Failed experiment. Getting my own blog domain in the hopes of blogging more frequently on the account of me having to shell out money. I guess it’s time to accept that I really can’t blog as frequently as I used to. Will let the old domain die its natural death and back up some milestone posts here.
First pre-production meeting for Goyo a few days ago. Needless to say, the staff was quite overwhelmed with the scope of the whole endeavor. It really is bigger than Luna and much more difficult. Let this be the first post then. A before and after of sorts, assuming we get to the end whole and alive.
More thoughts as we go along. I hope.
Parties, in the meantime, continue to be not my thing. I just made a French exit at our family’s Christmas party because seriously: People. Last week I was invited to attend the DGPI party. Thankfully I was away but even if I was in town, people still. I don’t hate people. I just…can’t function properly after a certain number of people in a group, unless it’s for work, or I’m teaching in class, or I’m in a public speaking engagement. Also, I’m well aware how some directors hold a negative opinion of me (e.g. overrated, a hack, not an artist). I don’t care about the opinions. I care about the fakery. The hollow hi’s and hello’s. Waste of energy.
Angas is overrated. People who need to proclaim they’re artists are pretentious. And those who belittle the business side of filmmaking are naive or just full of themselves. There, said it.
Still the best thing I’ve learned that I try to uphold as much as I can without sabotaging my career: do your best work, keep challenging yourself, then when it’s all done and out there, shut the fuck up about it.
