I’ve learned a lot from my friend the ceramicist: beer always tastes better from a longneck, listening to metal can be surprisingly calming, stretching before work is an excellent idea. Sometimes dreams are a slow burn. Never underestimate the power of deep breaths, or if that fails, a double espresso over ice. Life is best unraveled during long conversations staged in a parked car. Even when the humdrum of everyday life is weighing you down, there is always something to be savoured. Some sunny afternoon off, a dog-eared book borrowed from a friend. The knowledge that the goal you’re chasing is one you’ll probably be in love with forever.
