Week 8 Reflective Essay
They say college is the upper echelon of the schooling phase in one’s life. You go from kindergarten, to primary school, to high-school, then next thing you know you’re on your way to college. College is here to further your education for the field of choice in which you choose to take up. As schedules form, you start to know it’s beginning to get real, and that you have to do your best in order to get where you want to be in life. All in all, college is just to focus yourself on what you want to be in life and to gain more knowledge and understanding of your career choice.
As far as classes go, MDD410 is definitely one of those classes in which you’ll enjoy. From the students, to the professor, the environment is indeed a friendly one; even though everything is online. I honestly was expecting this class to be rather challenging, or one that I would have to focus extremely hard on in order to get by. But the good thing was, it was more fun than challenging. In this class, we learned how to create our own Google Map, create a simple online game, and even create a simple UI. Though the steps were a bit challenging, they were easy to follow once you got the hand of it. Honestly, I was indeed expecting it to be harder than it actually was.
Learning how to create my own map and game by using the Google service was indeed an eye opener for me throughout this entire course. I never knew that you can literally create a game using Google, but now that I do, I will be experimenting more myself. Creating a new map which showed some of my favorite places to visit where I’m from was also a very exciting exercise. Professor showed us how to create a line which linked all the spots together and showed directions how to get to each spot from the other. Assignments like that are often frowned upon because of how simple and easy they are, but in all honesty, those are the assignments that can help you out in the future, because maps are used everyday.
All in all, this class was a great class. Not only from the assignments, but the people I’ve come to known based off of simple interactions between each other via discussions. I found everyone to be rather helpful to one another, making other assignments easier to cope with, seeing that everyone is willing to help and work with you. From creating our own maps and online games with Google, to creating a simple UI than can benefit us for future use, this class was indeed a great one to be in, and I appreciate everything I’ve learned and all the knowledge I’ve gained throughout these 7 weeks. Thank you professor! Godspeed.
