NUBIAN PYRAMIDS OF SUDAN:
"why no one cares about our pyramids, do they not know it exists?" That was my sister asking me before deciding to look all what google has to offer about the pyramids of Sudan. after reading for several hours she was confused, upset and frustrated.
The answer to her question was a mix of this :
-Egyptian pyramids are bigger.
-Egyptian pyramids are older.
-the Nubians just copied the Egyptians.
And so many misinformations considering the number of pyramids on both sides, wrong names of lands and kingdoms, some even refered to North Sudan as Egypt.
So as a Sudanese and a Nubian you should understand how angry and frustrated I am. It's ok if you don't know, it's ok if you can't find enough info out there about it, but I felt like so many out there just think the pyramids of Sudan don't matter.
so here are a few informations you need to know about the pyramids of Sudan :
-we have a little over 250 small pyramids serving as tombs for the King's and Queens of the Kushiet kingdoms.
-Wich pyramids are older has been a debate for quite some time now between Sudan and Egypt and Archaeologists on both sides.
-most of them were severely damage in the past during the colonization, But the worst was done in the 1830s as the Italian Giuseppe Ferlini blew the tops off about 40 tombs during his quest for treasure.
- the most known areas for visiting pyramids in present time are Merwe Wich dates back to 300 BC, the pyramids in jabal Albarkal, the Royal cemetery in nuri, the museum of karma and several lion temples.

Duo to the political problems and the tough times we are facing in Sudan I understand why people don't visit. But if you are looking to feel like you witnessed the beginning of history that is where you need to be.
