There were a lot of things that Kelly could let go of. She’d gripe about it (to the commander’s face or to her back was entirely dependent on how much of a death wish Kelly had that day) but she’d eventually get over it, and rather quickly too.
There were a lot of things Shepard did that Kelly could let go of. After it was confirmed that no one was in any more danger, of course. But bringing a spectre onto the ship when they had a Justicar around?
Samara, of course, had her oath to Shepard. But as Kelly had glared at the commander from across the mess hall earlier during the cycle, the yeoman was convinced the woman was going beyond simply making a point of just how much she didn’t answer to Cerberus or the Illusive Man.
Kelly got that. She really did. But if Shepard tried to upset a carefully balanced team dynamic one more time–
Plastering on a smile that betrayed none of Kelly’s desire to take advantage of the commander’s friendship and lock her up somewhere, Kelly answered, “When the need arises."
Nihlus Kryik, turian, spectre, and the latest topic of gossip on the Normandy. Kelly had done her homework, partly out of her obligation to do so and partly out of her own curiosity. She knew of him and his background from what files she’d been able to peruse in a short amount of time–from his enlistment in the military to his near-death at Saren Arterius’ hand.
Shepard sure knew how to pick ‘em…
"It’s hard no matter the species.” When considering the different cultures within each race that could influence different thoughts and decisions, things could get more than just hard. “Though there are a few who can be bit more stubborn than others.”
The turian towers over her by nearly two feet, and the once-over that Kelly gives him is far from subtle. With a teasing lilt, “Why, ‘re you planning on givin’ me trouble?”
"It is less about planning, more about knowing, miss Chambers" Nihlus replied, folding his arms behind his back and bobbling slightly on his feet.
It truly was more about knowing. In fact, the moment he heard the bit about some being more stubborn, he concluded he fit perfectly into that role. The lookover he gave her was a lot quicker, a lot more subtle. He didn’t know it he would have a lot of interaction with her, but it was something to be considered.
“I am to assume you were given a file on me,” he noted with a small sideways nod of the head, sharp eyes remaining fixed on Kelly’s face. The rest of his face remained largely expressionless. “It is a lot to go over. If you have questions...”
He turned his eyes to the ground and shook his head.
“I am unable to tell you everything—some of it is confidential, and you are in an anti-alien organization—but I will attempt to share what is necessary.”
