motorcycle riding is a kind of meditation in and of itself because you have to be totally focused on what you're doing. you're basically actively focused on not dying i.e. keeping the bike upright, avoiding hazards, etc. and one of the things that slips motorcyclists up is when their focus shifts to something that is not that. one of the first things you learn in riding (or driving, for that matter) is that whatever your eyes are focused on is what you're going to move towards. so, like, if you're concentrating on avoiding another car, or a steep cliff, but you're so locked on it that you keep looking at it....guess what direction you're going to start drifting in.
