One of the superstars from #MetJerusalem were these five capitals sculpted in Nazareth around 1187 by French sculptors for the Church of the Annunciation, believed by Christians to be the ~room where it happened~ and therefore of incredible value to the ruling Crusaders. The capitals were just about to be installed into the church, when news broke that the Muslim forces of Saladin had re-captured Jerusalem. In haste, the capitals were buried and quickly forgotten about, only to be unexpectedly discovered - perfectly preserved - in 1908, when word of their sensational condition made headlines worldwide. Regram of my hometown from @nytimes: With its limestone-paved streets, #Dubrovnik, Croatia, has long been able to rest on its aesthetic laurels. (You might recognize it as King’s Landing on @gameofthrones.) More recently, though, this star of the Dalmatian Coast has been adding to the luster. This summer, the city is starting an electric-scooter sharing program, which will help locals and visitors to zip up and down the coast to more private beaches.
