ROCK/SKATE/NERD

So we recently lost our amp/electronic/all around nice guy tech in Grand Rapids, MI.  Me being the kind of person i am decided why not? Lets try and fix stuff for real!  You see for years I have been building stuff and fixing my own shit.  However I always had a guy to take take stuff to if i completely ruined something with my tinkering or if something was way over my head.  Without that safety net it was now time to get serious.  This month I bought a couple of books, an oscilloscope, and a signal generator.  I also have a pile of broken gear that needs to be fixed.  But some of that stuff is rather complex so I am going to start small and get a couple of "easy" beater projects under my wings.  

First up is the Alesis Midiverb II.

I was browsing around ebay and came across this little gem.  I have always had a soft spot for these terrible 80s cheap rack effects.  Winning bid $10.51 and it came with a working  power supply.  I figured if anything the power supplies were going for more then that so it would be an easy flip if i fucked this thing up any further. 

Today I had a little time in between sessions and figured it was as good as ever to dig into this.  Plugged everything in just to make sure the guy that sold it to me wasn't an idiot. Nope doesn't turn on.  Measured the voltage at the power supply and everything looks good there.  Opened it up and started poking around with my multi meter since i don't really understand how to use the scope yet.
