Answer to “Is Robert Jewish”? No, but he played a Yiddish musical star in the musical “Prince of Grand Street”. I believe he was mainly Irish from his Mom’s side and French/Scotch by way of Canada from his Dad’s. As for his eye color - I wanted to find that out for myself since I couldn’t tell for sure on TV so when I finally got to meet him a few times in the 70’s and 80’s, I determined that they were kind of a greyish-blue. The Music Man has been in my life as long as I can remember, so of course I've loved Robert Preston forever. As much as that classic performance I also adored him in "Victor/Victoria" and particularly in "Finnegan, Begin Again". He still had all that vitality and charisma, but it mellowed into an easy charm that was irresistible. But the burning question I have is - what colour were his eyes? Green? Hazel? Grey?
