RokuNami Christmas Event 2025 -- Baking
Summary: Roxas is terrible in the kitchen, but Naminé wouldn’t have him any other way.
In his defense, Roxas didn’t even try to defend himself. He just heaved a sigh and defeatedly slumped in the kitchen seat.
Thankfully, the smoke was long gone, Naminé had opened the windows once the fire in the stove had been taken care of.
The cold air that rushed in made Naminé shiver, and although earlier it was welcoming, now it just made her want to bundle up in a blanket and cast a heating charm around the house. One would’ve thought that snowing in Twilight Town would be an impossible thing, and yet, here they are.
“I never thought I would witness the day someone would fail at boiling water,” Naminé deadpanned, trying to stop her lips from twitching upwards. Even when almost burning their house down, she still couldn’t help but find his antics somewhat endearing.
She still needed to keep a stern font though, can’t have him thinking that he can get away with doing something like this again.
Roxas groaned loudly from his perch, deciding to not even dignify her with coherent words. Letting out a sigh of her own, Naminé walked up to him, laying a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“It’s okay Roxas, you’re not the only one who’s bad at cooking. Remember what happened with Riku and Aqua?”
Finally lifting his head up, Roxas gave Naminé a sulky stare.
“Getting compared to Riku of all people is not comforting in the slightest, Nami.”
“But it’s not just Riku I’m comparing you to. It’s also Aqua,” Naminé countered, giving a smug smile when Roxas opened his mouth, instinctively about to rebuttal, before closing it.
“Anyway,” Roxas deflected, deciding to ignore Naminé’s smug look, “what’re we gonna do about all of this?”
Naminé turned to survey the kitchen, pondering on what to bake, before nodding decisively.
“We, and by we I mean me,” Roxas rolled his eyes, “are going to bake a yule log. Little Chef told me about it and gave me the recipe for it. You are going to just sit there, and look pretty.”
“So I’m just decoration now?” Roxas gave her a playful glare, no heat in his eyes whatsoever.
With a soft smile, Naminé cupped his face in her hands, delighting at the way his cheeks flushed prettily.
“You’re the prettiest ornament in this house,” his flustered scoff caused her to laugh, and she turned to the cabinets in order to begin her baking session.
Although there was a mishap in the beginning, Naminé and Roxas ended their night happily, eating the chocolate yule log Naminé prepared.
Roxas had been delegated to dish washing duty, with no protests coming from him. He would take dish washing over cooking or baking any day.
Laying down to sleep, Roxas turned off the lamp and waited for Naminé’s breaths to indicate she was sound asleep.
Once she was slumbering, Roxas pulled open the drawer next to him, catching sight of a black box.
Once Christmas comes, I’ll ask you Naminé. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, I just hope you feel the same way.
A/N: Merry Christmas everyone! I had fun writing this little one-shot of RokuNami and their misadventure in baking 🤣, particularly Roxas being a bad baker. I have headcanon's on which characters are actually good in the kitchen, and who are pretty bad at it. Riku, Aqua and Roxas are up there in being terrible in the kitchen lol.
I hope you guys enjoyed it! Happy holidays @rokunamievents 🎄🎁!
