* POISON / PRINCESS

    THAT    WAS    THE    PROBLEM  ,    HE    DIDN’T    KNOW   WHAT    HIS   LOVE    LIKED   .      a   calloused   hand   grips   the   back  of   his    neck   ,   eyes    squint    for   merely   a    moment    before    the    young    girl    begins   to    assist    him  .    ❛   WHAT    DO    GIRLS    USUALLY    LIKE   ,    PINKS  ,   RED  ,  IT’S   ALL   SO    CONFUSING   ❜    pleasing   a    woman   felt    like    a    video    game   ,   the    wrong   choice    leads    to    a    bad    ending   .    endless    possibilities    when    it    comes    to     women   .   ❛   SHE    LIKES    POPCORN     ❜  

        USELESS  .   ABSOLUTELY  NO  HELP .  AND  YET,   an  amused  smile  carves  itself  into  the  valley  of  her  cheeks.   she  cannot  help  but  feel  rising  sympathy  for  the  customer,  trying  so  hard  to  impress    (     yet  coming  to  so  few  conclusions      )      gaze  darts  in  a  reassuring  glance,  and  familiar  fingers  clasp  a  vase  in  preparation.   “  i  believe  everyone  likes  popcorn,    ”   a  simple  response,  chuckle  escaping  her  lips  at  the  others  comment,   “  however  i  have  an  idea:  have  you  ever  heard  of  floriography  ?  it’s  also  known  as  the  language  of  flowers  and  how  about  you  tell  me  how  you  feel  for  this  girl,  or  a  message  you’d  like  to  convey  and  we  can  work  it  into  the  bouquet  ?   ”

ARMS  TWIST  AS  CURLING  VINES,  fingers  entwine  behind  the  others  waist.  she  clings  to  her  sister  with  the  burden  of  eternity;  as  though  to  let  go,  to  release  her  clasp  for  a  mere  moment  will  cause  disasters  untold.  for  the  other  is  her  life  line,  a  champagne  locked  image  of  safety  in  this  difficult  world.

a  sharp  breath,  a  hidden  shudder  before  finally  gaze  is  lifted.  fists  hurry  to  wipe  red  rimmed  eyes,  smearing  a  river  of  tears  across  the  valleys  of  her  cheeks.  and  ever  so  slowly  chest  returns  to  its  usual  lull   (   in  the  dim  light  of  the  room  inhalation  a  luxury  rather  than  a  necessity   )    before  finally  the  searing  heat  in  her  throat  quells         ——-         a  bark  of  a  cough,  a  hasty  gulp.   “   i  just,  i’d  gone  to  the  store  and  erm,  my  toxins  were  pretty  high.  they  slipped  my  mind;  stupid.  well  some  bloke,  he  made  some  comments  got  in  my  face  and  i  ahh  ——-    ”  cheeks  flush,  a  symbol  of  embarrassment.  she  never  learnt,  always  lost  herself  in  the  fantasy  of  humanity  and  time  and  time  again  the  same  situation  befell  her.  weak  the  only  word  for  it,  the  one  sporeling  who  couldn’t  survive  in  this  cruel  world,  always  hiding  behind  her  mothers  skirts;  her  sisters  would  be  disgusted.   “  i’m  sorry,  it’s  silly  i  know.  i’ll  learn  to  ignore  it,  i  really  will:  i’ll  make  you  all  proud  .    ”

     THE  CURVE  OF  A  LIP,  EYES  ALIGHT;   finally  !  leave  it  to  her.  no  more  stifled  sighs,  hidden  eye  rolls;  for  this  man  had  sense  and  for  once  the  professional  was  in  charge  .    “   can  i  help  ?    ”   an  eyebrow  quirked,  chuckle  escapes.  does  it  even  need  an  answer  ?   “   without  a  doubt,  let  me  handle  this .   ”   a  moments  flurry,  fingers  adance  beneath  the  counter  before  a  display  of  bouquets  laid  before  them.        “  now  do  you  have  any  ideas  on  her  favourites:  colours,  scents         --------            anything  ?    ”

LIPS  TUG,  GHOST  OF  A  SMILE;  past  words  forgotten,  seriousness  and  concern  washed  away.  instead  gratitude  befalls  her,  head  is  motioned  in  eager  nods,  eyes  alight  with  excitement.   “   havoc   ?  ”  a  chance  to  forget,  to  forge  a  friend  ?  don’t  mess  up  now .  eye  brow  is  raised,  a  mirror  of  her  mother,  yet  the  words  that  follow  the  sporelings  own   “   i  wouldn’t  miss  it  for  the  world  !   ”    watch  out  gotham,  the  flower  and  the  witch  are  coming.
