Author’s note: This is the first part of a two shot I have planned where Silas is older, but when I write for Silas he’s typically gonna be a toddler/child still.

Summary: Silas is nervous about coming out to his parents about his sexuality, and his secret boyfriend has his back as they talk with his parents.

Cleaning Out My Closet

Silas paces around his bedroom as his boyfriend of three months reads his text book.

“Babe, it’s gonna be okay, now come over here and start your homework before your dad gets home.” Julian pats the spot next to him making Silas sigh.

“What if they hate me or something?” Silas frowns at the thought of his parents getting upset.

“Your parents? Hating you? You do realize your Moda is non-binary right? Plus you have plenty of uncles who are either dating or married to men. Trust me, it’ll be okay. Now stop wearing a hole in the carpet and help me with our english paper.” The blonde hybrid smirks watching his boyfriend finally sit down and relax.

“I guess.” Silas takes the text book and reads quietly staying alert in case one of his parents comes home.

Silas jumps up with a start as he hears the garage door opening. He looks around as he realizes he and Julian had fallen asleep doing homework, and now his moda was home.

“Silas? You here?” He hears making him jump up and run out of the room as his parent rounds the corner.

“Hey moda. Julian is asleep.” The nervous teen states attempting to block his parent’s view of the room, “is dad gonna be home soon? I need to talk to you two about something.”

Kai raises a brow curiously looking the obviously nervous 15 year old over to see if there was a hint as to what was wrong, “he’s almost home. Oh I should call him to let him know to pick something up for your friend.” She reaches for her phone, as Julian walks out of the room fixing his hair, “that won’t be necessary, Mx. Mayde. My dads want me to eat dinner at home tonight, just wanted to stay for a bit longer.”

Kai nods, “okay, if you’re sure.”

“I’m sure, thank you for asking though.”

Kai nods waving the two boys to follow them into the kitchen for some snacks. Julian excitedly follows asking politely if he could have some chips. Silas silently follows after closing his bedroom door. He stops short into the kitchen and watches as Julian helps his moda grab a bowl from the tall shelf and smiles.

Navos walks through the front door and pats his son’s side as he passes by setting the food on the kitchen counter, “Julian” he nods to the boy who nods back, “Mr. Mayde.”

Silas took a deep breath and Julian placed a supportive hand on his boyfriend’s shoulder.

“Moda, dad. I have something to say.” He shuffles on his feet nervously, “I’m gay. Julian and I have been dating for the past three months.” Silas looks down speaking in a rush.

“Oh Silas,” Kai pulls him in for a hug, “I’m glad you’re finally ready to tell us.”

Silas blinked, “what? You knew?”

Kai chuckles, “of course we did, teens aren’t really known for hiding things well.”

Silas sighs in relief, “why didn’t you say anything if you two knew?”

Navos chuckles and claps Julian on the back nearly knocking the boy over, “we wanted to wait till you were ready to come out to us. We figured you would at your own pace, and you’d eventually tell us about your relationship as well.”

Julian smiles and leans into Silas who hugs him.

“However, interesting choice of a boyfriend, Birdy, a blue berry? Really?” He smirks clearly teasing the boys.

Kai pulls her son and Julian in for a hug, “welcome to our weird family, Jules.”

Julian chuckles, “thanks, Mx. Mayde.”

“Oh you. Call me Moda or Kai,” they smile, “we should have dinner with your dads sometime.”

Summary: Corvus may be a primarch, but even Primarchs get self-conscious every once in a 1000 years.

Hidden Insecurities

Corvus watched his love move around from the shadows as she went about her day. He had a spare moment to himself, and had decided to take in the sights. He knew how attractive she was as he had witnessed nobles attempt to gain her affection, even before he had attempted himself. He knew she was a rare beauty in a galaxy that was cruel: she was strong, intelligent, and beloved amongst his gene-sons.

Corvus often had self-conscious thoughts about himself he never really spoke of aloud. He knew he wasn’t as nice looking as Fulgrim, or as crafty as Vulkan or Ferris. He didn’t know what drew his love to him, but he thanks the galaxy every day for bringing her to him, and hopes whatever she sees stays in her mind so she doesn’t one day realize she could leave and still live under his loving protection from afar.

He smiled as she glides gracefully through the many throngs of people who were quick to leave her way as she nods in silent greeting. Once she had entered her office he slips in quickly picking her up as he leaves the shadows, “my love.” He gives a small smirk at the tiny shocked squeak she let out.

“Corvus!” She chuckles running her hand across his cheek making his hearts pause momentarily.

“Do you love me?” He asks tilting his head.

“Always, my love. I will always love you.” She smiles as he looks away almost bashfully.

She catches the look in his eyes that she seems only able to read clearly “overthinking again?”

He nods and kicks her smaller chair away as always, pulling his much bigger chair from his desk.

“I love you Corvus, forever and always I swear I will always be at your side.” Rae lays her hand onto his chest swayed by the small show.

“Perhaps, that would be best.” He huffs a slight laugh as he sits down placing her onto his lap.

“It is for me, my Shadow.” She moves her hand up to cup his cheek, “there’s no where in this galaxy I’d rather be, and no one strong enough to pry me from your loving embrace.”

He wraps his arms around her and takes a moment to enjoy her presence, and the momentary respite from never ending war.

Summary: Fabian had been very busy lately and Vykus has felt a bit lonely, and decides to take action.

Fabian Frenzy

Vykus sighs as he watches his mate dash from one side of his sewing room to the other yet again. His mate’s fashion designs had been getting quite popular recently after a local minor celebrity had been seen in one of his dresses, and the orders had been coming in droves. Vykus never really understood the baseline or his bonded’s obsession over fashion, but he had always been supportive of his love’s work wanting him to be successful and happy that is up till recently.

With the uptick of orders Vykus hadn’t been able to spend as much time with his man, and even as solitary as he typically was he missed his man. He spots an errant piece of fabric that had gotten knocked down from the table, and knew his lover would be upset if it got crushed or wrinkled. He quickly gets up and quietly picks it up placing it back onto the table making sure it wasn’t creased.

“What are you doing?!” He looks up at his worried bonded, “you could crease it” Fabian runs over and checks the fabric looking for imperfections in it.

Vykus frowns and backs away a few steps, ‘I was trying to help’ he signed making Fabian sigh again and visibly relax seeing the material was okay, and that Vykus had actually meant to help.

Fabian slowly takes his Raven into a hug and takes a deep breath, “Come lie down with me? I know I’ve been getting stressed, and I’m sorry for ignoring you.”

Vykus leans into his mate’s hug and taps his back twice signaling a yes, before pulling away and walking to their room with Fabian, getting into his side of the bed, and pulling his mate close to him allowing his body to relax.

Fabian grabs a few of their favorite snacks, drinks, and goes to their bed. He carefully sets the food down on his side table, before leaning into Vykus’ larger yet more lean frame just listening to his lover’s heart beat using the solid beat to help his mind relax. Vykus starts to run his hands through the stressed marine’s hair with one hand, tracing random patterns onto Fabian’s back with the other wanting his mate to feel better.

“I love you, babe.” Favian whispered only loud enough for his perfect one to hear.

‘I love you too, my shadow.’ The Ravenguard spells out onto his mate’s back making Fabian blush.

Summary: Kai goes over to spend some time with their adoptive brother and finds something in his front room they didn’t expect to see again.

Old Memories

K’ad had invited his sibling over to his home for the first time in what seemed to be forever. He typically made a habit of spending time with his sibling and their mom every week, but he had been quite busy between his job at the Salamander base, and his volunteering with his legions local orphanage helping tend to the younger children.

He smiles as he hears Kai ring the doorbell quickly going over and opening the door, picking them up into a big hug, “sibling you have made it!” He bellowed out making Kai chuckle.

“of course I did K’ad, wouldn’t miss it for the world.” They managed to get out, before he carefully placed them onto the floor and goes to get some drinks.

“Make yourself at home, Kai.” He waves flourishingly making his sibling chuckle again.

“Careful I may take you up on that,” they replied cheekily as they made their way to the couch. They stop short shocked picking up an old looking ratty dragon plush they had made and gifted to him, “K’ad, you kept this?”

K’ad looks over spotting them holding the object and smiled wide, “of course I did. A being of such remarkable craftsmanship made with love, is worthy of being kept. I wanted to show it to the children at the base’s orphanage tomorrow. We’ve been considering teaching them new crafts, and I remembered you had made that little guy when you were 17.” K’ad carefully takes the plush from Kai holding it tenderly as if made from the finest glass.

“I just didn’t expect it to last this long. I knew it wasn’t the best at the time. I’m surprised you kept it.” Kai sat down on the couch smiling wide happy he still had it.

“You made it for me so I wouldn’t be alone, Kai. This little dragon has been my loyal companion ever since, and I hope to help the younger children make loyal companions of their own this week.” He sat down next to his sibling as they leaned into his side.

“I think they’ll love that K’ad. You have two hearts of gold you know.” They wrap an arm as far around their brother they could.

“You do as well, battle sibling.” He places the dragon plush down onto the coffee table next to his keys to ensure he wouldn’t forget it tomorrow.

Author’s note: wanted to try the July writing challenge for the first time. Not sure if I’ll be able to do them every day, but I’m gonna try.

Summary: Raf makes a new friend, but when he attempts to introduce it to his special one he sees it’s been injured.

Little Bird

Raf was out wandering the woods around his and his bonded’s home when he stopped suddenly hearing a quiet cawing of some kind coming from his right. He quickly turns his head and walks towards the noise cautiously not wanting to possibly startle an animal, before he saw it was a small white fledgling that looked similar to a raven lying on the ground. His eyes widened as he took the sight in, bending down and carefully picking up the young bird, “now little bird did you fall out of your nest?”

Raf stands up and takes a closer look at the nest quickly determining that they were in fact ravens. “Well, you are quite the interesting little raven then. You look different from the others.”

He carefully places the white raven down into the nest next to its brothers and sisters, before nodding smiling happily, “now no more falling out, little one. You aren’t ready to fly yet.” He steps away from the nest wondering if his new little friend will be alright.

Ever since meeting the little white raven Raf had been curious about its health. It had been a few days since he had helped the little one, but his bonded had kept him quite busy. He had convinced his beloved to walk the woods with him so he could show his special friend to her.

“You sure it was over here, big guy?” Griffin asked not really having came this way before.

“Yes, my hearts it is here.” Raf excitedly wandered through the trees. He stops as he hears the same little cawing sound as he neared once again seeing the little white raven on the ground this time injured, “oh no little one.” He rushes over and carefully picks up the fledgling looking it over.

Griffin ran over hearing the worry in his voice, “what happened? Did it fall out?” She kneels down visually checking the bird.

“Must have, but it’s not ready for flight.” Raf furrows his brow deep in thought. He spots a strange look cross Griffin’s face, “what is wrong?”

He spots her sigh and grows concerned. “I think I may know what happened and I don’t believe this was an accidental flight attempt. This little one is an albino raven chick. It is common for the parents to push chicks out of the nest if they are genetically unfit or are albino.” She says as she holds her hands together to hold the raven, but he instinctively pulls his hands away closer to his chest.

“Will she be alright?” He asks concern in his blue eyes.

“We can get her checked out at a wildlife clinic in town. Let’s get her into a box for safe transport. Careful when you walk, hun her wing looks broken.”

He nods as they stand making sure the little bird was safely in his grasp, but not too tight as to hurt it. He smiles down to the bird looking from his retreating bonded to the fledgling nodding once again, “You will be okay, little one. We will care for you.” He quickly follows his love back to their home to prepare a safe transport means for the young bird.
