XXI. THE WORLD

THE MOVEMENT IN THE CORNER OF HIS VISION startles him ever so slightly, eyes widening as they follow the white tail and long ears, mind racing. He has always been fond of stray cats, but they weren't so trusting and brave to simply walk alongside people, and a good look upon this critter confirms the strangeness he has sensed. 

" Well, aren't you all weird ? " He smiles at the double set of ears and other incorrect features. It's easy to say that this was nothing from this world, some sort of bakeneko ? a fucked up bunny spirit ?  It doesn't really matter, he wonders if anyone else besides him could spot it, he wonders if some sort of wanting lies behind these uncanny staring eyes. Shou lowers himself, balancing his weight on the front of his feet while extending a friendly hand. Cat, ghost, cursed spirit or whatever, the urge to pet a cute creature never goes away. 

and perhaps it was from the natural instinct to create a little chaos — as that hand comes close, kyubey almost seems to distort; physical matter twisting and wobbling, to make sure the hand doesn’t touch it. 

“that’s not very polite,” he says, monotone voice contrasting against his mischievous features. it continues to watch him, before that same voice speaks out, “is your name shou?”

and then, and only then, does it step closer – short, snowy fur almost gliding against the other’s hand. almost.
