JayDick Week 2026 — Day 1: Crossdressing

he isn't saying no because he doesn't love Dick or doesn't want to be with him and marry him. he's saying no because of the wedding. Jason explains that he has tried to respect the fact that Bruce and the Batfamily are still important to Dick. but they aren't to Jason. not anymore. Bruce had hurt him enough that he never wanted to have him in his life ever again. and the others weren't exactly safe people for him either.

and Jason quietly confessed that he had always fantasised about his wedding and what it would be like. and it was supposed to be the happiest day of his life with all the people who loved who loved him back. it was supposed to be a day where he could feel safe and happy and loved and relaxed. which could never happen around the Bats.

Jason says that he still wants to be with Dick forever. but he needs to stand his ground on the only healthy boundary he has ever attempted to set for himself. he doesn't want Bruce at his wedding. he might be able to tolerate the other Bats but he doesn't really want them there either. he can't do it.

he won't be able to enjoy a moment of his day. he'll be tense, uncomfortable and on guard the entire time. Bruce makes him feel judged and unsafe and unhappy. and his wedding day is a day he can't handle that on.

he wants to be able to smile and be carefree and emotional when him and Dick say their vows. he wants to be able to enjoy their first dance and goof around and act stupid with their friends. but he knows he doesn't have the ability to do that in Bruce's presence.

so yes, Jason would love to marry Dick. but he can't. because he can't bear to have Bruce at his wedding. and its something he cant bear to compromise on because its not just a minor thing for him, it would completely ruin the entire day for him. and he doesn't want to taint such a special day in their relationship. so while its breaking his own heart to not say yes, he has to.

Dick manages to calm himself down enough to listen to everything Jason has to say and he finds that he can understand. he's seen the way Jason's light dims the second he's stuck dealing with Bruce. and Dick realizes he doesn't want to see Jason like that on their wedding day either. so he makes a decision. he's going to marry Jason and he can start this new chapter of their relationship on this note. he's not going to invite Bruce to his wedding. in fact, hes going to make sure Bruce doesn't come. because for once in his life, Jason deserves to be someone's first priority. and Dick may love the other Bats, but he loves Jason more.

so he tells to Jason that he understands and can respect his feelings on the matter. Jason thinks thats the end of it but Dick continues. he tells Jason that he wants their wedding to be as good for Jason as it will be for him. and if that means no Bruce, that's okay. Bruce Wayne wont be at their wedding. now will Jason marry him?

Dick and Jason have been dating for a while now and finally decided to stop keeping it a secret. but of course both of them are little shits and can't miss any chance to fuck with Bruce and the rest of the Bats so they decide to let them find out from social media and the papers instead of from them.

they go on a public date without bothering to disguise themselves. they dont really change how they interact with each other, just enjoying the date like one of their normal ones. but the definitely get caught by the cameras.

it doesn't take long before there are articles and social media posts about Richie Wayne's new mystery man. since it was so long after Jason's death and resurrection and Jason changed a lot since then, he wasn't recognised.

of course it doesn't take the Bats long after it goes public to find out. with the Batkids being chronically online and Bruce tracking any mention of his kids in the media. and while the media may not have recognised Jason, the Bats certainly did.

like im imagining past Dick who was beefing with Bruce 24/7 and pissed at him all the time, even more so after Jason's death (Tim isnt in the picture yet maybe), and hes suddenly seeing this doormat version of himself that just defends Bruce's actions or goes along with them to keep the family together.

like maybe past Dick is absolutely baffled at how the future version of himself isnt Jason's number 1 fan. because despite being an ass at first, by the time Jason died, Dick had absolutely adored him. so why is future him so okay with Bruce having replaced Jason before he was even cold in the ground? and why does future him even tolerate Tim when Tim was the one who brought Robin back after Jason? and why does future Dick even bother being in the same place as Bruce or Alfred after they both bad mouthed Jason and destroyed his image? why does he still respect Alfred after he spoke badly about Jason who had loved him when he was alive and after Alfred kept turning a blind eye to Bruce's flaws and mistakes?

and why is future him not all over Red Hood? Jason is back and hot and skilled and smart. hes sassy and competent. younger Dick is literally drooling over him and would sell his soul for a kiss. not to mention the fact that Jason's hair dye has grown out a bit and that is definitely vibrant red hair hiding under the black. and that white streak looks so good.

and its not like Jason became some horrible person when he became the Red Hood. he's still introverted, still loves to read, loves to learn. he still cares so much about all the people no one else seems to care about. he loves children. he respects women. he protects people. he still doesn't know how to accept a compliment. hes hard working too.

older Dick gets a serious reality check and realizes how much he has changed himself to conform to what Bruce and the family needed instead of staying true to himself and his beliefs. he had taken on the emotional responsibilities that should've been Bruce's. he contributed to Bruce being the way he was now by not stopping him.
