Status Report 28/04
Last Sunday the team met to divide our roles into which sources are being interviewed by whom. I'm in charge of looking for a local historian knowledgeable about the Graham Confederate Statue's origins and the historical implications of it being taken down. I'm also planning to travel to Elon, NC to follow up in person with potential sources.

Next Project
One project done, on to the next one! I’ll be working in a group with some classmates to create a web article analyzing the controversy involving taking down Confederate statues in Graham, NC. Here we go again!
Finally Done
Days of filming, reshoots, and editing, I can finally say that the My Story video is done! I’ll be posting it on YouTube tonight.
Getting ready to film
Almost time to shoot! The phone tripod for filming my shots arrived last weekend, as well as a cable for my computer I could use for B-roll! I’m finishing up my script and outline for what I’m gonna say and show, and I’m gathering research on gaming I could use for the video. Funny enough, some of this research is also good for an unrelated project for a different class. I think I’ll be able to finish filming by tonight and start editing either today or tomorrow!
Project Update
I was looking over my childhood photos to find any that have me playing any games (board, card, video, etc.) and I only found about 4-5. Yikes.
One thing I could do is make the first half of my video talking about my childhood and gaming, while using psychological research on the effects of gaming for my video. I would have to make it relevant to my growth as well.

Telling My Story project
For this video project, I decided to talk about how gaming has been an important part of my life growing up, how it made me the person I am, and the skills I have gotten from gaming. I started playing games from a very early age with a Nintendo 64, but I didn't actually have a vested interest until I started playing Pokemon Sapphire when I was 4-5 years old. From then on, I would always have an interest in games, whether it was card games like Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon, to actual video games on Gameboy Advance, Playstation 2, Nintendo DS, Xbox 360, and so on.
Shortly after starting high school in 7th grade, I joined the technology club and met the teacher who would become my mentor, the advisor for the technology club. I got into Magic: the Gathering in 10th grade after watching some friends play it at school. In the summer of 2016, I took a class taught by my mentor, where I would build my first gaming PC.
After graduating high school and enrolling at Elon University, I got involved in many clubs where I could continue pursuing my interests in gaming. In the Tabletop Gaming Club, I started playing Dungeons and Dragons, the tabletop Role Playing Game. I also joined Elon eSports, but was not involved as much until my senior year with the COVID-19 pandemic.
All my time gaming, I have learned a variety of skills that can help me in the real world. I have learned how to think on my feet and visualize potential solutions thanks to puzzle games and platformers. I am capable of creating effective plans from playing RPGs, and my time playing competitive games has taught me how to work as part of a team to complete goals.
