i’m thinking there’ll be a holiday house dark world, maybe made by kris. either way, it will be made to prevent the fun gang from getting the shelter code. i would go absolutely nuts over a holiday house dw, so i really hope this will be true.

a hospital dark world made by noelle could also be possible, as her desperate attempt to save rudy. toby definitely was being intentionally vague by using the term “fell down”, so it’s unclear how critical rudy’s condition actually is right now.

temporary suselle breakup. i do think they will still end up together in some way in the normal route.

susie and noelle not only just started dating, but just started getting to know each other in a pretty casual way (compared to how kris, susie, and ralsei have gotten closer in more serious circumstances). i think noelle will be struggling at the beginning of chapter 6 with her fathers condition and the fact that this terrible news directly followed her standing up to her mom. i’m also not sure how well she’ll take the reveal that dark worlds are real. i honestly don’t know if noelle is going to be invested in saving the world over saving her family.

i also think that everything with the dark world, the prophecy, the knight, and the shelter will put a lot of stress on this brand new relationship.

also… krusie breakup. i think everyone knows this is coming though. i’m not ready…

i think susie will be in denial for a bit too. we do see a bit of that in chapter 5, after asgore pushes kris and susie out of the dark world.

i also really like the idea of noelle siding with kris, if the knight conspiracy is really to bring back dess. i don’t really know how likely this is, but my kriselle mind likes the idea.

carol will play an important role in this chapter. i’m really confident in this. we didn’t even see her in chapter 5.

anyways, i’m so excited for the next newsletter, which will probably be on undertales anniversary. we have so little information about this chapter, i crave just a little.

toby said he and the team would try to have chapter 6 out in 2027, so it might be late in the year. if he wanted to do a thematic date, christmas would make sense. but that’s also a very busy day for a lot of people, so idk if he’d want to release it on christmas, maybe just in december.

this might just be more speculation than theory, but whatever.

i think it’s safe to assume the other two codes are dates. everyone already assumed that the code in dess’s guitar was 12/25, but there’s definitely a year involved too.

i think it’s likely the codes were set by the people safekeeping them (asgore, carol, and alvin).

i think asgores code is probably the day he and toriel got married. them getting married in the 90’s makes sense timeline-wise, and he hid the code in the soil of a flower that was part of toriels bouquet. and i think them getting married the day undertale was released makes sense.

i think carols code is dess’s birthday. 12/25, it’s obviously christmas, but it’s christmas of a specific year.

then there’s alvin. i think his code could have something to do with gerson, maybe the day lord of the hammer released? i’m not 100% sure, but i think it’s possible someone (probably noelle) might notice the pattern with the codes and figure out alvin’s without having to get it physically.

yes this is about suselle. i am personally more of a krusie guy, but i do still love suselle.

susie was very in character this chapter. yes, the girl who has been unloved her whole life is going to get very fixated on her first romantic relationship! yes, she will fall very fast, just like she got super serious about her friends really fast!

not only that, but the prophecy (love finds its way to the girl) and the entirety of castle town being focused on her date also impacted how quickly the relationship developed between susie and noelle. it’s also important to add that noelle is (in chapter five at least) separate from the things plaguing her, the knight and the last prophecy. of course susie feels at ease with her!!!

and it’s not like susie is 100% only fixated on noelle in the dark world. she makes sure to be there for her friends as well. she is so reassuring to kris that despite her budding relationship with noelle, she still cares about them.

and to the krusie fans complaining… why? suselle was always gonna happen. and kris’s canon unrequited crush on susie is such good angst, i’m honestly relishing in it. there was also still some really good krusie moments in this chapter.

the suselle hate is getting out of hand, is what i’m saying. i personally did feel some dread during the suselle scenes as number one kris dreemurr fan, but i’m still very happy for the girls. i don’t think chapter 6 will be kind to them, but i’ll make another post about that.

i thought he was pretty interesting in ep 7, but by not acknowledging what a piece of shit he’s been it takes away from what made him interesting in the first place, to me at least.

i understand why the characters wouldn’t want to dwell on his decision to push the button given their current predicament, but they were being too soft on him.

also jax having a realization that the circus is “real” was silly to me. that just takes away the weight of his actions.

like, there’s the obvious freak (jabber, hannibal) and the closeted freak (zanka, will). the obvious freak is the only one to bring the freak out of the closeted freak.

i think the biggest difference is how open jabber is about his freakiness, compared to hannibal who seems normal at first, as well as the fact that jabber and zanka are full on enemies.

the two-way obsession is another similarity.

kris’s identity and their existence being separate from us is so important to their character and story. denying their gender identity and using incorrect pronouns is so thoughtless.

i will say, the cottage recovered my mood significantly last night.

ofc there’s the dummies. they are perfect replicas of the participants in the killing game. there’s the real reko vs. fake reko in chapter 2. fake reko doesn’t even know she’s fake, and it takes a great deal of debating to decide that she is fake. it’s also notable that she dies because she is not the real reko. while the doll kills real reko (depending on the route), i can’t help but pity her. she fully and truly believed she was human, but she was treated as more disposable because she was a dummy.

then when it comes to the dummies in chapter 3, they’re also treated as disposable, particularly by midori. he uses them as tools to attack the human participants for his own amusement. the thing is, no matter what midori promised them, they were never going to survive. ofc, 3-c isn’t out yet, but it seems like no matter which dummy survives the banquet, nothing changes. the only substantial story differences come from the death of humans. ranmarus reaction when he removes his hand is also notable. the realization that he isn’t a “real person” hits him hard.

the dummies in yttd remind me of the book “klara and the sun”, which is a really good book. that book explores what makes someone human in a way that’s similar to how the dummies in yttd operate.

the last thing i have to say about the dummies is that i think it’s interesting how the banquet revolves around who is human and who is not, as well as sacrificing the dummies to save gin. they aren’t human, so they’re more disposable. though i’d sacrifice any yttd character for gin.

now, i wanna talk about humanity when it comes to sara, shin, and midori.

sara is a very kind, smart, and confident teenager. though she is pushed into the role, she is able to gain trust from almost the entire group. but, her survival percentage and what we hear about the test runs without joe from shin and midori show a different side to her. more than any other character, sara is desperate to survive. without joe, she can detach herself from her humanity and use people in order to survive. she doesn’t know these people, it’s fine. she can win. she can’t do that with her best friend present, with his life on the line. she also can’t do that after becoming attached to the other participants. that’s why she doesn’t go full emotionally detached killer mode after forgetting joe in the logic route.

as for shin, i think him and sara are two sides of the same coin. 15.5% and 0.0%. the highest chance of survival and the lowest. because the death game was made to be even, sara got joe as a debuff, and shin got to see the trial runs and survival percentages as a buff. just like sara, he is determined to survive. he takes on the name and the personality (or at least he tries to lol) of the person who he fears most, someone he believes would survive this situation: sou hiyori, midoris real name. the thing is, shin isn’t sou. he isn’t completely inhumane. he doesn’t enjoy hurting people. he lies and manipulates, but he still cares for others, particularly kanna. shin tries to not let the facade slip, but his efforts trying to keep kanna alive show that he cares, deeply, about what happens to her. the fact that he is willing to give up on surviving, the reason he did all of his bullshit in the first place, just for kanna to live shows that he is unable to actually discard his humanity and become sou hiyori.

as for midori. he has a particular fascination with humans, in a very detached way. he wants to understand what makes them work, physically and mentally. he mimics emotions like he doesn’t have them himself. the only genuine emotion we see from him is fear. midori is completely detached from a fundamental part of what makes us human.
