anyway we really have no other info about her as far as i know, i KNOW there’s a magazine clipping talking about this rumor from the 70s ive seen but i can’t find it for the life of me. i’m gonna go digging a bit more and if i find it i’ll attach it to this post. but that’s the only other time ive seen her mentioned! and it includes a photo of them together

so this is gonna be pure speculation for me. no, i don’t think they were actually romantically connected. i don’t think elton has had any true romance with women, other than renate of course (linda doesn’t count lmao) on the other hand, i don’t think management was trying to push the relationship to counteract the rolling stone interview or anything. (even though JR and co were sweating a bit after album sales dropped, particularly in the USA, because of it!) beyond having elton hold hands with girls at events/in front of paparazzi, or vaguely talking about women in interviews, management never really pushed a true “beard” onto him particularly. i think this was just the press speculating and forming stories. this happened a good amount with elton, having dating rumors with kiki dee, billie jean king, even ann margaret, and the list goes on. elton would hang with women in a friendly way and the press would latch onto that. though i must say, melanie is not a celebrity like the other people i mentioned, so it makes it slightly different. it almost seems like she was a fan, and elton liked her enough, that he let her hang around? the way it’s described is interesting…
