after a bit of digging, i think it's safe to say alchemist Krueger's gas mask is based off of either a Soviet PMG Nerekhta gas mask, or a 70M Hungarian gas mask. I only really know of a few differences between them with the help of some light research and digging, but yea, it was more than likely based off of one of them, i think. please correct me if im wrong or you have other insights this is so interesting and new to me

nikto doodles + rambling below cut
i was under the impression Krueger's gas mask was its own design (and it kind of is, as it has a few things added to its design for aesthetic purposes, i think), so i didn't really think anything of it when designing a gas mask for Nikto.
I didn't exactly base Nikto's mask off of any one real life gas mask example, though I think the c50 really snuck in there the most. im thinkin of redesigning it a lil later too in the final art for more triangle eyes just cause i think it fits his face better. maybe i dont totally understand the entirety of gas mask engineering, but i think his mask still works as a custom piece. heres some Nikto doodles with real gas masks tho (plus or minus a few tweaks):
the bottom three are the same as before, i just wanted them to be there for whatever reason
oh and also,, one of the differences i circled is the ring around the exhale valve on the 70m and the PMG. The white ring (70m) and the tan ring (soviet pmg). Krueger's mask has an exhale valve with a black ring, despite there never being a 70m or pmg with a darker coloured ring that i could find (it was probably coloured that way for customization to his outfit).
Anyways I just wanted to point all that out to say that Krueger's hose is connected to the exhale valve, so my guy isn't even wearing it properly AT ALL. here's what it should actually look like with a hose:

while im criticing his mask- correct me if im wrong- but pmgs and 70ms dont have darker lenses- maybe krueger used a marker or maybe you can mix n match with other masks im not aware of idfk- i dont rlly care too much abt colour accuracy in fiction compared to real life- as long as its practical anyways,,
maybe he likes being blind,, but im fixing his hose so he can AT LEAST breathe.

I was looking up Russian diminutives,, and came across a website with a list of common names in Russia, Ukraine, & Belarus,,,
Did you know Seymon (Simon) can also be spelled Semen? I think it's only pronounced semen (see-men) in Ukraine tho(?) idk im still learning

i dont know if nikto would know ukranian- part of me wants to say yea but another part of me wants to say nah or maybe just a little. So i changed him to Yegor, which also makes more since both he and Krueger are in Chimera
