though the two are currently separated by distance, there is no doubt that there will soon come a day when they will no longer have to part ways and can settle down together. as cha young first said in episode 18 (and vincenzo restated in his postcard), the two are one soul living in two bodies and are more alike than they are different. they balance each other perfectly and it’s why both have decided that they are the villains who do deserve to love and be loved. cha young continues to weave subtle but powerful traces of italy into korea for vincenzo, and vincenzo very transparently works on creating symbolic ties to korea on his island in malta. they do this with only the other in mind so that when the blessed day finally comes, they can finally be together and be a part of both worlds. 

I’ve missed you a lot.  Me too. You’ve been the only thing on my mind the whole time I was there. Tch, it doesn’t really feel that way. Do you feel it now?

I bought a deserted island near Malta. I named it myself as well. Pagliuzza. In Korean, it means «straws». The island has many purposes. It’s a refuge for exhausted fighters, a hideout for your loved ones, and a place of healing. Can I go there as well? Yes. I’ve set aside a room for you. No way. I can’t wait to go there.
