the atmosphere is tense. it usually is on a mission, especially one that takes them so far from home, but sebin can't help but feel that this is worse than usual. it certainly did not help that there's discord in their scouting party; janus and helios' fight. sebin had stayed out of it, keeping his distance and trying to watch their backs while the pair fought. but there was only so much any of them could do. honestly, he wishes janus had waited to air out his grievances when they were safely back at the agency. but what's done is done. all they can do now is pick up the pieces and move forward.
or maybe they can't. sebin just wanted to check in with home base, update the status of the senior party. but something's not right. he keeps getting static, blurred messages that don't quite make it through. this isn't normal. he wonders if he somehow broke his communicator. he jogs forward a few paces, falling in step with daesu to check in with him if it's a comms problem or just a rook's communicator problem.
"hey," he scowls, still nothing but static on the other end. "is your communicator working? mine keeps giving me static." rook doesn't mention his worry. he's among other senior agents, they all know what's normal and what's decided not normal. static on the comms falls into the latter category. "i'm not sure i like this."

people are brought back to the agency in critical condition almost every day. poor lost souls, wandering the wasteland that humanity used to call home. they either meet their ends at the claws and teeth of the monsters who now rule the earth or are lucky enough to be found by meiaās agents. sebin canāt always keep track of who comes in their doors, the poor shivering messes who have survived things unimaginable. but every now and then, they find someone who was lost in the fall of seaside. someone familiar coming home to a safe fortress, secured meals, and medical care.
when he heard that hwang juwon was in the med wing, he had frozen on the spot.
they were close, or, well, sebin always wanted them to be close. juwon was a good kid. sebin tried to tell him that, but he was never quite sure how sebin felt; he became so quiet, but at least he never fully shut sebin out. to be honest, when the dust had cleared and the survivors began to take a count of who had survived the destruction, the loss of juwon was one that hit sebin particularly hard. hadnāt he failed enough? was the loss of boyeon not enough?
but to hear heās back, alive, and in the med wing... well, sebin just has to see that for himself.
he waits a couple days. heās sure that juwon is overwhelmed with... everything. heās sure that thereās other seaside agents who were all too eager to greet him. but sebin wants to give him time to process, adjust, recover. he enters the medical center quietly, waving away any medics who ask him if he needs anything; heās just visiting an old friend. elmo trots by his side, stuck to his heels like glue. sebin debated leaving him at home for this reunion, but if juwonās uneasy at the sight of a dog, he can always tell elmo to sit and wait outside. heāll listen.
ājuwon?ā he greets the other quietly when he sees him, unsure if heās asleep or not as he approaches. he can always come back another time if heās not up for a visit now.

introducing jung sebin, aka rook! a senior agent with a tragic story, but arenāt they all...
anyway, i finally finished up his background here, and his profile is here, but iāll also sum him up with some plot ideas below the cut!
the spark notes version of jung sebin:
grew up as a civilian in seaside; both of his parents are actually still alive (!!!) and also not agents. heās the oldest and has at least two younger brothers but honestly that might change as i convince more people to be part of his family kjashfd
when he was still a kid there was a demon scare and THANKFULLY he didnāt lose anyone, but it really shook him up and he decided that he wanted to get stronger to be able to protect his family. shortly after that he started training (as best as a 10 yr old kid knows how). later actually started training when he got older, officially joining seaside as soon as theyād let him at 17.
thatās when he got close to a girl he was friends with his whole life but never had a real conversation with! her name was ahn boyeon and within a year their relationship had grown to the point where they were hearing wedding bells by the time they were 18. but she was absolutely the love of his life and heās never regretted marrying her, he loved her so much.
unfortunately, in the fall of seaside, she died. he was heartbroken of course but chose to stay with maylin and help rebuild meia because he promised to protect his family, and that still means her family too, and also all of the friends heād made. heās been with meia ever since.
senior agent! apparently leader of team bluejay, which is awesome!! heās got sad dad energy; super calm and patient dude who really just wants to be there for everyone. very even tempered, slow to anger... i imagine heās an excellent moderator or mediator when necessary
also! has a dog! a black male malinois named elmo. no, he will not accept any critique on the name. elmoās still young, maybe like two years old, and sebinās partner in the field. a very good boy.... very drivey and active when at work but a total sweetheart off duty. he keeps sebin company when he feels a little too alone....
now for some plot ideas!
disclaimer: this muse if very self-indulgent. i love love. he is intentionally designed to have multiple romantic opportunities. the one great love of his life is gone, but he still has love to give, and she would want him to be happy.... so....... if u feel ur muse would have chemistry, hmu we can discuss.....
anyway, ideas,
childhood friends, someone who also grew up in seaside, trained together, fought together, promised that theyād die together if it ever comes to it...Ā
when sebin started to recover from the death of his wife, your muse was there for him to mourn as well. they spent long hours just being There when he couldnāt sleep, when he missed her so much it physically hurt. your muse misses her too. optional: the emotional comfort became physical comfort at some point too. essentially a fwb plot but with a lot of emotions to the point it might sometimes become confusing if theyāre really just friends
muses who were friends and close with his late wife. maybe someone who blames him for her death? he wasnāt there, and if he was, maybe he could have saved her. sebinās already put himself through all of that, but i would love some antagonistic plots too
someone who really doesnāt like being around people very much but really likes dogs and elmo in particular... sebin wonāt say anything if you want toĀ āhang outā with him just to pet his dog he understands
as for his team members (and anyone else tbh)!! heās team dad heāll constantly be checking up on them, making sure everyone stays hydrated and healthy... heās here to listen to your relationship drama... or help you work on a particular skill.... heās kinda a jack of all trades sort of fighter, good weaponry sense, and heās been doing this for a long time so heās rather skilled
as i mentioned before..... romance plots..... sebinās much less monogamous since he lost his wife but he also loves everyone heās intimate with genuinely, even if itās not as much as he loved her. maybe a muse whoās jealous of her memory more than theyāre jealous of the other people in sebinās life?
