       hello && welcome! i’m luca and thank you for visiting.  

THE MUSE

      desiderius mathieu is an original character based in the old guard fandom with influences from both the netflix movie and the image comic series.  he was trained as a swiss mercenary and has carried that training through the centuries.  in the modern era he tries to focus mainly on the arts.  his passion is crafting jewlery and playing his violin.  also a note that in his main verse, desiderius is romantically linked to dorothy williams ( @mercyfcrged ) and nathan williams ( @fortunefcrged ).  

THE BLOG

      just some quick notes: my blogs tend to be very slow activity.  plotting is always the best way to get something rolling quickly.  it helps give me parameters to work with.  for me, that helps my muse as it gets a lot of questions out of the way.  or, if you prefer, mutuals can always go through my meme tag and send anything in.

      dis.cord is available for mutuals who would like to get ahold of me that way.  it can be the easiest option since i blog hop.  please keep in mind that i can be slow to respond due to work, family, and social obligations.

          part if him hoped this would get better over the years.  fighting the good fight.  getting down and dirty in the hopes that humanity would better itself.  desi saw himself as on the more imaginative side of the immortals and he couldn’t muster the energy to save anyone.  it wasn’t that he saw war more than anyone else.  quite the opposite in fact.  maybe one day he’d have a decent answer on why he could only join in the violence every once in a blue moon.  until then, he’d do what he could to protect everyone else.

Was it strange that the panic only set in now?  Was it strange, or just sad that she was more afraid of him, of a single stranger with a heartbeat than the horde of the undead that she’d trapped?  

         The living could be cruel. 

   The dead were just hungry. 

         Her breath came ragged and unsteady, fingers clenched tight still into the damp earth, knees and palms smeared with muck and blood, and her head was swimming with the effort that she’d exerted to manifest the brambles and tangling vines that had swarmed up from the ground to ensnare the dozen shamblers that had been trying to corner the stranger, to control the limbs of the oldest trees in range to pierce and hook through chests and abdomens.  The groans and cracking of bones and stench of rotten blood and flesh tearing, slipping free as the knot of life closed around them.   Green seeped through her veins, a flush of it following the contours of her veins through lightly bronzed skin, slowly receding as she caught her breath and tried to still the racing of her heart.   

               “You’re welcome.”  It was sharper than she’d intended, sinking back onto her heels, hands scrubbing against the thighs of worn canvas pants.   “You’ll be good now – anything that gets through the tangle won’t be big enough to be a threat.”  

          desiderious was used to the dead.  as much as it pained him, he was used to being around it.  though, never quite in the capacity that had evolved over the years.  he was nathan’s sword and dottie’s shield.  he’d been his father’s second chance at life and used that knowledge to survive in all those years it took him to actually find his new family.  he’d killed for money, favors, and survival.  but in all those instances the thing he was especially used to was the fact that the dead stayed dead.

          he was still confused as to the how and why that changed.  in retrospect, it felt like the change happened overnight.  one day the world was beautiful.  the next, things were scrambling and trying to bite your head off.

          in searching for supplies he’d been separated from his partners.  things crawled up around him, wobbling.  reaching.  immediate thoughts went to both nathan and dottie, where they were, and how he could protect them.  for a while he managed to hold on to the supplies he’d managed to gather but every turn meant another wall of undead until he had nothing left to do but free his hands and try to go up.

           his rescuer was as much a blur as the situation that brought them together.  head tilts to the side.  curiosity gets the better of him, just like it always does.  sometimes he wonders how it’s still there considering everything he’d been through.  but, desi reaches out to let his fingertips hover over the tangle of thorns that came from nothing.  “ that was beautiful, “ he tries to whisper to himself.  it’s only when he turns back that he notices the green in the younger woman’s veins.  maybe that was the reason behind the sharp edge in her voice.  but, all desi sees is more beauty.  a beautiful heart despite whatever life did to put that steel in her demeanor.

                “and here i was certain my reputation would’ve preceded me,” the words were tinged with something that might’ve been disappointment, might’ve been amusement, might’ve been delight – and a wicked smile danced across lips painted blood red as she slipped closer, the idle flash of a coin dancing in between, over, under, and back again between fingers and over knuckles a pretty little distraction at hip level.  fingers trailed along his form, settling on the knuckles, all too close to white, against the blade, a low, unsettling purr following.  “perhaps it has, no?”  the tip of her tongue traces the edge of her teeth, digging against a naturally slightly sharpened canine, eyes cutting back up to find his.   “are there, though?”  cupid bow lips purse, head tilts.  “I would so enjoy meeting them.”

          light glints from the coin dancing between the other immortal’s knuckles.  for a moment, desiderius wonders if it belonged to malachai.  or, maybe, had been taken off his person.  eyes squeeze shut because he’s going back a little too far in time.  before long the coin turns into a necklace, which then turns into a ring from his very own finger.  a finger that had been severed from his very own person during the longest minutes of his life.

          the fact that he was bothered him to no end.  that he clutched to the hilt of his dagger like it was some kind of savior grated that part of him that had been trained to be a soldier.  desi keeps his jaw clenched and his back straight.  despite what he felt he refused to give anyone the satisfaction of seeing it.
