Remus J. Lupin

  "You’re the one dating the drama queen." Sirius stated still playing with Remus’ hair frowning. "Yeah, she told me already. I kept two secrets from him this year."

"Mm, so I am... if only I could go back and warn myself..." He rolled his head and smirked at him to show him he was teasing. "Neither of those secrets were "By the way, I'm a werewolf, and once a month I get an urge for human flesh."" Remus unfolded his arms and he stroked Sirius's knee. "I still think the two of you will be okay..."

Smiling Sirius continued playing with Remus’ hair slowly. “No. I hurt him Remus, and I don’t know if he’ll talk to me again.”

"Drama queen..." Remus muttered, not having the energy to do more than that. "I spoke with him too, you know... he doesn't seem to be disowning me. Also, I may have told Lily..."

"Wish I could help." Frowning Sirius leaned back with Remus still running his fingers through the other’s hair. Pursing his lips he frowned. "Just trying to lay low for a while I guess."

"I don't want to sound sappy but you kind of already are..." He shifted to get more comfortable, crossing his arms low in his lap. "Have you spoken with James yet?"

"Why do you have a headache?" Sirius asked as he reached over carding his fingers through the other’s hair. "Not much."

"If I knew that, I would find a way to make them stop. They're getting better though, I think whatever it is is passing..." He closed his eyes and leaned back, taking a deep breath. "Mm... doesn't sound like you..."

"Not too much... dealing with a headache..." He moved and sat down. "What about you...?"

Tapping a unused fag on the table Sirius read over his potions homework making sure he got everything right before putting it away.

Remus's eyes opened slowly when he heard her sit down with him and he looked over at her. "Mm... what was your first clue?" There was no animosity in his voice, he wasn't sure he could have worked up the energy to be mean to anyone at that point. He tapped ash off his cigarette as he looked over at her. "I got some very sound advice on how to quit, I almost feel bad for falling off the bandwagon. I almost made it a month!" He pulled the cigarette back in. "How are you, Marlene? You look as tired as I feel..."

"Yeah, I have some Motrin, though it’s back in my room.  I’m guessing you would like some for that headache of yours?" he chuckled.  Apparently the headache was a little worse then Remus let on with how his eyes brightened at the mention of pain relievers.  "There’s no one around, so you could have just asked."

"I think you are clearly underestimating the amount of pride I still have, despite this damnable headache." He took another deep draw from his cigarette before he snuffed it out. He blew a lazy smoke ring that was thin and quickly losing its shape. He reached up and swirled his arm through the smoke to put it out of its misery. "I don't need it if it would be a hassle... I can wait for my mother's owl, she's usually pretty quick with these things."

Davey just shrugged again.  ”It’s addictive.  Addictive things are hard to stop.”  He had a muggle friend that had been addicted to chewing tobacco at one point in time.  He wasn’t sure how he had gotten the stuff or who introduced it to him.  That stuff was worse then smoking in his opinion.  ”As for the headaches, a message usually helped me.  It loosened up the muscles in my head and it was really relaxing.”  He gave a chuckle.  ”But that would be a little bit strange to do at school.  I usually take motrin or something here.  I hate going to the medi-witch…”

"Mm... I don't know many people who are willing to give me a massage..." He reached up and rubbed his head with the heel of his palm. A few stray ashes falling off the cigarette and flaking into his hair. "Did you say you have Motrin?" His eyes lit up a bit as he looked over at him. "I asked my mother to send some muggle medicine over, bu she hasn't gotten back to me of course..." He did not right out ask for it of course, it would be awfully rude to just ask someone for medication... and he suspected perhaps a bit illegal.

Shrugging, Davey answered, “It could be worst.  I think I’m just tired.  How ‘bout you, Remus?”  He pulled his legs up closer to his chest and placed his arms on them before leaning his head down, making it look like he was going to take a nap sitting up.  He kept his eyes open as he looked out in front of him, breathing in the scent of his clothes instead of the smoke.  ”I never would have taken you as a guy who smoked.  Something on your mind?”

Remus took a deep breath, tapping the cigarette a few times more than strictly necessary before he moved it back to his lips. "I have a headache," he said. The pain was making him a bit more truthful, and it wasn't a terrible thing to admit to. "I have for the last few days... the only way to stop it is go to sleep, and I've been sleeping too much lately." He took another long draw and blew it out slowly. "I've been smoking for almost two years... I'm trying to quit..." He shifted the cigarette between his fingers. "You can see how well that's going."

As he walked around, he spotted a mass on the ground that he somewhat recognized, though they hadn’t talked in a while.  He wasn’t a big fan of the smell that came from the cigarettes either, but he wanted to talk to someone.  He walked over to the Gryffindor and leaned over into his line of sight.  ”Hey.”

Remus heard him walking, foot steps pressing into the grass and crunching the dry ones. It was the sound of fall, of death and decay. Remus stopped, opening his eyes to the gray sky, realizing his thoughts were getting rather morbid. He took a deep breath, drawing it in through the cigarette and letting it out in a long puff around it. He looked over as Davey sat down. The last time he had talked to him he had almost killed him. Even that seemed far away now. "Hullo, Davey," he said, muttering around the fag in his mouth, before he reached and pulled it out, tapping the ashes into the grass. "How are you feeling today...?" He asked more out of politeness than genuine caring.

"Yeah James too. I’m sure the idea would appeal to him actually." Lily couldn’t say it didn’t appeal to her but she didn’t say that to Remus.  "That’s what he told me is they were all a distraction and I’ll never get how he can be distracted by them when he wanted me, but that’s okay. I’m sure he had male needs or something like that.  I think he just tends to think it’s the past but I’d like to know."  Lily looked at him with a sigh. "Is he making you keep it a secret, that you and him are you and him and not just marauders and best mates?"

Remus couldn't help but laugh. "You're right about that, Lily..." He then nodded slowly as he listened. "I could see him seeing them as that... you know, distractions from you... though I know at least one of those he did for the purpose of making you jealous. I was always curious if that one worked though..." He was joking, mostly. Then he shook his head. "No, he's not. I am, that's why it's a little ridiculous..."

"Avoiding my wrath is always a good thing. You’ve seen me spar with James for years. I am a force to be reckoned with if I am angry."  She laughed. "I think that you and I need to run away to the library one day and escape these distracting boys who are hindering our studying.  You know, if we take them there, they’ll just get kicked out."  She nodded. "I guess that’s a good way to look at it.  I just wish he’d tell me how many but he gives me the look that the past is the past. I guess I’d never thought about the future since I don’t see James getting over me next week. I think if you can keep Sirius from kissing people nonstop, it will all work out for you. Maybe you’ll calm him down. You never know."

Remus let out a chuckle. "I don't know, as you said, when Sirius wants something he can buckle down and get it... and I'm guessing that snogging in the library would be something he would be willing to buckle down for... probably best if we didn't bring them." He relaxed. It was nice to have someone he could talk with. Sure, James knew, but he had the feeling that he would not be able to use the words "Sirius" and "Snog" in the same sentence for at least the next few months around him. "I'm sorry that James isn't as forthcoming with the information that you want. To him though you were always the one he wanted to be with though, so he probably doesn't feel like it's that important... perhaps you could try explaining to him why it matters to you?" He shrugged. "If nothing has calmed down Sirius at this point, I don't think anything will at this point. I expect no miracles... As for kissing... well... if he changes his personality completely, people will start suspecting something's up... we can't have that now can we..." He tried to keep the bitterness out of his voice. He did not completely succeed.

"I still say you suck because you got paired with Sirius.  I might like Doc and Emmeline but I would rather be stuck somewhere like that with James."  She shrugged. "Oh I know. It’s James. He’s a horrible influence on me and my mind. I’m sure you know how that works."  She nodded. "Does Sirius’ past with girls bother you?  I know James past bothers me sometimes and he says they were all a distraction, but still. It’s a bit intimidating."

"Well, Lily, I want to say something smug and a little condescending, but I just talked about not meeting with your wrath, so I think I will refrain for now." He snorted. "You think James is a bad influence? I haven't really studied in almost a month, I'll probably drop out of Hogwarts if this keeps up," he teased, an obvious joke. He then paused, his smile fading away, and he shrugged. "Well, I did say you could ask anything..." Another pause. "Yes, it does... I try not to let it bother me... The past is the past and all that... and I guess in all honesty the idea of him being with a lot of women doesn't really bother me. It's really the idea of the future that bothers me. He's been with a lot of women, clearly he likes being with women... maybe someday he'll want to go back to women. I try not to think about it too much though..."
