Do I regret it? No.

1. “How can you be happy about Israel winning Eurovision when they have committed genocide etc....?” - I’m sorry but this is the most ignorant statement. Firstly, as I have said previously, I do not see the connection between Eurovision and a country's political climate. My support of Israel was support for a song which I enjoyed listening, a song with which the message of body positivity and support for the #metoo movement resonated strongly with me. And I absolutely refuse to apologise for this. Secondly, as I have also said before, the majority of countries who take part in Eurovision have treated a group of individuals in a way which you could consider ‘genocide’. Germany and its government caused the death of over 17 million individuals, and pretty much all of eastern Europe supported Germany in this political campaign. Most  UK history involves colonisation and mistreatment of individuals. I could go on and on and on but I think you probably get the point. Does this mean as an audience we can’t enjoy the musical performances of someone from that country? Again, I just don’t really see the connection between politics and a singing contest.

2. “You supporting Israel is disgusting etc...” “As a Palestinian, you’re disrespecting me and my family etc....”  “your views surrounding Israel are ignorant etc...” - Firstly, I have never expressed any views saying I support the Israeli government nor have I expressed any saying I haven’t. My blog is a fandom blog, I have never engaged in political discourse on here, and furthermore, I do not wish to. Me supporting Israel in Eurovision does not mean I do not support Palestine and do not care about the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Secondly, I have never set out to disrespect anyone or negate anyone's family history. if anything, I completely understand the struggles your family may have been through in the past and would never wish to deny that. I am constantly surrounded by people trying to deny my families past and have no wish to do that to you, so please don't start making statements about me for which you have no evidential standing. Thirdly, please don’t call me or my views ignorant. As I have said, I am a fandom blog and have never previously engaged in political discourse on Tumblr so do not understand how so many people feel they can make this assumption. I have actually been educated on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict since I was 10 and you will find I have a far greater knowledge base than most people on this topic. I also have never told anyone else their opinions are wrong or ignorant, so please show me the same respect. 

3. “How can you say you are buying a ticket to Israel to go watch it etc....?” “How can you support Israel by giving them money?” - Yes, I said “I’m going to be there for it” because as it happens I will be in Israel at that time of year anyway. I am Jewish, so I do visit Israel regularly. In the current climate, Israel IS ONE OF THE only countries in which my family and I feel we can openly and safely practice our religion. So yeah, I give money to Israel and yeah I support Israel by going on holiday there because when I am in Israel I don't get called ‘a f-ing jew’ or have my Star of David necklace ripped off my neck whilst walking home from school. So please please please don’t criticise me for going on holiday to Israel, because for one week of the year I actually feel safe and can forget that antisemitism exists and to attack me for that is completely ignorant. 

okay so that's it, I have addressed everything which I wish to address and I would be grateful if any messages you feel you need to send me in future are respectful of me, my religion and my opinions. I am happy to engage in civilised discourse but do not tolerate abuse or racism so if you have an issue take it somewhere else. 

oh goody its that kind of day

okay so firstly I never said anything about people’s dislike of Israel being silly, my only opinion was regarding Eurovision and that I don't agree with the politicism of it, you can dislike a country’s politics and still enjoy their delegates act at Eurovision. 

secondly, I was supporting Israel and a song that was written in response to #metoo so yeah I was happy for her winning with something she was passionate about.
