The Lost Princess

Disney Superheroes #02: Swift (aka Rapunzel) The city calls her Swift because of how quick she moves. Swift catches the thieves right in the act and never once fail. Her real name is Rapunzel, an amazing gymnast and a freshmen in college. She discovered her powers at a young age and quickly learn to control/manipulate her hair to pick up objects.

“To Heather, every painting is personal,  but not necessarily in the way most might think. ‘I don’t necessarily want the viewer to have the same response to  my painting as I have. Instead, my hope is that the expression I paint on the  board through hours of observation and execution of detail will speak to them  in a way that ignites thoughts and feelings unique to them.’” (x).

Dory sniffed and wiped at her tears as she simply let Roza’s arms wrap around her. Then, “I’ve been trying to fix it,” she said. In a split second she’d decided to tell Roza about her research and what she was trying to do. At this point, it couldn’t exactly hurt anything, she still hadn’t gotten very far on that front. Keeping it from her best friends was making Dory feel weird anyway. How could she ever keep secrets from Roza? “I’ve been looking stuff up about spells and potions that effect memory… but there’s a lot of stuff and I’m not very good at research so I haven’t found anything yet…” She sniffed again, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and continued. “We tried a lot of muggle things back in the beginning. Medicine and therapy and other things the doctors suggested… And none of that actually fixed it. So I thought maybe there was a magic way to fix it. But finding it is harder than I thought. A lot harder.” Dory shuffled her feet. It felt weird and relieving to tell someone about all of this. “And some of the stuff I found is really advanced. Even if I were as good at anything as I was supposed to be for a sixth year it would be hard to do those spells.”

“Sometimes, yeah,” Dory said with a sigh. “Like, when I forget stuff…” Thinking about it was frustrating. Almost as frustrating at it actually happening. Her fists balled up as she continued. “It’s just so annoying. No matter how many different things I try that are supposed to help… it just keeps happening. I keep forgetting stuff. Stuff I want to remember…” Though Dory didn’t like dwelling on this, on how she really felt about always forgetting things, she couldn’t help but keep talking. This was Roza. Roza was one of her best friends. Roza would understand. “I suppose I should be used to it by now, but I hate it! And there’s just nothing I can do about it! And that sucks! I don’t want to live forever with my memories just disappearing out of my head, I want to be able to remember things…” Dory’s voice cracked. She hadn’t even noticed the tears that were gathering in her eyes, but she noticed them now as they were threatening to fall. “I just want to be normal, Roza…”

So now they telling me, “Go, Haze, they can’t stop you

Heavyweight flow, if they can’t lift you then they can’t drop you

The pinnacle, if they can’t reach you, then they can’t top you

Man, they can’t do anything, that you’re about to

“Well, yeah,” Dory answered earnestly. Everything could be fixed. Of that, Dory was absolutely certain. “But broken people aren’t like broken stuff. They can’t always be fixed up to exactly the way they were before they got broken like with a table or a vase. Sometimes they have to be fixed up into someone different than they were before. Someone new and different, but not broken anymore.” Dory paused, her face scrunching as she thought about it some more. Maybe it wasn’t that simple. “But I guess… Maybe there are people out there who wouldn’t want to be fixed. Or don’t know they’re broken… I’m not sure what the right thing to do is in that case…”
