rkyoojiminâ:
Breathless, CĂŠleste surveyed the pool deck, looking to see if the guy returned. She had to give it to him, he was fast. Flinching a bit as some water got into her eyes, she tried her best to stay afloat, all while keeping the drowning individualâs head out of the water. âYeah Iâm fine: just a foot cramp. We need to get them,â she nodded her head at the person in her arms, âto the edge of the pool first so that we can pull them out. Just.. watch for their head and make sure their face doesnât get submerged into the water.â And with that, she started to propel herself forward using her good foot towards the wall.Â
When they were about 5 meters away from the wall, CĂŠleste continued with her instructions. Or rather, she continued parroting the steps written in Red Cross handbook (to be fair though, she was stressed and couldnât think of anything on her own). âSo weâll have to slow down as we approach the wall since turning them around is the hardest part.â That much was true: CĂŠleste had nearly failed her junior lifeguarding exam for this one part.Â
âWeâll have to turn them around so that their head is facing the pool deck, body straight, using the momentum we have right now to make the transition as smooth as possible. Iâll grab one arm and hold that forearm down on the ledge as you grab hold of their other arm and pin it down on top of the arm Iâm taking care of. Their forearms should form an X, weâll work from there. Donât worry about their face falling into the water, Iâll deal with that. Ready?â
Dongmin acts on pure instincts, the situation too surreal to think about, and he truly canât be bothered to even wonder what everyone else might think of his frantic movementsâhe is afraid, not for his own sake, but he knows that one wrong move can have fatal consequences for the person who are currently in his shaky grasp. When instructed what to do, he doesnât think twice, he simply listens and trusts the lifeguard to actually know her shit. Which, granted, it seems she does.
He admires her a little when she reveals that she suffers a foot cramp, and he briefly makes a mental note to bring a small treat for her effort. Sure enough, this is her actual job, but that doesnât mean she doesnât deserve a little something for saving a human beingâbeing a lifeguard doesnât necessarily equate to putting their skills and knowledge to use, like this one is forced to do right this instant. That thought is quickly brushed away, though, as the problem is still very real.
As new instructions hits, Dongmin appears like a question mark for a significant amount of time, itâs not until she says that their forearms should form an âXâ that he understands what they are going to do next. Itâs definitely a workout and right now, he is forever grateful for his past self, who has spent time above average to build strength, because he sure needs it right now. If it werenât for adrenaline, he would likely be exhausted already. âReady,â is all he says after a firm nod.
¡ â (not) a favourite
Navigating through the immense crowd of people that has come together in the Yeouido Hangang Park has proven to be a task not that easy, especially when trying to find someone. It feels as though he has walked through the area five times already and still, no sight of his brother, his sister-in-law, and his precious little nephew. Of course, Dongmin has tried to call them multiple times by now but to no avail whatsoever, neither of them are picking up their goddamn phoneâwhich is odd, admittedly, as usually they are inseparable from their devices. He is about to finally give up, text them, then say that he is heading home instead, when he hears a familiar voice from behind.
âUncle! Uncle Dongmin!â And he melts.
Turning to face his nephew, Dongmin immediately crouches down with open arms to welcome the boy into his armsânot to say that he has a favourite out of the two children in his family but he must admit to the fact that Jiho has a special place in his heart. Whilst picking the five-year-old up, he then greets his brother and his sister-in-law, who are approaching at their own pace. âDamn, did you guys hide or something? I swear Iâve walked in circles here like five times already, but I couldnât find you!â And he is immediately hushed, told that he cannot curse in Jihoâs presence.
âAh, sorry⌠Jiho-yah, are you having fun?â He asks, partly because he wants the boy to forget all about what he said prior, but also because he is genuinely curious. Instantly, he can see Jihoâs face lighting up with a broad and toothy grin. âMmh! We ate ice cream! I wish I could have more⌠mum said that I can only have oneâŚâ Dongmin pouts in response to the youngerâs pout, then he eyes his sister-in-law, Soojung, who seems to know exactly what he is going to suggestâfortunately, she nods; she approves of his idea. âAhhh⌠really? Say, maybe itâs okay if I give you one then?â
Of course, Jiho beams again, nodding frantically when he glances over at his mum for confirmation. It melts him once again; how incredibly adorable his nephew is. âYeah! Mum, please!â To which she says alright, he can have one more ice cream since they so happened to meet uncle Dongmin (which wasnât a coincidence, but Jiho doesnât need to know that). âAlright, then! Letâs go and get you some ice cream, yeah? Tell me which you want, you can pick two flavours!â

rkseunghunâ:
everything in life was about balance, so if yesterday he allowed himself to spend the whole picnic event seated on the grass to watch the bol4 busking session and eat nice homemade food with his friend to relax after training, today seunghun felt a bit more energetic to enjoy what the yeouido hangang park had to offer. as an outdoorsy person, the boy missed walking his dog and running at the park near his old place in dongdaemun, but right now it was a luxury he couldnât ask for, so renting a bicycle for a ride with a friend like the good old days felt like a breath of fresh air, even the clock was ticking the moment they got them.Â
maybe itâs not the best day for this considering the park is a bit too crowded because of the event with cheerful kids playing everywhere, seunghun decides to make the most of it. carefully riding his bicycle not to cause any accidents, he enjoys the sunny weather listening to his favorite chill hip hop playlist. upon hearing dongmin telling him to look at something, seunghun turns his head to do so, but only has time to open his mouth to verbalize his worries, a few seconds too late to warn his friend about the risks of doing tricks there.Â
it happens in a blink of an eye, but he could swear he watched the scene in slow motion with a shocked expression.  in the heat of the moment, he slams on the brakes to stop his own bicycle and rushes over to check on the other. âyah are you okay?â seunghun asks, taking a second to look and make sure no one around them was hurt. it didnât look that serious, but the frown on his forehead doesnât go away immediately. âwhat the heck just happened? you kind of destroyed itâŚâ he nods towards the bicycle with a nervous chuckle.
it's strange how things like these happens in slow motion, but also in the blink of an eye. he could tell that something went completely wrong within a split second and yet, there was absolutely no time to react accordingly, other than to rely on instincts and perhaps muscle memory. although this idea of his to try out a trick bloomed from a video online, itâs neither his first time experimenting on a bicycle nor his first time crashing with or falling off of one. truth be told, dongmin has always been the boy that is gladly taking risks upon risks, if only that means he will get liked even more. no, he wonât admit to such a thing and no, itâs not necessarily his main goal anymore.
still, itâs a bad habit from childhood, where he thoughtlessly did anything to fit in. growing up in the us wasnât particularly easy, not always, though he certainly cannot complain. and that he doesnâtâ not now, not ever. as he somehow manages to keep up on his feet, dongmin canât help but stare at what previously used to be a perfectly good bike, as well as ashamedly gazing around the nearby area. if he had hurt someone in the process, then⌠he sighs at the thought alone, though relieved to see that he didnât hit anyone. of course, he knew that, because he would clearly have noticed if he fell onto either someone or something. âoh? ah, yeah⌠that was wild, huh?â
slightly shaken about the fact that this could have gone very wrong, dongmin laugh nervously whilst reaching up to rub the back on his neckâ it almost sounds like this was exactly what he was going for, if it wasnât for his flustered behaviour then perhaps he could have fooled seunghun. maybe not, when he thinks about it since they know each other pretty well by now. itâs the shock that makes him laugh again, and he now moves to get the bike up and out of the way. âdamn⌠i swear, the steering wheel was loose from before, but i didnât think it was⌠you know, that badâŚâ the only thing that dongmin reveals right this moment, is his incredibly poor judgement.

dongmin had every opportunity to be responsible when he noticed that the steering wheel of his bike seemed to be loose upon rental, he simply didnât choose to check into it. instead of bothering the guy that handles all the vehicles that come and go throughout the day, he thought that maybe he fixed it himself when pulling the steering wheel back in proper position. that should do, he told himself, when he then proceeded to go for a quick ride with @rkseunghun by his side, on his own bicycle.
it takes a good while before dongmin realises that the steering wheel has turned ever so slightly to the right side again, making his experience somewhat awkward, but doable. if he was a responsible human being, he would stop and make sure that his rental bicycle is alright; instead, dongmin sees it fit to be courageous and attempt a kind of tricks that he has seen someone do on Instagram a while back. âlook at this,â is all he says to before he makes a move, leaving little to no time to respond.
his cocky smirk falters immediately after, when the slightest of tugs makes the steering wheel twist fully onto the right side this time, forcing dongmin out of balance when he intended to hop on the back wheel. âoh, fuââ itâs hardly gracious how he almost falls off the bicycle, and how he almost rides right into a group of girls who are attempting to eat their seemingly home-made lunch. no, he can barely safe himself by sacrificing the bike all-together. fair enough, he supposes, itâs broken anyway.

yuzurkâ:
while yuzu was generally good at reading people, she sometimes had a bit of a hick-up in terms of reading someoneâs intentions. both her and dongmin were major flirts. neither of them expected the other to be one though. it lead to many misunderstandings and awkward situation where both had to realize they may have let their own ego get to their heads as well but beneath the line, it was a hilarious story to look back.
now they were chill with each other and while she still had some free time away from her soon to be hectic schedule and restrictive lifestyle, yuzu would take the chance to meet as many of her friends and acquaintances as she could. dongmin was definitely high up on that list.
as she waits by the front door she can hear the tell tale signs of gun firing and was that lifelineâs voice? a grin widens over her lips as he appears in front of the door a few moments later, brow raised teasingly. âranked struggles,â she asks jokingly as she makes her way inside, holding up a bag full of fried chicken and some drinks. âgot just the right thing for ya.â
sometimes, dongmin wonders why he even bothers playing video games and more specifically, why he bothers playing ranked games. when he play with strangers it often seems like he is paired with complete idiots who donât seem like they want to take it seriously and win, when he play with friends it more often than not turns out they are up against cheaters. in the end, can he ever win? at this rate, it doesnât seem that way.
today he was paired with strangers, the reason behind their loss being that they ran in alone and died instantly. it still frustrates him to a certain degree, even when exiting the game to ready the setup for something elseâhe supposes that they are gaming tonight, itâs what he has invited her over to do. âthey are such morons, i seriously donât understand why some of these people even play.â he complains, tone clearly irritated.
annoyance leaves quickly when he spots the bag of what he assumes to be chicken and beers, though whatever yuzu has brought will suffice. reaching out, he offers to take the bag so that she can easily slip out of her outerwear without worrying about dropping the food. âhere, lemme take that.â the smirk on his face appears victorious as he scans the contents within the bag. âdang, thisâ great. lemme treat you next time, yea?â

This would probably be the last time she can go out in public without being recognised- well, aside from those who knew her from her acting days- for in the following month she would be debuting as a part of Sphereâs elaborate girl group project. Modestly speaking, Eunbi knows that popularity might not be instantly, however, it is more on the matter of her becoming yet again in front of the publicâs eyes. As an active public figure, independently without the influence of her parents and all on her own choosing.Â
With all that said, she is going to enjoy every bit of freedom she can get. That includes, one of her favourite past time- eating. Swiftly dodging the crowded areas, Eunbi spots her food truck she wants to hit up first, smiling giddily to herself she slowly makes her way towards the line. Tapping on his shoulders, to capture the attention of the stranger in front of her, âexcuse me, hi- urm is still the line for the taco truck?â
Anything that provides an opportunity to meet new people is reason good enough to bring Dongmin out and about. Summer is undoubtedly the best season to simply head outside and thus, it has always been his absolute favourite season. Itâs now nearing the end and the city will soon enough experience the transition into fall, making him somewhat desperate to make the most out of the last week of what are considered the traditional summer monthsâdesperate, as in simply having fun.
Truth be told, picnics has never been something that Dongmin has suggested himself, today being of no exception. He is present at the event, though, but not necessarily by his own initiative. Though his original intention was to meet someone, she cancelled him last minute and well, since he is here, he figured he can at least buy something to snack on. As he checks out the menu of a random food truck, Dongmin feels a gentle tap to his shoulder that easily claims his otherwise spotty attention.
Well, dang. Smirking at the sight, he shrugs when gazing back at the truckâs menu. âNope, seems they have moved. Want me to help look for it?â

âYou.â She says with a straight face and cold dead stare. Sometimes patron was smart enough not to bother her when she gives them that stare, which works wonderfully for Bella when she was still working behind the counter. Other times, when the nights were dull she often relishes on moments when someone would be foolish enough to approach her nonetheless.Â
Although she holds back from placing the insult upon her friend, Yuno is definitely one of her favourite patrons around, it meant the night would get only interesting from here. âSo whatâs your poison?â Even though she knew his regular order, there is nothing wrong from making anyways, just in case he was feeling a little bit adventurous that night.Â
He snorts, loudly as a drunk person would do when insulted. They are friendly, of course, so he does not take any offence, but that does not mean he will not make a little fuzz about it. âYou barely olâ enough to work here,â he then states. Waving away the issue, though, he glances around the bar to see who is here tonightâsurely enough, he notices some familiar faces.
âYaâ know what? Surprise me!â It has ultimately gotten boring, the usual order, and Dongmin figures itâs time to try something new. Who better than to make him a new cocktail than his favourite bartender? As he knows she has officially quit the job, he has to take the opportunity when he can manage to catch her around. âSomethinâ nice, yeah?â He asks, grinning.
¡ â bad news, baby
in all honesty, dongmin doesnât understand why friends and family keeps setting him up for dates. he isnât complaining, though, because this means he doesnât have to search for himselfâbut, for what, though? he isnât particularly interested in dating, when all comes down to it. he never has been, really. despite seeing how happy his brothers are with their wives, dongmin struggles to see the same for himself.
perhaps he hasnât met the right girl yet. perhaps he simply isnât concerned with settling down yet.
historically speaking, none of his past relationships has come to life through a blind date, but that doesnât mean they arenât entertaining. no, dongmin usually has a good time, although upfront about his intentions from the get-go. sometimes that it met by disappointment, sometimes that is met by relief. it's always a fifty-fifty chance and so, dongmin wonders what todayâs encounter will result in. defeat, or triumph?
it isnât a traditional blind date, per se, because dongmin was sent a picture of her prior to arriving. reaching up to their appointed meeting place, he scans the area for someone who resembles the image on his phone. he smiles when he spots her, @rkkyungwon is a beautiful woman, indeed. âhey there. kang kyungwon-sshi, right?â she is a little older, from what he knows, he isnât jumping straight into informality.

¡ â under the ladderÂ
in retrospect, lee dongmin is a simple guy; he wants to have fun.
while group dates arenât usually something he partakes in, a classic promise is enough to intrigue him into participating in todayâs event, there will be cute girls present. he didnât ask many questionsâhow many will they be, what are they doing? none of this really matters and to be fair, not knowing makes it all more exciting anyway. so, the only thing he knows, is there will be drinking involved.
it has been a while since dongmin attended a larger gathering like this, although, that doesnât mean he has been isolated at home. no, he parties, and he hangs out with friends, but itâs not quite like where he is going now. he arrives with the boys a little late, it seems the mood is top notch already, and he scans the area and must admit, there certainly are cute girls here today, one particularly so.
he obviously remembers @rklnaeun, a summer flirt from high school, but he doesnât approach immediately. first things first, he must get himself something to drink, and maybe introduce himself to everyone that he doesnât know. how boring wouldnât it be, if he heads straight to familiar faces instantly upon entrance? he fondly remembers their time together, although, the one to end their relationship.
¡ â on my level
dongmin has already wasted an entire day on video games when yuzu finally comes over after her training, more specifically apex legends. itâs not his preferred way to spend a summer but alas, the weather gods donât seem to grant him weather good enough to be outside playing beach volley; unfortunately, it has been raining for days and there is seemingly no end to it.
it's a wonder, though. considering their bumpy ride, the pair remained friends throughout the misunderstandings; both thinking that the other might have fallen for oneself, both proved to be wrong in their assumption. itâs quite hilarious to think back on, dongmin is pleased to know that their friendship grew instead of broke down. after all, they are a funny pair together.
âhold up!â he calls from the living room, loud enough for yuzu to hear his voice through the front door. now, he is comfortable to the point where he will gladly leave her waiting, rather than lose a gameâhe is playing ranked, after all. moments later, however, he is taken down along with the rest of his team, resulting in a grunt as he moves to welcome @yuzurk inside.Â
âhey, come in.â he is obviously annoyed from the loss, though happy to see her.

rklnaeunâ:
as out of character this felt for her, naeun couldnât help but also feel incredibly confident at the same time. it was an odd paradox for her to be in, especially when she usually rejected confessions that came her when boys waited for her outside of school. thankfully for naeun, her high school was an all-female school and there were no male distractions there. outside, however, there were plenty and she looked at the taller maleâ a part of her thought that this was a bad idea while another was thriving in this situation. it was the part of her that was thriving that was coming forward, that part didnât care about all of the eyes that were on them.
âat least you know,â she muses at him, glancing around at first his friends and then at the females that were whispering to each other behind him. naeun lets out a breathy chuckle, âit doesnât seem like there is much of interest for you here either.â maybe she was being a little too cocky now but it was the adrenaline she felt inside her chest that was speaking, it was clear to her that he was confident and he knew how attractive he was but she didnât let that phase her ( a red flag really ), her common sense is telling her to be wary but she ignores it.
innocent that was what naeun was, naive and innocent despite walking up to him confidently like this, now she waits for his response while looking directly into his eyes, they were mysterious and she couldnât read his mind when she looked into them. which to her made it all the more exciting, this was a new side to herself that she hadnât experienced before.
âlee dongmin,â she repeats, her voice was mellow and soft as she said itâ smiling at him as he asks for her name. the wailing in the background makes her feel a little triumphant ( how could she not? ). something about her had intrigued him, just enough to make him want to know her name as well. naeunâs eyes widen for a moment as she hears his comment, slightly flustered she gathers herself.
âlee,â she starts, and just like it was in a romantic movie, a gust of wind comes and flows through her air, forcing her to brush it behind her ear, âlee naeun.â she ignores the boys in the background gushing over her, âso you arenât wrongâ it does match my face.â
once upon a time, dongmin did indeed find his school mates interestingâthat was then, though, back when he was a freshman and wasnât familiar with those who share his school ground. not to mention, at the time dongmin was also trying to adjust to the move to south korea and more importantly, adjust to the culture shock that came with the move. everything was fascinating back then. most of the students are admittedly quite boring, though, with the exception of those he chooses to hang out with every day; they all appear to be fun and entertaining at first glance, but upon learning their personality, there are not many who can keep up with him.
following her gaze, dongmin glances around the nearby area as well. âwell, you arenât exactly wrong.â he confirms her comment, all the while scanning every person watching the ongoing scene between them. truth be told, if dongmin ever were to be present during something like this, he would likely have been observing himself. itâs exciting, after all, no matter how cool he is going to play this off later. âhowever, something has caught my interest now.â he looks her straight in the eye when he implies to approving of her presence, he doesnât necessarily say that his interest lies with her but everyone undoubtedly knows that is precisely what he means.
instinctively, dongmin reaches out when the wind blows through her at perfect timing, smiling fondly at the sight in front of him. does he know itâs risky? yeah. does he do it anyway? yeah. gentle fingers of his right-hand fiddles with naeunâs hair, only to then push the natural locks behind her cute little ear. âit sure does fit your face,â he confirms. if dongmin were to give advice, he would tell her to stay awayâhis words, his actions; they are all clear warning signals. âsay, lee naeun-sshi, should we go somewhere else?â he has already retrieved his hand by the time he tries to tempt her along, both hands lazily tucked into the pockets of his school uniform.
it would be a lie to say he has forgotten all about the intrigued viewers but dongmin sure behaves as though they are not there, as though the only person he can see is the mysterious girl in front of him. having come this far now, he is determined to see how far he can stretch it, how long it will take before he becomes bored because in the end, he always does.

This is not the first time sheâs snuck back into the bar despite resigning a while back. Although she canât be blamed considering that she spent most of her time here from when she first arrived in Seoul from Osaka all those years ago. The scene - an extent, this bar- has become a home to her. With it, the regular become her extended family, some times even closer than her actual relatives.
They have been texting the whole night, but it wasnât until a few minutes ago did she decide to appear before him. To be fair, she did just get in and started pretending to still be a part of the crew, some of whom has already thrown her amused stare. She sends them a cheeky grin before turning to Yuno, âwhat can I help ya with kid?â
It's safe to say that Dongmin has had quite enough to drink already, by the time he reaches Oliviaâs old workplace he has been unable to text properly for a whileâhonestly, itâs a wonder how he was allowed into the premises. Despite being in good company of friends, all he wants is to meet up with his favourite bartender, who he generally understands has resigned a few months prior.
In fact, he has been complaining and whining about her absence ever sinceâwell, from before arriving. A whole bunch of text messages later, Dongmin finally hear her voice and he strictly must remind himself not to fondly cup her cute little face. He is helped along the way when she chooses to continue to tease by disrespectfully referring to him as âkidâ. âYah! Who yaâ calling a kid, huh?â

CĂŠleste yawned. Her supervisor shot her a disapproving glare before walking away. She sat up immediately. As much as she liked her pay, CĂŠleste hated the lifeguarding part of her job. It was just so boring. Her attention slipped easily, and the monotony of the job didnât help either. But still, she had to stay 100% alert in case of emergencies. What a bore.Â
A figure in the deep end interrupted her thoughts. Squinting at the person, CĂŠleste gasped a bit. âShit.â A drowning (or at least exhausted) swimmer.Â
CĂŠleste quickly blew her whistle for attention and yelled for everyone to get out as she clambered down the chair. That swimmer was a danger to everyone right now, and she didnât have the capacity to deal with another injured/drowning person.Â
âHey!! Can you hear me??â No verbal response, only a tiny splash. CĂŠleste continued yelling, following protocol. âDo you need help?â Again, another splash. âIâm going to throw you this swimming aid âkay? Try to hang on to it so that we can haul you up on deck.â She threw the aid, with the aid landing right in front of the swimmerâs chest. They were slipping away though, starting to lose consciousness. It looked like CĂŠleste really needed to do an in-water rescue today. âHey you!â she pointed at a nearby swimmer. âYeah, you! Grab a first aid kit and come back asap.â
CĂŠleste slid into the pool, freestyling with her head up to the swimmer. Not even 10m in her swim though, she felt a foot cramp coming in. Crap. Sheâd need to call for more help, but right now, she needed to focus on getting the swimmerâs face out of water. Wedging the aid in between their arms and back, CĂŠleste grabbed hold of the aid and starting treading back to the wall.
CĂŠleste had a choice to make. Either she try and pull the person out of the pool herself, or she wait for the bystander to return. As she maneuvered the swimmerâs arms onto the ledge though, CĂŠleste realized that she was way too exhausted to even attempt a single-person exit. Wincing at a throb of pain from her foot, she waited for the guy to return
Historically Dongmin spends his day at the pool with friends, however, today proving to be different as he intends to get a bit of workout done. He is deeply focused when he hears the whistle, the piercing sound causing a startle that makes him halt his movements instantlyâinstinctively, he gazes around the pool to see whether he can be of aid somehow.
His eyes lands on the lifeguard the very moment she points in his direction, her alarming gesture soon followed by a very clear order. He has to give it to her, though, how efficiently and properly she is handling whatever is going on (he still hasnât found the situation at hand), but he figures he will have to applaud her later, even if she is simply doing her job.
Freestyling out of the water, Dongmin is quick on his feet once back on deck although unsure where exactly to goâluckily, he seems to be heading the correct direction as he easily spots the kit on his way. His heart is racing throughout the entire scene, though only realising the gravity of the situation when he sees the female has slipped into the water.
âItâs herâoh, shitâŚâ Dongmin calls out to gain her attention once nearing the edge, only to observe that she appears to be struggling a bit herself. âUh, fuckâŚâ He mutters a curse, there is no hesitation in his moves as he dives back into the water and quickly swims over to the location of the lifeguard and the helpless individual that she bravely tries to help.
He too tugs and pushes the swimmer to help him fully onto the swimming aid, hoping that his actions are of use. âYou okay? Tell me what to do,â he commands her to direct him. If he wanted to get a workout done today, Dongmin sure seems to be getting one from thisânow, he knows that saving someone from drowning isnât an easy task whatsoever.

she wasnât a stranger to peopleâs eyes on herâ in her own school she was also known, for her grades, family and looks. so when she felt people looking at her here, she wasnât even a little bit phased because she knew that she was pretty ( although she didnât like to rub it into othersâ faces, she still knew ). now when she had told her friends in her school that she would be doing this, they had looked at her with wide eyes, she was usually careful and not this bold. however, she knew it would be a shame to miss her chance, what if he was single? maybe heâd be interested ( maybe not, she was sure she wouldnât see him again if that were the case ).
naeun had maneuvered past his friends to get to him, figuring they had wanted to shoot their shot before himâ she had different plans and they didnât include them.
a small smile curves her lips as he replies to her, his tone familiar even though they donât know each other and she had only caught a glimpse of him beforeâ his next comment makes her smile turn slightly playful.
âi should be but iâm here,â she lefts her brows in the middle of the sentence, as if she was making a point and as if she was supposed to be there, âiâm fine missing a couple classes.â
it wasnât a lie, naeun was always in the top 10 in her year, so she was fine missing classes ( her parents wouldnât like it for sure but she didnât care in the moment she was running on a sort of adrenaline ).
âiâm here to see you, what other reason is there?â
naeun says this quite matter of factly, wasnât this the only reasonable solution for her to be there? her eyes shifted from the male for a moment, looking at the students that had surrounded them, girls whispering to themselves. they admired her courage to do thisâ while at the same time they were jealous that she had managed to catch his attention.
she exhaled before turning her head to look at him again, âwhat is your name?â
the way he looked was truly as close to her ideal as one could get but from the burning eyes on her, she could tell that he was multiple girlsâ ( and probably boysâ ) ideal as well.
it would have been a blatant lie if dongmin ever said that he didnât enjoy the attention, the glances and the whispers that comes in response to his presenceâwhether that be due to his looks alone or because he does something noteworthy, he thrives in it regardless. whilst generally known as bad news to anyone who is interested romantically, it doesnât stop people from circling around him and attempting to make his acquaintance. after all, dongmin is good-looking and dongmin is rich, that being a solid combination that attracts interest from just about anyone who is vain and materialistic. which, undoubtedly, most people are in society today.
part of him has a feeling that this girl is different, the one that so casually and confidently approaches him by the school entrance. to hear that she is willingly missing classes to see him is either brave or stupid, he doesnât care to give it a second though, but it brings a cocky grin to his lips, nonetheless. it's her decision after all, if she want to risk her grades then that is on her, and herself alone. âyou certainly are,â he says in response. obviously, she is here, instead of in classes, that much he can see with his otherwise perfect vision. dongmin lets out a breathy chuckle when she claims that she is fine missing classes, agreeing to that by a couple nods.
âi suppose you have a point, there isnât much else of interest here.â he says, eyes squinting gently into creased moons. it's safe to say that dongmin is intrigued by her presence, he notices an urge to figure out who exactly she is. he is well aware that everyone is staring hard, like their eyes are about to pop out of their heads in intense curiosityâas if they havenât seen two people interact before, as if they havenât seen a male and a female make a move on one another. there is an odd kind of tension between them, an unspoken challenge of who breaks character first. dongmin is confident it isnât going to be him; he is quite used to playing this game.
he doesnât respond at first, he drags the moment for added tension but still, there is a curve to his lips. âmy name is lee. dong. min.â his dark chocolate brown eyes are at her only when he voices his name as clear but natural as possible, wanting there to be no doubt about it. funny how they are barely speaking and yet, this is likely the most exciting thing that will happen to most of his schoolmateâs day today. sad, honestly. ânow, yours?â he notices distant weeping and can only assume itâs someone feeling heartbroken, patheticâyet, he canât be bothered to spare them a glance. âit must be something beautiful, i reckon, to match your beautiful face.â
