Today's pigeon is an absolutely gorgeous and requested Flame Breasted Fruit Dove (Ramphiculus marchei)!!

The flame-breasted fruit dove (Ramphiculus marchei) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is endemic to the Philippines where it is only found in the mountains of Luzon. It is the largest fruit dove in the country and rivals the size of Imperial pigeons. It is identified with its red hood, black wings with a red patch on its secondaries and its unmistakable flame-coloured breast. Its natural habitats are in upper areas of the tropical moist lowland forest and in mid to upper montane forest. It is threatened by habitat loss, poaching for the pet trade and hunting for food. This species was formerly placed in the genus Ptilinopus.

Funfact: The flame-breasted fruit dove (Ptilinopus marchei) primarily feeds on fruits, which makes up about 80–90% of its diet! It favors small, soft fruits, especially those from trees in the laurel family (Lauraceae) and other native forest trees.

The Sri Lankan wood pigeon or Ceylon wood pigeon (Columba torringtoniae) is a pigeon which is an endemic resident breeding bird in the mountains of Sri Lanka. (I'm kinda data deficient sorry guys)

Funfact: This species nests in damp evergreen woodlands in the central highlands, building a stick nest in a tree and laying a single white egg. Its flight is quick, with the regular beats and an occasional sharp flick of the wings which are characteristic of pigeons in general. Most of its food is vegetable. Normally silent it utters an owl-like hoo call in the breeding season.

Funfact: Primarily frugivorous and granivorous, foraging primarily on acorns, berries, drupes, and fruits like those from Prinsepia utilis. They are also known to feed on herbs and cereals. Often gathering on the ground to consume leftover grains in fields after harvest. Have been observed feeding on the acorns of brown oak (Quercus semecarpifollia) and fig (Ficus). Typically feed in pairs, small groups, or flocks of 6-10 individuals.

Today's pigeon is the Japanese Wood Pigeon (Columba janthina)!!!

The black wood pigeon or Japanese wood pigeon is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in East Asia, occurring mainly on offshore islands of the Pacific's Korea Strait, Philippine Sea and East China Sea around Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan. Funfact: It has no sexual dimorphism, with the sexes similar in appearance, but the juvenile has generally paler plumage, with limited or no development of the iridescence. The tarsi, red in adults, are paler in juveniles. In flight, it has large wings and a slightly fanned tail. It's also a fruit eater!

The pale-capped pigeon (Columba punicea), also known as the purple wood pigeon, is a species of large pigeon that is found patchily distributed in parts of the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia. It has a slow flight and spends a lot of time sitting still in the foliage of large fruiting trees, often in riverine forest on the plains. It is mainly brown above and chestnut below with the a sheen of green or amethyst. Males have a whitish grey cap while females have a brownish grey cap and less gloss on the feathers. They are frugivores, foraging in small groups in the canopy of trees but sometimes descending to the ground for seeds and fallen fruit.

Funfact: Some taxonomists have grouped it along with Columba argentina which are both Old World pigeons that lack patterns on the back of the neck.

The Andaman wood pigeon (Columba palumboides) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is endemic to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India. Classified as 'near threatened' by the IUCN, its population is estimated as between 2,500 and 10,000 mature individuals. Its head is white with a red yellow-tipped beak with red claws. The rest of its body is black. It is related to the green imperial pigeon and the rock dove. It can mostly be found on North Passage Island.

The ashy wood pigeon (Columba pulchricollis) is a member of the bird family Columbidae, found in temperate forests of southeastern Asia. It has a wide range throughout Southeast Asia, able to be found in Nepal, Bhutan, northern India, southern Tibet, southern China, northern Laos, northern to mid Myanmar, northern Thailand, and Taiwan. While the world population is unknown, the Taiwan population is estimated to be anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 breeding pairs!
