I know it has been awhile since I lasted posted but this particular topic has been very relevant in my life lately and I would love to share my experience within dating outside my race and dating outside my religion. For disclaimer I am not a professional whatsoever this post is based off my opinions and experiences but with all my experience I should be an expert. 

For all of you who are interested or curious about dating outside your race, may want to read this blog before jump right into it. I have only dated outside my race three times and outside my religion once. 

The first time me ever dating outside my race was a White guy that I went to high school with. I was a Sophomore in college at the time and he was working. I liked the idea of experiencing something new and learning about other cultures. At that point in my life I was causally dating him for the wrong reasons. I knew I was dating him because he was white and I never dating anyone outside my race. Long story short, he was dating me for the same reason:because I was black. I realized it was not going to work because we weren’t dating each other for personality but because of race. 

So at that point I realized I wanted someone who is a little closer to my skin color. I dated a Colombian American. He was on the darker side and he was FINE!!!! He treated me like a queen and was just everything I ever dream of! He was definitely a fairy tale. I knew that he was going to be the one everything felt so right and he even drove 4 hours to see me! unfortunately it didn’t work out because of the distance. I was in school and he was 4 hours away and we couldn’t see each other all the time. 

Which brings me to recent day lol. Everyone who knows me, knows that my preference of men are Asian men! It is very difficult to find an Asian guy who is not afraid to approach me. I ended up resorting to social media and connecting with some Asian men. I then realize how many of them that really do like black women! I became instantly happy lol. This one Indian guy approached me and we started talking. Long story short, he goes to another University in the same town and we have similar goals in life. The minor problem is he’s Hindu and I’m Christian. This is the first time I’ve dated someone outside my faith. We don’t discuss religion but we are actually dating each other for personality. 

THIS IS THE PART YOU”VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!!

The Advice

If you are interested in dating someone outside your race or outside your faith keep somethings in mind!

Do NOT date the person because of their race, date them because of their personality! (Treat that person how you would treat someone who is the same race as you)

If you are dating outside your faith, to keep from arguing or breaking up try not to discuss religion 

Do try to have an understanding of that person’s culture or religion (you are dating that person so try to learn as much as you can! they would appreciate that but it should also be reciprocal)

I’m not saying change your religion but if you feel like its not going to work then save both of you the hurt and end it! (don’t be in a relationship for the wrong reasons)

Always be yourself!

Always have a positive outlook
