she protects cassie by giving her advice that actually means something and could help her- we also see that maddy values loyalty very highly because it's oner pf her own defining traits.

the fact that she picks nate is inherently linked to her desire for security and a high standard of life- granted nate sucks dick and is an awful person but he's still rich so-

prominent colour features in her wardrobe:
maddy wears purple the most in season 1 and most notably during her 'confident' moments.
purple signifies drama and wealth, royalty and pride. this colour shows maddy's more natural and expressive side- she isn't scared in these scenes and is free and at her most 'real'- maybe even her most vulnerable.
we last see her wear purple during her breakdown upon getting to know that cassie betrayed her. she starts out strong and angry and slowly breaks down to show how hurt she is.
we see that the frame is lit with shades of amber when she expresses her anger- it's warm and glowing and heated like a distant sun.
as she starts crying and tells cassie that she would've never committed a betrayal like this, the frame dulls down to a glum and moody purple- she is once again vulnerable.
she wears pink when she is with nate. now while, she does wear pink i'd say that pink is almost an anti-maddy colour.
pink is the colour nate most closely associates with femininity and maddy utilises this fact to make herself as appealing to him as possible.
the costuming artist of euphoria states that maddy is dressed in black most prominently in S2 to signify her walls and guard up.
maddy views her clothing as an extension of her life and herself- black here, acts an armor of sorts. it's to protect her from getting hurt.
the day after maddy has gotten to know about cassie's betrayal, she's dressed in a simple black top and jeans.
this outfit makes it so, that the colour really becomes the focus of the outift.
now while green isn't a frequent feature of her wardrobe, it's scarce use is deliberate and significant.
maddy wears a very specific shade of green during her more confrontational moments.
first appearance: her entire lounging outfit is this shade of mint-green. in this scene, she confronts nate about whether he was aware of how much he hurt maddy and if he ever felt as loved by her as she wanted him to feel.
she tells him how she really felt as a 'last confession' or closure moment.
second appearance: she wears this same mint-green, again in an entirely monochromatic outfit during lexi's play where she gets violent with cassie.
here, it's essential to note that this is cassie's 'official' demotion from being maddy's bestfriend. this is where she finally and completely gets removed from maddy's friend circle and receives a warning about nate.
we can say that maddy in a sense, only beats up cassie out of principle. not because of cassie's disloyalty or how hurt maddy is, but only to signify cassie's otherness to the group. it's a confrontation.
