I may be slow & late, but I still have the best friends in the world & they deserve birthday celebrations! This one goes out to @lydiacatfish , one of my oldest & most cherished friends. She’s also an AMAZING author & artist & just all around a stand-up gal. Happy late birthday, buddy!

I haven’t spent much time venturing out of the WRA tumblr tags, which has limited the number of cool artists I’ve found thus far on tumblr. I spent some time on the original character tag & stumbled upon @ratbians, who’s a super cool artist with a really lovely & distinctive style & some really awesome OCs! I borrowed one of their cool characters for a quick little sketch-- I hope it fits & you like it, friend!!!

One day I’ll dig through all the sketches & things I left unposted due to that Good Good Depression, but I wanted to be sure to share the (now very belated) birthday sketch I made for @save-disk! Steffi’s a really cool friend & an absolutely kick-ass artist-- they’re a HUGE inspiration of mine, & always super encouraging & compassionate & generally just a really important human in my life. They also make just the best OCs! I cannot encourage y’all enough to go check them out, & thank you for everything, buddo!!!

I got the lovely @coconut-art as a valentine’s day art trade!!! I may be slow (nobody mention how many days it is after valentine’s day shhhhh) but I had SO much fun experimenting & playing with a cool OC! Definitely give Coconut a follow as well, they’re a really excellent artist & character designer in their own right!

I told myself at 7pm tonight that I’d do a quick little sketch to get myself back in the drawing mood, & now it’s 11:30 at night & I finally finished! Hopefully I can keep myself in the zone this time-- I’ve missed drawing my ladies!

Here it is, the 31st piece! We did it, kids! This piece goes out to one of my oldest friends in the entire world-- the amazing @lydiacatfish ! Lydia put up with me through high school and doesn’t Absolutely Loathe Me, which is like.... saying something, to be honest. Lydia is such a dear human, a compassionate friend, and an amazing author! This pretty lady is one of her NaNoWriMo OCs, and I’m so excited to learn more about her over time! I hope I did her some justice-- thank you for always sharing your lovely characters and art with me & with the world!

Would it truly even *be* inktober if I didn’t post two pieces on the same day anyway? Day 30 goes out to the lovely, supportive, and deeply talented @wolftabard ! Wolf was the first person to ever respond to my offer of free art with, “what about an art trade instead?” -- which was honestly the first time another artist (and an artist I respected a ton to boot!) had told me that my art had material value to them, and that they wanted to pay me back for it. I don’t even know if they thought that deeply into that interaction, but honestly to this day I lean on their support when I’m feeling crappy about my art. They’re also just a fabulous and kind friend-- thank you for everything!

Forgive the shitty phone picture (roommate’s asleep so I can’t use the scanner rip) but day 29 goes out to the ever-supportive and lovely @party-of-three!! I’ve squee’d about Erazon’s art style enough & I’m sure they’re bored of hearing the same ol’ things, so this time I’ll squee about their characters! I always love going on Erazon’s page, because it means I get to see not only some fabulous art but also some amazing character development. There’s really never a cookie-cutter character or design, and I so appreciate seeing the work they put into their characters! I strongly recommend giving them a follow, for the art AND the human behind it!

Last one of today’s spam is honestly one of my biggest artist inspirations-- the talented @letiche !!! Letiche knows how to play with creepiness, line, and color like no other artist I know-- and they make some of the most unique characters I have seen! I’m honestly blown away by their work every time it comes up on my feed, and I cannot suggest enough checking out their page.

Day 27 is one of the coolest digital artists I know, and one of the sweetest friends-- the delightful @threska!!! Her work (over at @tusks-and-tonics) is absolutely stunning, her characters are brilliantly developed, and she has acted as a wonderful support for as long as I’ve known her to boot. Thank you for always being there for me, as an artist and a friend!

Day 26 goes to another incredible artist, powerful human, and lovely friend, @ironleaf !!! Iron’s OCs are always so fun & well-thought-out, and he makes some incredible art (one day I’ll have to take him up on his offers to help me with my Art Skills, cuz I can’t draw men for SHIT & he can draw them SO WELL.) Iron is a really excellent person, and I strongly suggest checking him out for the art and the human. Thank you for your support, help, and friendship, friend!

Day 25 goes out to @attractive-zombies‘s original attractive zombie, Valinette! Vali was one of the first people to ever genuinely cut through my self-deprecating bullshit & tell me to just draw, so to some extent I have to credit my art ~journey~ to her. Vali has always been supportive, and is an incredible artist herself! I definitely suggest checking out her work, and thank you for all your help, friend!

Day 24 is @lesleylycan‘s stunning undead lady Nimhiuil. It’s hard to overstate how much Lesley has meant to me on my journey as an artist, but I’ll try to sum it up with this: Sometimes when I don’t want to practice, I’ll think to myself, “no Rou, you gotta improve & be a big fancy artist so one day you can pay forward all the support Lesley’s given you.” It’s a special artist who can draw at a professional level but is still always down to be kind and helpful to new artists; Lesley takes that a step forward by actively seeking out & building spaces where young artists can share their art and grow together. Learning from Lesley has been an absolute blessing, and I hope I can pay her and/or the world back one day.

It wouldn’t be a celebration of the people who have been meaningful in my life if I didn’t include the incredible, talented, compassionate, and supportive @nymmith-wildseeker!! Nym’s always been in my team and has such a beautiful and caring way of looking at art and the world. Nym also has the GREATEST character concept in the WORLD, & I strongly recommend checking her out! Thank you for your support and kind words whenever I need them, and for all the light you bring to the world!

Inktober day 22 goes out to the incredible @sgtsave!! Steffi’s always been such an important and kind friend to me, and has helped me through so much bullshit in my life. They’re also an amazing character creator, and I always get so so excited whenever I get to draw their OCs, because I know it’ll always be fun & challenging and unique. Finally, they’re a goddamn WONDERFUL artist, and if you’re not following @save-disk you are m i s s i n g  o u t. Thank you so, so much for all the help and love you’ve given me, friend!
