Hi there, I'm rose-red-ink, but you can call me Inky! I'm a writer, and a lover of all things nerdy. I'm also an elementary teacher, so I reblog education stuff occasionally. Feel free to drop into my dms or asks if you want to chat about fandom, fic, or anything else!
This is a writing blog where I write lots of things including anime and Star Wars fic, as well as original projects. I'll be dropping links to them and dropping a short summary below. Enjoy your stay, and again, I always enjoy asks and engagement! Come talk to me (I don't bite I promise)
Below are all my fics linked!
The current most popular one is my Strawhat Katakuri one π

Strawhat Katakuri
A Comprehensive Guide to Stealing Mochi
Katakuri is forcibly recruited to the Strawhats via a Davy Back Fight, Luffy's impulsively, and Linlin underestimating the craziest crew on the Blues.
The fic follows him eventually finding kinship and understanding with each of them as he realizes what true love, friendship, and understanding is.
And as he is forced to hide an increasing number of his siblings under his bed who are escaping Big Mom's rage.
A Kuja named Teria is forced to leave Amazon Lily, and finds herself a home aboard the Red Force, working under the Red Haired Shanks. This puts her face to face with a mysterious swordsman several times. The two form a connection, and eventually, love blooms.
This one is done, but I still write mini fics for them as the inspo strikes.
The Punk and the Surgeon: Lawka (Trafalgar D. Water Law x OC) Finished
Law's ship needs repairs, and the only place to do so is said to be haunted. Instead of a ghost or spirit, he meets Aika; a stubborn, kind young woman who's doing her best to keep her family safe. Through a series of tragic circumstances, she finds her way onto his crew, and into his heart.
Cards and Pieces: Freyce (Portgas D. Ace x OC) Ongoing
In a modern AU, Freya feels an odd connection and draw to a stranger named Ace. He seems so farmiliar...so why can't she place where she knows him?
Franky is in love with Nico Robin. But it wouldn't be manly not to propose with a ring for each of her hands, right?
The Proposal: Frobin (Franky x Robin)
Finished

the oldest reblogs for this post that i can find are from january 2nd of 2013. this can has been getting kicked around tumblr for almost 13Β½ years now
And I'll choose Dhrake, since I've been thinking of him as of late and kind of want to talk about him.
7. Who is his best friend?
A raven named Cora. She's stolen his phone as well as other stuff he needs for work, and she eats his food, and sings him to sleep.
8. Someone he can't stand?
He doesn't usually have a specific person he can't stand. He's pretty antisocial (for reasons that are not entirely on him) so most of the time, so it's by a person to person, mood to mood basis. More often than not, he can't stand the coworker telling him he can't do something.
9. Someone he looks up to?
Using the term loosely, it would be Poumen, his boss. He wants to please Poumen, and he's loyal to Poumen's cause.

That post about actively living is exactly what the Switchfoot song Afterlife is about. "Every day, the world is made a chance to change, but I feel the same, and I wonder why would I wait til I die to come alive?" "Every day, a choice is made/every day, I choose my fate" yeah..........
Reasons everyone should read The Lovely And The Lost by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
It's written by the same lady who wrote The Inheritance Games but doesn't get NEARLY as much hype even though it's way better (imo)
Main character is NOT part of a love triangle
There's!!! Dogs!!!!!
Main character has an adopted brother named after the patron saint of hopeless causes who takes his namesake very seriously. He's hilarious. In his introductory scene, he challenges some bullies to a dance-off. He's amazing
one character is referred to as "Broody McSmirkpants"
absolutely zero rich boys
there is admittedly one (1) "bad boy" type character (the aforementioned Broody McSmirkpants) but he's not rich or snotty or full-of-himself
I WANT AT LEAST TWO SEQUELS BUT IT GOT NONE AND I'M SAD ABOUT IT (psst if we all read it maybe she'll write another)
the main character and her foster brother and their neighbor are best friends who abide by a code dubbed the Miscreants' Creed
the whole friendship dynamic is so sweet. both her brother and her friend are really respectful about the way her past trauma has affected her and they both do their best to help her in the ways she needs
THERE'S A MONTY PYTHON REFERENCE (it took me two rereads to catch itπ)
there's a grumpy x sunshine dynamic except it's not a romance!!! it's a found family!!! perpetually cheerful boy & the feral child his mother found in the woods
SO MANY PLOT TWISTS BUT THEY ALL MAKE SENSE
The backstory of all the characters is unwound gradually and with each new thing revealed it's like getting an essential piece of the puzzle that you didn't even know was missing but that fits perfectly into place
I'm about 1/3 of the way through, a little over that.
I'm enjoying it quite a bit, however; it has quite a different tone than what this post gives off, no offense to OP.
If you struggle with memory loss of any kind, this is good rep, but it might trigger you, as it did me. Very accurate depiction, but very visceral as well. Take care of yourself.
There's also a young child who, at this point in the book, is kidnapped and there's implications from character dialouge that very awful things are happening to her.
It's a dark book. It's good, but it's dark. Know that going in.

When I was a kid, I used to tell my little sister so many versions of Rumpelstiltskin off the top of my head as bedtime stories.I just remembered one version I came up with that certainly wasn't incredible by any standard, but which I really enjoyed telling at the time. I don't remember every single detail, but here's the best I can remember with some cobbling to hold it together:
The king's son, much more kindhearted than his father, has always had a hidden talent for turning things into gold. So when he hears that the king has brought a miller's daughter back to the castle to test her ability to spin straw into gold, threatening death if she fails, he jumps in to help. He disguises himself in strange clothes with a low hood, and hunches over, and offers to help the girl spin straw into gold. Turns out that she's very lovely to talk to - they have a wonderful time getting to know each other through the night as they work. But the prince knows he's in disguise and cannot act on his attraction, so he merely asks for her for something to remember the evening by, and she gives her necklace. He helps her the same way the next night, and she gives him a ring, without his even asking for it, and blushes prettily as she does so.
The third day, the king says that if she can spin the straw into gold a third night, she will marry his son. Though the prince has been falling in love with her, he of course protests that his father cannot force her to marry anyone. But he gets shut down. That night when he comes to help her, he plans to tell her his true identity, but this time guards are in the room, as the king suspects some trick. She weeps, for she has no more jewellery to give him - in fact her only hope at this point would be to barter away her first born child like in a fairy tale. He's aghast, and waves it away, saying he'll certainly help her, but she thinks that he understood it to mean she WAS promising her firstborn. But she's afraid to unsay it, fearing he won't help her. He keeps trying to find a moment to confess the truth, but something always happens to prevent it. They finish spinning the straw into gold with hardly a moment for the prince to slip away and change into his own clothes.
In the morning, the king arrives at the door of the room full of straw, with a priest to marry them on one hand, and an executioner with axe in hand on the other. He is delighted to see there is gold after all, even with the guards watching, and calls for the wedding. The girl is willing enough to wed a prince - I mean, he's a prince but there's also something gentle and kind, and almost as if she *knows* him, though she doesn't see how she could.
The wedding is rushed through, and it's not till the bride and groom are left alone that both of them try to burst out with a terrible confession to make. She manages to gasp hers out - that she's happy to marry the prince, and she'll be as faithful and true as he could wish, but there's something terrible she must tell him. She was helped in spinning the gold, by a strange man with a hooded face, and... she may have accidentally bargained their firstborn child for his help.
The prince pauses, and says something like, "But isn't it true that with these magical sorts, knowing their name frees you from their power? If you could guess his real name, perhaps it would solve everything!"
She despairs - with all the names in the world, how could she possibly guess it?
He smiles and encourages her to try to guess.
"But what's the good of guessing now? How am I to know if I guessed it or not until he comes back for what I owe him? And then it will be too late!"
"Are you sure you can't guess his name, my love?"
And he takes out the necklace and the ring.
And joy, and laughter, and all's well that ends well, and even more rejoicing when she gives him their firstborn a year later.
Constantly obsessed with the concept of a man forced to be a myth. What do you do when every step you take is embedded into the text. Every word you say prose to read. You're part of something bigger than yourself. The narrative tugs you along like water currents. There is no time to rest, to be human. You must be great, you must be legend
She joined the marines when she was just 14 years old. Which was slightly after her village, Heliodoro, was attacked by (bad) pirate's.(she knows there are very good and nice ones!!! :3 ) The marines ended up saving her village from being completely destroyed. (Miraculously)
Shortly after joining the marines she very quickly found out SHE IS VERY BAD AT FIGHTING. They had little hope she would do much better than this, thinking they should just send her back home. Strings ended up being pulled by a mysterious higher up to keep her here!!! He had apparently seen her patch up uniforms after training, to the point where you could barely tell anything had happened to the uniform!!! They had no idea she was a seamstress' daughter back home and spent most of her life already practicing. A young man in her group had given them this idea of keeping her on a seamstress, especially since she has helped him so many times after...basically destroying his clothes everyday.
Shes not good at combat but can at least defend herself if the need ever arises!!!
She is technically a Marine in a very unique way. Things happen down the line where she is in and out of this line of work. π€πππ

Since I don't really know your characters, I'm going to say 1, 3, 5, and 11 for the character that most often gets overlooked.
Thank you!!!!! I'll chat about Freya, I don't speak about her too much.
1. I have a playlist for most of my characters! One of the first things I do. Hers has a lot of electronic ala Porter Robinson and Zedd, as well as a lot of mid-2000s pop punk like Fallout Boy.
3. Character aesthetic:
Broken hairties. Overlapping branches. Your lungs aching as you sprint on a freezing night. The musky smell of fur and damp earth. Knowing someone is by your side, watching out for you, without needing to look. Fangs. Shattered glass. Purring that rumbles your chest.
5. Freya has a pretty one-track mind, so it's hard to get her to delve into deep thoughts about her past or future. Those aren't the thing happening Right Now, so they're so far down on the priority list, why bother? She could be wrestling with her little brother or cheering up her friends or taking a swim, or napping.
This is good for her, but bad for sharing backstory or building dramatic tension π
11. Oh jeez. Well. Ok so Freya kind of *did* get dumped in the woods. And immediately tracked down a wild animal and was gonna eat it. Then was told about Cooking Food.
She's gonna take a friend? I'd say a survival book but she can't read more than a handful of words.
If she was pressed; a bag to keep stuff in, a big jar of salt for preserving meat, and a change of clothes.
