🎵 NEW MUSIC VIDEO DROP — “BLIND” 🎵
Some songs come easy… and some take a lifetime to grow into themselves. Blind is one of those songs.
A long time ago, making a record meant building a band, rehearsing like crazy, gigging anywhere that would have you, and finally stepping into a studio where—even as hobbyists—you felt like rock stars. I honestly thought those days were behind me… until Kimberlee surprised me with studio time as a Christmas gift. That changed everything.
By then, Chris Ritchie, Chris Babler, and I had been grinding—open mics, odd shows, a residency at Six Springs. As Chris Babler always says, “We were doing the work.” And nowhere did that work shine brighter than on Blind.
This song has lived many lives:
• Born from a high‑school heartbreak
• Shaped in the last days of Mother Redcap with Steve Oakley
• Reinvented acoustically thanks to Patrick Keating
• Supercharged by Brian Fin and Matt Doyle before I left for Texas
• And finally, fully realized with Chris and Chris as we kept “doing the work”
When we walked into Panhandle House Studios, I had one mission—capture Blind exactly the way it feels live. So, we recorded it old‑school, just three musicians locked in together. And it worked. I’m proud of the whole Ray of Hope record… but Blind holds a special place.
1. That drum intro — crank it up and let it hit you
2. The chorus bass line — headphones or subwoofer highly recommended
3. The wah‑wah guitar — not usually my go‑to, but it fits perfectly here
This is the first of several behind‑the‑song stories I’ll be sharing from Ray of Hope. Every track has its own journey, its own meaning, its own heartbeat.
For now, I’m proud to share the album‑cover video for Blind.
Huge thanks to Kimberlee for the push, Megan for the artwork, and Chris & Chris for doing the work.
