like okay you bought and wore a shirt with a confederate flag on it in complete ignorance as to what that flag is, and yet you wore it for a filmed public schedule anyway. i don't think that its impossible for someone to be so ignorant about the world in that way, i really don't. it makes him a total fucking senseless idiot, and yes, a racist, who has built a decade long career profiting from black american culture without caring enough about black americans as real people to be aware of basic history. racism and anti-blackness is deeply, deeply entrenched in kpop, and idols expose themselves in this manner far too often. this isn't news, despite how shocking and vile it is every time an idol does an almost bafflingly racist 'oopsie'.
the apology they released just wasn't good enough. mark is currently becoming the poster child for right-wing christian zealotry and white supremacy in kpop. whatever his intentions were don't matter. the continued silence both from the company and from mark himself is entirely off-putting at the very best. we all know that the company are seeing what people are saying, it's only getting worse every hour that passes, why are they not taking any more action? it's irreparably damaged his image at this point, and still he wont say anything? not even to defend himself from being called a right wing racist? a goddamn white supremacist?? why the fuck not, unless it is actually the truth after all? and even then surely you would want to save face for the sake of your career?? its all just absolutely fucking horrible.
