I get a fuck ton of messages. I like to keep my messages open to everyone, because it means I get to meet interesting people and have conversations I wouldn't otherwise have, but that does not mean in any way I have the ability or time or responsibility to respond to every message. I'm sorry if you send a message to me and don't get a response, but it's not really about you, it's about me and how I'm able to spend my time.
What really starts to rub me the wrong way is when boys flood my inbox with messages threatening me if I don't respond to them or calling me horrible names because I didn't answer their message. I'm sorry you feel slighted by me, but it really wasn't personal - at least, until you start threatening and attacking me.
Whatever kind of community we inhabit on Tumblr has a serious problem with harassment and threats, and that's felt by far the most by women. We get so many of these messages and yeah, you get used to it - but should anyone have to get used to an overwhelming number of unacceptable messages? Maybe it's just me but I don't think that's ok.
Just, honestly, if you're the kind of guy who would send threatening or harassing messages to women, I don't want you following me, thanks - and maybe try and reconsider your life choices.
