Made some progress over the weekend on a game concept I've been working on off-and-on for the past year. Finally ended up with something almost screenshot worthy (^_^;)
The camera controls are fun just to mess around with; being able to rotate and "peel" down the chunk of blocks is simply a joy. The A & D keys rotate the chunk, while W & S navigate you along the Z-axis, peeling back layers on the way. Zooming is handled by the mouse scroll wheel.
Behind the scenes, a lot of effort was put into the greedy meshing of the cubes and caching results for performance. Even when peeling layers, Unity stays above 150 FPS and generally hovers around 200 FPS (when not recording video, of course).
Stay tuned for more screenshots!
