  damn her.  was he accidentally projecting his own anxiety or was she just that good at reading him?  jasper grumbles a vague complaint and turns his back on her.  or maybe alice had seen it coming and knew it was something for rosalie to deal with.  he didn’t like that idea either.  usually if something was left up to one of them regarding the other it was because they were best suited for it.  and the things they were best suited for dealing with tended to be things neither liked thinking about.   “i am physically unharmed.”  save for a few new marks on his knuckles where he’d dug teeth in because he didn’t have an indoor outlet for such levels of rage and fear.  running the entire state no longer made him feel any better.  it just made him more tired.  as if everything was finally catching up to him and renewed hypervigilance was taking up his entire existence.  “i’m…not opposed to company.”  if she stayed or didn’t, he didn’t really care.  her presence wouldn’t make the situation any better or any worse.  “i am also considering on moving to greenland.” 

      𝐇𝐄𝐑  𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐒   widen  immediately  ,  shrugging  carlisle’s  hand  off  of  her  shoulder  in  anger  that  he  hadn’t  said  anything  sooner  .  they  had  taken  care  of  rapists  before  --  what  was  different  now  ?  didn’t  the  fact  that  the  perpetrator  in  question  was  a  vampire  make  it  more  vital  for  them  in  particular  to  step  in  ?        ❛  then  that  means  it’s  up  to  us  ,  ❜  she  concludes  ,  without  skipping  a  beat  ,  a  murderous  fervor  reignited  in  her  face  .  ❛  carlisle  --  we  can’t  do  nothing  about  it  ,  especially  if  the  volturi  are  choosing  to  ignore  it  .  ❜

Bella wasn’t the closest with Rosalie. Well, no that was an understatement to how their relationship played out. Most days, she considered herself to be an insect that Rosalie had to be nice to simply because Edward cared for her. A nuisance…that word sounded about right. Bella didn’t need Edward’s mind reading to know that the blond had never particularly liked her.

But maybe it was the talk of her graduation that crept closer and closer, the energy in the air, the finality of the choices that Bella had made, that was making Rosalie kinder to her. Kinder wasn’t the right word either actually…more willing to talk to her was better.

“ Your future…will be wonderful. And you have one. Emmett will always be in it. Your family will always be here…I think that’s a lovely future to have? A…stable one. “

  “i am.”  it was a rookie mistake.  a fear he thought he would’ve gotten over by now.  a mostly irrational concern that would cost them time and potentially lives.  as much as he’s loathe to admit it, he’s grown beyond detesting bella to more tolerant.  mainly due to the fact that her death would cause more problems and was liable to send edward off the edge again.  not that jasper was feeling any need to keep edward around these days.   he turns on a heel to give her his best disdainful look.  “and what makes you think that?  you might’ve killed some humans on purpose, but that’s more akin to a tiger going after a bunny.  there’s no competition.  statistically, none of them should have gifts but we don’t know that.  we’re the second biggest coven and we have three.  i’d never met another gifted vampire before alice when by all means there should’ve been some.  it would be easier to just go in and pick them off one by one.  sabotage.  get them to turn on each other.  avoid a direct fight.”

lily  of  the  valley      this  is  the  poison  of  giving  too  much.  you  feel  yourself  emptying  out,  dizzying,  discoloring--  until  you  fear  you  will  fade  entirely  and  wither  away.  you  have  always  had  to  give.  you  never  had  a  choice  before.  they  pluck  your  flowers  for  their  beauty,  they  trample  your  leaves  carelessly,  they  pull  out  your  roots  by  the  fistful  and  berate  you  for  daring  to  grow.  and  now  that  you  have  a  grove  to  spread  out  in,  your  rhizomes  tangle  and  curl  in  on  themselves.  when  cruelty  is  all  you've  ever  known,  thriving  seems  impossible.  but  the  answer  is  not  to  make  yourself  small  and  offer  every  lovely  thing  you  are  to  the  world  in  the  hopes  it  will  have  mercy  on  you.  the  answer  is  to  let  yourself  dare  to  thrive  for  thriving's  sake,  to  grow  in  the  wild  ways  you  wish  to--  and  to  do  that  for  yourself  for  once.

      𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐘   of  the  conversation  had  been  tormenting  her  for  the  past  week  ,  which  in  turn  had  been  the  amount  of  time  since  she  had  decided  that  she  was  going  to  have  it  --  no  matter  how  awkward  it  would  make  things  .  despite  the  endless  hours  spent  readying  herself  for  it  ,  practicing  what  she  would  say  ,  and  how  she  would  say  it  ,  rosalie  felt  her  nerves  heighten  (  which  she  quite  frankly  hadn’t  realized  was  possible  anymore  )  .      a  hand  rushes  through  her  hair  ,  the  fidgeting  a  distraction  mechanism  for  what  was  to  come  .  if  not  under  immense  stress  ,  rose  would  have  admired  her  own  natural  reactions  and  how  human  they  made  her  out  to  be  .       ❛  em  ,  you’re  here  ,  ❜  rosalie  announces  ,  her  tone  in  a  rather  stating - the - obvious  tone  .  in  the  bat  of  an  eye  ,  she  is  sat  at  the  couch  and  gesturing  for  him  to  sit  by  her  .  for  once  ,  rose  wishes  edward  were  here  to  tell  her  what  he  was  thinking  !  she  wants  to  slap  herself  for  not  having  gone  to  alice  to  see  what  the  best  outcome  would  be  .  ❛  i  bet  you’re  .  .  .  confused  .  ❜

      𝐈𝐅  𝐒𝐇𝐄   had  been  a  particularly  religious  person  ,  rosalie  would  have  been  praying  by  now  .  or  ,  even  more  so  ,  she  would  have  prayed  the  entire  trip  to  forks  as  well  as  now  ,  as  she  stood  anxiously  in  the  swan  household  .  what  would  happen  if  alice’s  vision  was  true  ?  her  mind  races  ,  even  faster  than  its  normal  pace  ,  through  things  to  say  if  it  is  bella’s  father  who  walks  through  the  door  next  and  not  his  daughter  .  of  course  ,  she  could  say  that  she  was  edward’s  sister  --  alice’s  ,  even  --  but  would  that  suffice  ?        rose  was  beginning  to  regret  her  decision  to  come  ,  in  lieu  of  alice  .  but  it  had  been  her  mistake  ,  to  call  edward  and  tell  him  of  the  vision  (  one  that  was  uncertain  ,  and  without  a  solid  outcome  )  .  she  had  to  see  for  herself  if  bella  was  alive  ,  and  fix  what  she  had  broken  so  badly  .  try  and  mend  the  relationship  that  she  never  even  had  given  a  chance  .      a  car  pulls  up  ,  the  sound  of  its  engine  old  and  worn  .  at  best  ,  bella’s  truck  had  returned  from  the  accident  .  swiftly  ,  she  rushes  to  the  entryway  of  the  door  ,  hoping  to  hear  who  it  is  coming  rather  than  have  to  reveal  herself  .  rosalie  can’t  imagine  the  look  on  bella’s  face  when  she  sees  who  has  come  to  visit  --  much  less  the  reason  why  .        but  maybe  bella  already  knew  ,  what  with  carlisle’s  mercedes  in  the  driveway  .  of  course  ,  the  human  wasn’t  known  for  being  particularly  savvy  with  cars  ,  and  rose  would  believe  if  someone  told  her  that  she’d  glossed  right  over  the  fact  .      she  waits  ,  feeling  as  though  her  body  is  more  stiff  that  usual  with  the  tension  .  seconds  drone  on  like  hours  ,  but  the  door  finally  opens  ,  its  swing  in  slow  motion  .       ❛  bella  ,  ❜  rose  exclaims  ,  her  voice  wavering  more  on  relief  than  excitement  .  no  matter  the  resentment  for  her  brother  ,  she  wanted  her  family  back  together  more  than  anything  .  ❛  you’re  alive  --  ❜
