now that his potential problem was solved, he felt his shoulders relax and his facial expression softened a bit. “oh okay, i’m glad you didn’t read anything embarrassing or i would’ve to quit,” he said with a shake of his head before a chuckle escaped him. to be fair, there wasn’t anything really that embarrassing, but just the thought of someone reading things that he only showed to a few close friends was enough to make the trainee blush. “yeah thank you for finding it for me!” he repeated with a smile. 

and there’s a lesson he learned from a very young age from his strict mom: when someone does something helpful to you, you should return the favor with something. maybe giving back his notebook was just the polite and right thing to do, but it was still appreciated, so he would feel bad leaving with a simple ‘thank you’ after that. “you sure?” he asked. “should we grab a drink at the café across the street then? it’s on me!” the boy suggested. not only it was a way to pay her back, but also a chance to get to know the girl since they were training together but rarely had time to talk. 

“or you can tell me when you want to sneak out and i’ll distract the coaches,” he laughed, clearly joking about the last suggestion. not that he wouldn’t help one of his friends to get away with it if needed, but as a ‘new’ trainee there (with a lawful good personality) maybe it wasn’t the best idea to encourage such things.

“I just figured, I wouldn't like it if someone went through my personal things either,” she chuckled, though if she'd been entirely honest she would've added that she may have gone through it, had something really caught her eye. But no one needed to know that.

“You're welcome, but it's the least I could do,” she said, “Yep, I haven't really had a break for a while anyway, I'd like that,” Chaeryeong smiled. While she could've continued for a while, the girl really had been practising without break for a long time and similar to him, she felt it could never hurt to get to know someone better. Especially when both have been trainees for a bit. Admittedly, though, she was usually way too focused on training to concentrate on socialising during practise.

he did have to grin just that little bit wider when she ever so casually offered him her help again if he ever needed to sneak out something else. “and here i thought you were still against being a lookout,” he responded with a laugh, hoisting the strap of his bag a little more up his shoulder. “end up having fun?” though he didn’t really see how just standing outside the door on your phone could be much fun, he wasn’t going to judge. or complain about the extra help she was willing to give him. 

not wanting to hang around for much longer just in case someone came along and got suspicious, jordan started to lead the way back towards his locker so he could store his bag. it wasn’t that much of a walk, and then they would be free to go and grab some coffee. “no, i didn’t really have anywhere in mind,” he responded as they walked, shrugging a little at the posed question, “i know there’s this cafe just a little down the street, we could go there? just to get out of this building for a bit, you know?” 

“Well, I guess it's better than sitting around, doing not much of anything,” she grinned, though she didn't really have a problem finding something to entertain herself, usually. But anything was better than being alone, not that she'd ever actually say that. “Gotta seek a bit of a thrill every now and then, right?” she joked, after all there hadn't really been much to it, no trainer walked by, no one wanted to get into the room or anything like that.

being fast had been the whole point, he didn’t really want to run the risk of someone coming along and walking in on his master plan and ruining everything. so he had rather made the effort to slip in and out as fast as he possibly could and was actually quite pleased that he had managed to get it all done without any interrupting. 

“told you i wouldn’t be very long,” he did have to offer with a slight grin as he lazily shoved his hands into his pockets, “and i’m a man of my word.” and he hadn’t wanted to keep her waiting and she was willing to help him out and he hadn’t promised her anything for compensation. leaving her awkwardly outside the door for a very long time was probably not a good way to go about showing his appreciation for the help. 

“coffee sounds good, actually,” he didn’t have anything else taking up his time at the moment. but she did make a good point that he should probably drop the bag with the expensive microphone off somewhere safe first beforehand. “via my locker,” he added with a slight laugh. though that would mean he would need to remember to actually take the microphone home with him at the end of the day and not accidentally leave it shut in his locker all night. the longer it went not its its proper home the more likely it was someone was actually going to notice it was missing. 

"That, you did," she half-smiled in return. "If you need to… borrow something again, you know where I am," she winked, quite in contrast to her previous doubts. Really, she wasn't exactly a "lawfully good" kind of person, but rather acted the way that would benefit her most. But the building held tons of microphones, so one missing for a night shouldn't be too much of a problem, or even get noticed in the first place.

She nodded in answer, very much looking forward to coffee any time of the day. She saw coffee similarly to how she expected a machine would feel about it's fuel, if a machine would've been able to. And once the microphone would safe, it would finally be coffee-time, a lift to her already rather light mood.

once they’re settled down and sitting comfortably, he grabs the bag the carrot cookies are in and reaches inside, watching the pup as he does. he seems alert to what’s about to transpire and he can’t help but gush, grasping onto the cloth of his t-shirt just in front of his chest. “so cute!” he murmurs, breaking a small piece off of the cookie before leaning down to offer it to the dog. “i’m sure you wouldn’t blame me if i stole him, would you?”

he’s joking, of course, but there’s also a part of him that wishes it wouldn’t be illegal if he chose to do it. he think if those purge movies ever became reality, the first thing he’d do would be to steal a dog, though he’d probably end up giving it back in the end.

“tips or tricks?” he repeats, sitting back up straight when the question is asked. he’s never been good at giving advice, but as a senior he feels obligated to give a good answer, so he mulls it over for a bit, looking back on his several years of training, taking a moment to reflect on it all in a general sense.

“i don’t know if there’s anything that’ll make it easier,” he says finally, shaking his head. “if it’s easy, then you’re not working hard enough. you’ll get left behind by the others if you’re taking it too easy.” he purses his lips, wondering if his words are coming off a bit harsh. “i guess, for me, the fun is in getting better all the time, so i’m constantly striving to surpass my own goals for myself, you know?”

he stops to have a laugh at himself. “i probably sound full of it, don’t i?”

"No, but you'd have to deal with my aunt's friend. I'm not sure you want to face her when angry, especially when she's angry because her dog was stolen," Chaeryeong chuckled at the male's reaction, not much of an expressive person in this regard, no matter how cute this puppy was, but she did understand the feeling, at least to a certain degree.

Her question wasn't all too serious, after all she'd manage either way, she was sure, but at the same time, someone who's trained for longer, would have more knowledge, no? And more knowledge could never hurt.

She nodded, still smiling, surprisingly liking his answer. Most people answered this in a 'just do this and you'll have it a little bit easier' or 'remember to take enough breaks!!' kind of way, making her wonder if they actually wanted to help her, or rather better their own chances through making her put in less effort.

"Not at all," she chuckled, leaning forward just a little bit, as though she was going to say something secret, "I'm a bit similar, I think. Surpassing someone else is one thing, but surpassing one's own limits feels much better!"

September Evaluation - TRC Ent. Zimzalabim - Red Velvet (Irene)

“hm…well i guess i could be inconsistent and indecisive?” it kind of made sense to her — she always felt like she was inconsistent during practices, knocking it out of the park one day and then absolutely sucking the next, and she’s been working on trying to fix that. “i’m not that good at making decisions. i can’t even choose what to eat for dinner most days.” which is why she usually defers to chaeryeong when they stay late to practice, because she’s okay with whatever and the other girl never chooses badly.

“me too! i wouldn’t know what i would do without you.” when she first heard about this evaluation, she was terrified that she would have to team up with people that she didn’t know, and have to get acquainted with them and make friends all over again. but the fact that chaeryeong turned out to be a gemini had to be sign right? a sign that they should debut together, if only trc would see it the same way. “but yeah, i guess that’s our sun sign and then we have moons and risings as well but…i don’t actually know anything about those.”

she moves next to her friend, suddenly interested in her compatibility with this madtown member who probably ( definitely ) wouldn’t even look at her if she passed by him. not that it matters because she finds herself thinking about another boy way too much to be swayed, even by her bias. but still, she’s kind of curious. “i think he’s a pisces? she looks over chaeryeong’s shoulder at her phone.” what does it say?”

"We make a whole gemini, it seems," Chaeryeong chuckled. And she felt much the same way that Yeji did, hoping they'd end up in the same group. She saw herself in trc, of course, it's been her dream company for a while, just looking at the music their groups released so far, but she didn't care too much as long as her dancing could shine and she was with Yeji.

Even if she was good at making new acquaintances and friends, barely anyone knew her as much as Yeji did, mainly because she much rather showed what people wanted to see or what was necessary to get what or where she wanted, but Yeji was the exception.

Again, she chuckled, "Me neither, but we only need our sun sign, right? So it's enough if we concentrate on that… though, I have to say, I really didn't expect anything like this. I mean it's good to potentially see everyone with strangers and how we'll manage, but I do wonder who comes up with these ideas."

eparing himself in case his yellow notebook wasn’t in that practice room. the trainee remembered scribbling some notes there a few hours ago, but it didn’t mean that it was really the last time he used it or that other person didn’t find it first and placed it somewhere else. the possibilities were vast and he could already feel a headache coming in case he couldn’t go home with it. not that it would be the end of the world, but still a big inconvenience considering all the lyrics in progress that he had.

while he feels bad for interrupting the girl, he could only hope it wouldn’t take long, after all, the empty dance studio didn’t have many spots for it to hide. stepping in, his eyes follow the girl as she walks over to her bag after his question, wondering if she had something for him or if she was just trying to get a bottle of water to hydrate herself after practice. “oh?” he is too pleasantly surprised and thankful to form a coherent sentence, recognizing the old yellow cover right away. “yes, yes, it’s this one!” he nods with a relieved smile. seunghun can’t believe his eyes. 

“lee chaeryeong, you’re a lifesaver!” he exclaims, looking at his moleskine like it was his precious child. “thank you so much! i was really convinced i lost it this time,” the trainee grins, looking back at the girl when a question crosses his mind. “did you… read it?” he asks, more out of curiosity than anything else. while he didn’t like showing his lyrics and silly thoughts to people, he wouldn’t get mad if she read some pages because maybe he would too.  with the notebook in hands, he sighs in relief. “anyway, i should pay you back for keeping it safe for me. are you done with practice?”

For a moment the girl considers to pull it back, tease the male a little, something in the direction of “Wait! What do I get in return?”, but quickly scratches the thought. There was nothing she wanted in return and she could see his relief, so this would be rather mean. And while she sometimes had mean thoughts here and there (though really, who didn't?) she never actually acted that way.

“Not really,” she said rather more earnest than usual, “though I did skip through some pages to see if there was any signs of who it belonged to,” she continued, though that was only half true. She did check for the owner, but a bit of curiosity played part as well. “But I'm glad it found its way back to you,” she smiled. There was still a bit of difficulty for her in being earnestly happy for others and caring about things that didn't have much to do with her, but she was getting there, she felt.

well, jordan supposed that it would only be a good payoff if you happened to like the sort of videos he produced. and he knew well enough that a lot of people didn’t and just thought he was weird and created too much mess. but he wasn’t thinking about that, he was just sure that she was going to enjoy the video. if she even watched it in the first place, she might not even be interested. but either way, he was thankful that he had her help for this just in case someone did happen to come along and try to ruin his fun. 

it was easy enough to slip into the room, shrugging his empty backpack off and zipping it open. though taking the microphone down and finding all the correct wires he was going to need took a little longer than expected. it would be stupid if he got back home to find he was forgetting something and the microphone wasn’t going to even turn on and work properly. so he was careful, though trying to be as quick as possible as he carefully wrapped everything up tidy and shoved it into his bag

ten minutes later he was finally leaving the room, a grin on his face and a full backpack strapped on his back. “see, told you you had an easy job,” he couldn’t help but point out as he wandered over to where she was waiting, “no one even came along.”

The whole thing was over much faster than expected, she'd barely answered a couple of messages and scrolled through social media for a bit, when he was already outside again. Slipping her phone back into her bag, she nodded, pushing herself off of the wall.

“You were awfully fast, I barely started looking through instagram,” she joked. By now she really didn't expect anything more to actually happen, even if there were cameras around, they'd first have to notice the missing microphone and it wasn't like that was the only microphone around. She's really worried for nothing.

his expression immediately brightens as soon as she mentions carrots and he’s quick to order a couple of them, even though he’s not sure if the pup would be allowed to eat that much. if anything, she could save them for later, or he could even eat them himself, but he’s never really been fond of carrot-flavored desserts. 

“you’ll love the tiramisu, promise!” he says, beaming brightly. it’s his usual go-to order whenever he came to this particular cafe, but because chaeryeong had already ordered it and he wanted to try something new, he takes a look at the display case again, looking over all the desserts they had to offer. “hm… then i think i’ll have the cinnamon crumb cake this time around, and just a glass of water.”

he places his order then pays for the total of all the items, shoving the receipt in his pocket as he grabs the bakery items, handing the treats and tiramisu over to her. “the carrots are for mudkip~” he says happily as he moves over to where her they’ll hand over her coffee once it’s done.

“so how have things been going for you?” he asks vaguely, hoping she’ll pick up that he’s asking about training in general. he’s always been overly wary about the rule that they can’t announce their status as a trainee in public, even though he’s been a public trainee for a while now. “you’re not finding anything too difficult, i hope?”

Usually, she was more of a... neutral kind of person, but his bright personality seemed to be contagious.

“I'm sure I will,” she smiled back. His choice seemed just as delicious and since it wasn't impossibly far away, she decided to come back here sometime soon to try everything at least once. It'd probably take a while, especially with seasonal choices, but if it was worth it, it was worth it and she'd soon find out.

“Thank you, I'm sure Mudkip will be excited,” she smiled, glancing down. It was as though Mudkip could sense that there  would be something in it for him as well, just judging by his attentive eyes and wagging tail. He'd looked happy before, but this definitely different, even she could see that, his eyes awake and he looked ready to start snacking any second.

“Hmm, exhausting, but good,” she answered earnestly once they were sitting, though careful of her wording. Half a year was surely enough to get the hang of things, especially for someone, who usually adapted pretty quickly. “A bit more free time would be nice, but I've always spend half the day dancing anyway,” she chuckled.

August Evaluation - TRC Ent Laundry Pizza

Laundry Pizza was an easy choice for Chaeryeong, though she'd considered some of the other choices for a moment or two as well, this is what she wanted to do most. Tons of idols have been here and she liked the colourful, retro interior design. It was easy to forget that this was actually a restaurant and she'd loved to eat here as well, but doubted that trc would let them. Really, after a long day of hard work, that would've been a treat, but well, she could always come back some day and see if the pizza was really all that good, or if it was just a good place to take nice photos in.

“not yet…” her voice trails off as she looks nervously at the scene around her, with some trainees sitting on the edge of the table, posing for the cameras as she hears the voice of the director giving instructions and the bright flashing light of a picture being taken. some trainees were still in their makeup chairs, with chatter all around them and the sound of hairdryers being used at maximum capacity to get everyone done in time. it’s chaotic, but at the same time, yeji kind of likes this chaos. she expected it to stress her out, but it oddly makes her kind of calm, which somehow turned out to be the opposite of what she thought.

still, the longer she waits the more anxious she becomes, and by now she just wants to do it and get it over with so she can think about something else. but at least she can take her mind off of it for now with her friend next to her. yeji turns to chaeryeong suddenly. “do you think they’ll let us take pictures together?” she thought this would have to be an individual sort of thing, so the idea hadn’t even crossed her mind. but now that the other girl mentioned it, it would be a relief to be able to team up with someone, at least just to take the pressure off being there alone and having someone as a safety net.

“don’t you think we would have some great pictures together? the ones that we take in the practice room already look nice, imagine if we had hair and makeup and a professional photographer too.” she laughs, thinking back to all the late night practices they had that ended in them taking their phones out and taking pictures, camera roll filled with photos of them posing in front the practice room mirrors. if she tells herself that it’s not so different from that, maybe she won’t freak out so much about this evaluation.

Being somewhere between calm and excited, Chaeryeong can't help enjoying this rather different from usual kind of evaluation. Sure, she still hoped at least the next eval would focus on dancing (preferably only dancing), but this would always be helpful for the future, especially with the hopes of eventually debuting one day.

With a half-smile on her face, Chaeryeong suppressed a little sigh. “We definitely have to take photos alone, but maybe after everyone's done?” There wasn't much hope in her voice, but she did wish it to be the case. It'd be nice to have some professionally taken photos with the elder. Not that she didn't enjoy selfies, but this was a different category of photo. And with the whole setting, she could imagine very neat pictures.

this was all going to go perfectly fine and they were going to pull the perfect heist and no one was going to be any the wiser. that was the plan and jordan was sure if he continued to be confident in it then it was going to go just like he wanted and there would be absolutely zero issues. and it was even better that he had an extra pair of eyes as he certainly hadn’t counted on it an was planning on just going head first into things and doing it all by himself. 

“yeah, it’ll be worth the wait. all that curiosity i am sure you are feeling will be paid off in the end,” he liked to this so, anyway. usually all his videos were well received and people ended up being amused by it all. though he had some failures in the past, he didn’t think it would happen this time. he had a good idea. 

the question was a good one and he paused for a moment, “i don’t know, start talking to whoever it is and i’ll hear you.”  he liked to think he would hear them, maybe if he made extra sure to listen out for it. “but don’t worry, you go this,” he grinned at her before moving closer to the practice room he was aiming for. “you ready? i’m going in. won’t be a sec.”

“Well, that better be the case,” she joked. Standing around really wasn't the kind of task that needed to be paid, so she'd been fine even without the video. But of course, now she was curious, so she would definitely watch it, wanting to see the result of her “hard work”.

She nodded, that much she could do, though, were the walls really not too thick? Maybe she'd just lean against the wall and stomp the door to push herself off, or something like that. She'd think of something, either way. Of course, if he really was found out, she could always claim to have been waiting for someone and pretend she had nothing to do with it, but... that thought made Chaeryeong feel uncharacteristically guilty. Maybe not an option after all.

a wide grin spreads quickly on his face as soon as he hears her answer, displaying his excitement. even though he’s never had a dog of his own, he knows just how much dogs loves treats—after all, it would be difficult to train them without it! plus, he’s been able to feed some of his friends’ dogs treats and they were always so excited when he did. he supposes he’d also be happy to do so if he were a dog. not so much as a human, seeing as how he needed to look after his physique, especially after he’d been signed as a trainee.

“great!” he says, nodding his head as they approach the counter, display case next to it showcasing all the baked treats they were selling, as well as a rather extensive coffee menu on display above. “do you know what his favorite treats are?”

even as he asks, he is drawn to the display case, making small conversation with the staff behind it, asking which ones would be dog friendly. after getting some solid advice about carrot cookies, he keeps it at the back of his mind as an option before turning back to chaeryeong. “go ahead and order,” he says with a smile before taking another long look at the pup on a leash. he really would never grow tired of watching dogs, no matter the breed or size. they were just always so full of joy, and that, in turn, filled him with joy.

“for humans, their tiramisu is really good,” he says, tearing his eyes off the ball of fluff to look at his fellow trainee again. “and i heard the caffe macchiato is also really good, but i wouldn’t really know since i don’t really drink too much caffeine.”

His question made Chaeryeong halt for a moment. His favourite treats? She had no idea, the owner simply left a box of them, but she'd left them home, figuring there'd be no need for them on their walk, though it'd probably been smart to bring them, simply just for rewarding good behaviour here and there. Well, now she was smarter.

"I'm not sure," she admitted, "but he really likes meat, if that helps. Oh and he loves carrots and broccoli!" It was still surprising to her that the puppy was that wild about vegetables. She only knew that cats weren't supposed to have much outside of meat, and that dogs could have a bigger variety of foods, but that was the limit of her knowledge.

"Tiramisu?" she repeated after him, smiling, "then I'll try that, thanks!" turning to the cashier, she gave him her order, the Tiramisu and a Chocolate Mocha. She’s always preferred stronger, a bit more bitter coffee, yet loved to eat sweets occasionally.

she thinks if anything, her and chaeryeong should host it together, although she’s not sure if that’s just her personal bias speaking. in reality, maybe the other girl deserves it more than she does, but that doesn’t stop yeji from foolishly wishing for them to do it until the end — audition together, make it in together, and host a show together. maybe if the company staff sees how good they are together, then they’ll have to put them in the same show.

then again, she doesn’t know anything about the minds of the staff, and she has no idea what they’re thinking or what they’re looking for.

but she agrees with chaeryeong, that it would be more awkward to put strangers together, and since they’re already friends then they would have an already established chemistry. that doesn’t mean she won’t overthink everything and need to remind herself to take deep breaths before she goes into the room, with one last look at her friend and an encouraging smile.

she smiles casually as chaeryeong says her lines, remembering the ones that she had read over and over as she memorized it in preparation for this moment. the choreography that they had prepared was one that she had liked as soon as she saw it, interesting and eye catching and so difficult that she thought she wouldn’t even be able to do it. but late night practice sessions with chaeryeong had made her strive for more, and by the end of it all the hand motions had become like muscle memory.

“yes, today we’ll be doing irene and seulgi’s naughty, which is a futuristic track that combines elements of tutting and voguing in the choreography! the dance might look intimidating, but don’t worry, we’ll break it down for you!” she grins at the camera as she starts with the first move, positioning her arms as she tries to explain the movements slowly.

She knew they would do well, it was just a matter of how well everyone else who auditioned was, and how whoever made the final decisions would view them. She may not have much variety experience, but she knew how to explain dances and fully trusted Yeji. They may even have a chance and even if not, at least they gained some experience.

Chaeryeong nodded along as Yeji continued with her lines, smiling all the while, both because she was supposed to, and because she was excited for the choreography. When she’d first seen it, it immediately caught her eyes and she knew she had to learn it one way or the other, sooner rather than later. The smooth, precise movements were just her style, just like the interesting hand gestures. If one of the two dancers was off in any way, it would obviously show, feel off and that was something she’d quite enjoyed while practising. Striving for perfection.

Of course, right now, they were showing movements slowly, one by one, so potential viewers could learn. And as excited as she was, she didn’t forget what the goal was, or her next lines for that matter.
