the team is going to take a deadly blow, might as well be him.
The team doesn't like it when he does it and it's not like he can hide it when he dies. Each time he dies, he gets more bird features. Mostly feathers.
His peacocking makes more sense when he gets tail feathers

One Piece 1188 spoilers!!
Well shit. I'm really worried about the crew. I don't know how they are going to get Luffy out of there, or how he will survive that attack. That is a lot of blood. Lilith is still on Elbalf, maybe she can help Luffy alongside Chopper.
With how scared the Holy Knights seem to be of rain and how Jinbei was able to block Imu's attack (fucking amazing by the way!!!), I wonder if water may be Imu's weakness. The last panel could be a clue, with how similar it looked to when Crocodile stabbed Luffy. It would also make sense why the WG tries to keep Fishmen underwater. They have a style of fighting that utilities water, which they could be weak against.
I sort of want Killingham to lose control of Zaza and she saves the crew. Idk, have Sanji somehow turn an enemy onto their side again
The Straw Hats could lose here. It might be why Zoro and Sanji are fighting the opposite opponents people thought they would fight. It might be a way to highlight where their weaknesses are and get Zoro and Sanji to work on them.
Second time skip, maybe?
I didn't realise how big Ragnir is 🥲 They are so cute.
It is such a shame that Loki is dead. Sometimes, it's like I can still hear his voice.
I'm still worried about Kuma.
Brook, I need you to get out of there. IMU HAS HIS EYES ON YOU!!!
When people say that they miss pre-time-skip Sanji, I'm curious as to why. Is it the nosebleed thing? Are they anime watchers only? Do they not like him to begin with, so don't really pay attention to the good that he does?
Fishman Island is the weakest arc for Sanji since the time-skip. That being said, we learn that he can do the following:
1.Run under water (Blue Walk)
2. Light himself on fire underwater
3. Sky walk
4. Has developed a range attack (again, why are the cook and doctor the weapon less close-combat fighters of the crew?)
Punk Hazard people don't like, because of the body swapping. There are still good Sanji moments though.
He helps Kinemon, even though everyone wanted to leave Kinemon behind. Even when Kinemon is an asshole, Sanji still helps him
Sanji shows that he was able to use Observation Haki and sky/blue walk in a body that is not his own (confirms that his feats are not due to Germa mutations, but from will power and technique. Some people down play his past feats, stating that it was all due to Germa, even though he didn't start mutating until Wano)
He was able to hear that Tashigi was in danger another part of the lab. Zoro was confident that Sanji could handle the situation, despite being worried when he found out Luffy lost his first fight against Caesar.
Yes, Sanji's leg cracked when against Vergo, but he was previously hurt when Nami was in his body. He succeeded in defending Tashigi and the G-5 marines in a narrow corridor. (Vergo needed Smoker and Law to team up to be taken down)
He runs at the back of the Marines, kicking them out of the deadly smoke. He puts himself most at risk to save marines!
Leads the G-5 to Chopper to help save the kids. This involves him not interfering Zoro's fight with Monet. Also telling the Marines that Tashigi will be fine with Zoro, as he is a softie.
Cooked for everyone after. (Once everyone is safe after a fight, both Chopper and Sanji are the ones to likely keep working when everyone is recovering)
Sanji wasn't in Dressrosa for long, but managed the following:
Got Viola to feel safe with him. That is a huge feat, considering she has been with Doflamingo for years. It must have been so hard and scary for her to trust someone, especially a guy. Viola's help was vital for Dressrosa to succeed
Defended the crew against Doflamingo. Was ready to die against Doflamingo if it gave his crew the chance to escape
Technically part of Dressrosa, but we didn't find out until Zou. Sanji orchestrated a plan to escape Big Mom's ship. That was impressive as fuck.
Wasn't in Zou much, but he still did stuff.
With the crew, helped the Minks recover from the poison and fight off the remaining of the Jack Pirates. Befriended the Minks, that they are visibly upset that Sanji was taken
Saved the crew from being taken by the Firetank pirates and being used as blackmail.
Bullied Caesar multiple times
Whole Cake Island. That's it. You don't need me to go into WCI anymore.
Sanji isn't in the first act of Wano that much, but he was a busy boy that arc.
Opened up a Soba shop, which had a massive line of ladies
Page One starts terrorising citizens in the Flower Capital, in retaliation to Franky, Sanji and Usopp beating the shit of of his guys when they wasted food. Sanji wanted to help the innocent people so bad, that used his raid suit. The raid suit that he hated, as it tied him to his family.
Saved Otoko with Zoro
Saved Momo
Helped Luffy get to the roof, so Luffy could save his energy for the fight against Kiado. Jinbei then helped, so Sanji could leave to help a lady he thought was in trouble. (I like to think this was a show of trust between Sanji and Jinbei. Sanji can leave to help other people, as there are people he trusts to protect the crew)
The Robin help me scene. That scene means so much to me and I will fight anyone who thinks that is a bad scene for Sanji
Am I ham to you?
Fighting King and Queen
Mutated, had a meltdown, made a death pact and kicked ass
I'm running out to steam here. But he did a lot in Egghead.
Took S-Shark punch to the face
Bubbled Kaku
Saved Bonnie
Kicked Kizaru's light beam
Kicked a couple of Elders
Got bit by a giant horse, got back up and continued helping everyone escape
Elbalf is not over yet, but stuff is happening.
Idk, I feel like Sanji has accomplished so much since the time skip. There has been so much character development with him as well. It's been fun to watch him grow.
Sure the nosebleed was a bit much in FMI, but I don't hate it as it was actually needed for the plot. (I've made a post on this) The perv gags are a lot tamer in the manga. It's usually a panel and not the main focus, the anime does exaggerate it. Look, I have seen other perv type characters in animanga. The bar is super low. Sanji is tame in comparison.
I understand how Sanji talks to the Okama, turns people off. Completely understandable to not like him because of that. I only look pass that, as he seems to treat them similarly to how he treats the Baratie staff. The Candies all came to drop him off at Sabaody, so I feel that they like him and know that he is just a brat. They were noted as potential blackmail against Sanji in Zou, which means he cares for them. Both Sanji and Iva mention each other in conversation too, so I do think they like each other.
I probably just coping, but at least I am aware.
I do like Sanji in the pre-time skip too, but people seem to see them as separate people. I live Sanji as whole, from introduction to current.
I always forget that Iva is a chef.
I'm sorry Iva!!!
Sanji finally getting a wanted poster with a good picture, except it's for Mr Prince.
He has 2 wanted posters. One is for Black Leg Sanji, a Wing of the Pirate King with a ugly photo. The other for the vigilante Mr Prince, with a stunning photo.
Sanji is conflicted.
Finished painting the Gear 5 Luffy figure I made. This is a redo of one of my first figures I made. So here we have my first attempt at Gear 5 Luffy next to my latest attempt. I think it's been about a year between them, maybe closer to 2 years. It's rewarding to see the improvement.
Thank you One Piece for inspiring me to get creative again 😊

I'm still annoyed that OPLA didn't include Sanji sacrificing himself for Luffy and Nami in Drum Island. Admittedly, I didn't watch Season 2, but I know he fell off the cliff, rather than throw Luffy and Nami to safety. I'm not sure if this is correct, but apparently the change was due to pacing and not being able to translate Luffy carrying both Nami and Sanji up the mountain, without it looking goofy. The Sora scene was apparently added to still give Sanji an emotional scene. Again, not sure if this it true. If it is, major L for the screenwriters.
Out of the arcs they have adapted so far, Sanji should have attempted to sacrafice himself, 3 times. At the Baratie for Zeff, Arlong Park for Zoro (jumping into the water so Zoro didn't) and at Drum Island for Luffy and Nami.
OPLA has not shown that characteristic of Sanji, once. It is one of his main traits, that actually has massive impacts on the story. It still has impact on the story. A thousand chapters later and it is still a thing! I just don't understand why that was cut. Fuck pacing issues. If it is a core trait of a character, you make it fit, no matter if it messes with the pacing.
It's worse that Toei. At least they keep all those moments in. Sure they might undermine them later, but they are still there.
On a separate note and this is just a me thing, LA Sanji flirting makes me more uncomfortable. He reminds me too much of the guys that hit on you when out and about, minding your own business. The Universal Stuido Sanji does not, as he is goofy with it. Idk, LA Sanji feels like he is trying to chat you up. The other feels like he just enjoys giving compliments, but tends to go over the top.
Again, this is just me. It might just be the winking.
Can someone just call Zeff and get him to tell Sanji that he loves and is proud of him. I feel like that could help with some things.
One Piece 1187 spoilers!!
So both Kuma and Gaban had ONE conversation with Sanji and immediately clocked that he has self-worth issues. Two people who just happen to be really good dads.
Kuma tried to help, by sending Sanji to his best friend Iva, who is all about self love and acceptance. Gaban just doesn't have the time to give Sanji a pep talk.
I've seen a few people say that if Sanji unlocks COC, that he will get black flames.
I wonder if his body can actually take it. When unlocking Ifrit, he said that his mutations is what allows his body to withstand his flames burning that hot. Could COC flames hurt him?
I wouldn't put it pass Sanji to finally unlock COC and have it hurt him somehow. That he manages to let go trauma and become a king, but it still hurts him.
One Piece 1187
I'm a bit worried where Sanji's mind will settle on as being 'king'. Will he give into the mutations? He made a point on mentioning that he can't fight Zaza as she is a woman. Will he end up fighting her?
Hopefully he finds a good thing to settle on as being 'King'. Maybe Robin can help him, realise something(I think she is one of the ones closest) I would love it Robin fought Zaza actually.
I love Zoro's confidence in his crew, especially Sanji. It reminds me of how confident in Sanji, Zoro was in Zou. Hopefully it won't end up in a similar way.
Luffy not wearing shoes, is wierd to me. No Luffy, you need your unbreakable sandals!
Nami, you can't say that about Brook and Franky!
I'm so excited to find out what will happen next

I am sometimes reminded that the man that turned his nipples into lights and added a nose button that changes his hair, is the same man that has the blueprints of an ancient weapon, memorised.
I need their to be a joke if Franky were to ever make the weapon and use it, where he says "had this in my back pocket for a while." Only for him to not be wearing pants. It would be stupid and cheesy. I love that shit.
I'm just so sick of people saying OPLA is better than the manga
I know it's a matter of opinion and people are entitled to their opinions but it really pisses me off, especially when people state it as if it's an objective fact or something
I feel the same.
I feel with most Netflix adaptations, the writers know how to hit story beats, but not character beats. If you don't have the same character beats, the story doesn't feel the same.
I can put up with a bad story, if I love the characterisation and world building. If a story premise is really cool, but the characters are flat, I'll drop it.
Idk, the characters felt less complex in the live action aimed at adults in the 2020's, than the animanga aimed teenage boys in the 90's/2000's
Yeah, they streamlined everything so much, which they of course had to do if they wanted to do the whole East Blue saga in 8 episodes, but I can't help but go: okay but did you have to try to do everything, though?
I suppose Arlong Park is the part that everyone loves the most so they had to get to Arlong Park to hook people.....
And since the current trend with Netflix is to make easily digestible content, they had to spell everything out and fit the story and characters into established models and remove as much complexity as possible
We have to make clear that Luffy is a Good Pirate(tm) so the audience doesn't get confused by the fact that the mc is a criminal, and we can't have him being mean to people who aren't villains and his whole thing just becomes dreams and supporting everybody's dreams all the time like it's his activation word or his hyperfixation
And of course his story ends up becoming all about proving himself to his grandpa, who just sorta let's him become a pirate I guess???? Because he laughed kinda like Roger or something???? What the fuck
Either way why does Luffy need Garp's blessing for pirating, what's the point of that plotline? Okay I know what the point is, the point is that they wanted to include Garp and give Koby and Helmeppo extra screentime but they couldn't just have the marines be an unrelated sideplot, because that's Bad Writing(tm), so they had to force them into the main plot.
Because Netflix shows are not tv shows, they're eight-hour movies. Instead of just embracing the format of an episodic adventure with a serialised plot developing in the background, they have to force it into a model where there is a clear main plot and everything has to build on that main plot and we can't just have independent episodes
And that's why the marines kinda end up becoming the Main Plot, because they're the thing that's always there... except the conclusion to that plot falls so flat and undermines the finale and muddles all the messages and all the characters' stories
Season 2 is less bad because they actually gave themselves more time and actually did something with the side characters, but it also ends up having an even less satisfying finale because they still tried so hard to turn it into an overly long movie and there just isn't conclusion to it because the conclusion doesn't happen until Alabasta. So the big conclusion ends up just being that Vivi finally accepts the Straw Hats' help and tells them the true identity of Mr. 0 which is... a guy who has never been mentioned before.
I just don't think One Piece (or A:tLA for that matter) fits into that format of an overly long movie. It's a story that's about the journey and the characters and the themes more so than the plot.
It's not that the format is fundamentally bad or anything, it's just not the right format for One Piece (or A:tLA). It's not that you can't make a One Piece movie, but it pretty much has to be a self-contained adventure. But these days nothing is allowed to just be a self-contained adventure, especially not if there's a popular IP to exploit.
And they could have used the 8 episodes differently, it's actually not a bad amount of screentime, if they had just spent it on focusing on the Straw Hats (and the actual cast of the East Blue so the Straw Hats could make some actual personal connections to the people they meet and the places they visit instead to the entire East Blue feeling like just a backdrop to pirates and marines running around fighting each other). And if they had cut out the pointless marine subplot entirely.
But I guess they couldn't justify the budget they would need for all this without making it more epic and cinematic and more like one big movie... because episodic stories are unpopular nowadays
And I mean I guess it did succeed regardless, although I truly don't understand why. I still don't know why people liked OPLA, it baffles me
... sorry about the incoherent rant, I just can't get over it because I keep hearing people praise OPLA and I keep hearing people talk about how it "improved" things... and I don't get it. For the most part at least, I guess there are a handful of things that I did like better about OPLA (like actual variation in skintones for example), but they aren't enough to save it for me, and constantly hearing about it and needing to be polite about it is driving me insane
I have too many friends who like it and this blog is basically my only outlet for expressing my OPLA hatred orz
Also I do just hate trends in screenwriting that it embodies too, I hate streamlined writing, I hate characters spelling out the story for the audience, I hate the weird ass moral double-standards of both needing to be more edgy but also at the same time more palatable, etc.
Rant away. It is refreshing for me to have someone share the opinion on OPLA, that isn't positive.
I never got Garp being in the show. It doesn't make that much sense narratively and is massive spoilers for anyone that used the LA to get into the animanga. He did not need to be there to drive the plot forward. It can do that perfectly well on its own.
Luffy hears about Zoro and Coby wants to be a marine-> group goes to Shell Town
Luffy gets caught by giant bird (showing just how dangerous the seas are) -> Zoro cases after him and ends up in Orange Town
Too many people on tiny boat-> Go to Syrup village to get bigger boat
Need a cook after Yosaka, almost dies of scurvy-> go to thr Baratie
Nami steals the Merry-> go to Arlong Park
None of this needed the Marines to push the plot forward. Garp was not needed. He was not wanted by Oda. Oda was 'persuaded' into allowing the team toinclude him. The Marine are the bad guys in the East Blue. They are shown to be corrupt, yet the LA seems determined to have Coby around, as a look guys, he is one of the good guys. I always felt it was One Piece version of copaganda. If they wanted to include Coby more, his little cover story in the manga, should have been adapted into end credit scenes and Garp hinted at as an easter egg for fans.
With the marine subplot gone, more time could have been focused on the crew.
Mihawks introduction was weaker, I felt. Having him be ordered to follow Luffy, made his appearance at the Baratie underwhelming. Mihawk followed Don Krieg from the Grand Line to the East Blue, as he was bored. That is terrifying. It shows you just how dangerous the Grand Line is.
Also, just thought. Did Garp do all this for Ace too? What ever the answer is, it messes up Marineford.
Hate it when people say that Zoro is the first mate of the crew as the LA said so. Well, the Japanese dub changed that line. He is not the first mate in the LA in Japan.
Sorry I am all over the place here.
I'm going to say something probably very controversial here. I don't think the LA did Arlong Park well. The 'help me' scene was good and I think that did most of the lifting. When people tak about Arlong Park in the LA, I mainly see them talk about the 'Help Me' scene and not much else.
Water is very hard to work with, especially filming. A huge chunk of the fight was missing, as it takes place in/on water. (Why adapt a show that is about pirates who will be around water, a lot) There were character beats in those fights. They were cut without the character beats being replaced. Same with the Don Kreig fight, a lot of it takes place on water. It was probably cut because it would have been too difficult to shoot the fight. (I get people not liking that fight in the OG, but this was LA chance to make it more interesting) But they didn't replace the character beats. (I will never forgive Sanji causally telling Luffy his backstory on the rock, as a leadership lesson for Luffy. Og Sanji only explained his connection to Zeff, as he thought he was about to die and needed Gin to understand why he was not going to back down and needed to kill him. He literally only told it,as he had a gun to his head) the character beats were off in Arlong Park, so it didn't hit as hard for me. I was sitting there, thinking the village was stupid, as none of them apparently questioned why a little girl would suddenly 'willingly' work for the people that killer her mother.
Luffy doesn't care about being the good guy, he just protects people he cares about. He just happens to save islands in the process.
I didn't see season 2, but I don't like what I heard. They added mutant soilders for the crew to fight in Drum Island? Was that just to give Zoro an action scene? I know he fights some soilders in the OG, mainly as he wanted a coat. Most of the fight was off screen.
Not all the crew members are as involved with stuff in arcs. That's fine. Sanji wasn't that inloved in Whiskey Peak and Little Garden, but played a big part on Drum Island. It levels out. It would have leveled out too in the LA.
Notices that most of Wapols fight got changed to inside, as it's easier to have CGI blend in dark area, than in the snow.
Noticing a lot of fights are brought inside, as it's easier to control lighting than outside.
LA takes time to show that Zeff ate his leg, which was not included in the anime. Does not show Usopp getting shot by Merry and still chosing to fight for his village, earning Zoro's and Luffy's respect, also like the anime. (From what I remember) Like come one! That should have been included. Give Usopp his flowers. That is my brave terrified boy.
The thing about the LA needing to stream line the East Blue, is that there is already had the East Blue Movie that they could have used as a blue print. There is one for Aalabasta too.
It might just be my algorithms, but I don't really see character analysis for the LA cast.
IDK, I feel Live Action is too restricting for a story like One Piece.
