Excursion into amigurumi
OK, I got my first (and last) amigurumi project done and it turned out so-so.
The original Lizard Coaster is soooo cute; mine isn't working properly. I suppose my yarn was not thick enough after all. The coaster itself is not as dome-y as it should be, so the cute effect isn't quite there.
Its legs go in all directions and, of course, I had no eyes, so I painted them on with an acrylic paint marker.
I am not a fan of gluing stuff on with a glue gun. Does that happen often with amigurumi? As it is a coaster and not a baby toy, I suppose it is OK.
Meanwhile, I realized that the creator has more animal coasters out, if you are interested:
Turtle coaster
Sid coaster
All that being said, I did learn a lot from this project, especially about what slip stitches can do (the feet!). For me, I think this knowledge can be put to better use with crocheting flowers and such things instead of amigurumi. I am just not feeling it.
Next time I say that I want to crochet anything even remotely resembling Amigurumi, somebody kill me.
I am not a fan of Amigurumi, but got lured into trying it by this tutorial for a stinking cute coaster. Now I am sitting here with a 2.5mm hook (the tutorial even asks for 2mm) stumbling through various body parts. That was the first and last time, I swear!
Haven’t had a chance to watch the tutorial yet, but I’m seriously considering making this for my gf’s niece
I am not a fan of Amigurumi, but this is so cute that I seriously am considering crocheting an animal now.

Update temperature blanket
Update on my temperature blanket. This month I had to use my hottest colour and I had to add an even hotter one; otherwise it would have been too much ruby wine red. I used the apricot leftover from the Tbilisi blanket, because it really stands out (those days were awful. It is not the same yarn and it shows a little, but I have to live with that; I need to use what I have.
I hope we won't have too many days over 35 degrees, because I don't have much apricot left and I certainly won't re-order Stylecraft Special DK.
We had a birthday in June and I added cream in the middle of the row to mark that day. I was especially lucky, because it was a popcorn row.
Tunisian crochet attempt
In this blistering heat, the only thing I can do is small projects. Yesterday I bought this tiny device that you can use to treat insect bites. I needed a keychain for it, and I saw a tutorial on YT by Claudetta Crochet for a pretty lanyard.
I have never done Tunisian crochet before and I really have to find out more. My left side looks very different from the creator's. From the comments, I learned that it is super important where you go into for the last stitch and the video wasn't very clear about it (it was clearly not meant for absolute beginners).
I have a Tunisian crochet hook somewhere. It was a gift that came with a magazine years ago and I have never used it. I must dig it out.
Temperature blanket
In May, I started a temperature blanket as a side quest. It took a long while to settle on the colours (how many, what temperature range, which colours, what yarn), but there is a super helpful website that lets you figure out what your blanket might look like with your chosen colours and everything, based on the weather at your chosen location in the past. How cool is that?
I had to adjust my temperature range slightly, and two days ago I had to use the "hottest" yarn already. I might have to add another yarn for yet a hotter range, otherwise the summer might be ruby wine red nonstop, which sounds extremely dull.
The pattern is the Tudum blanket from Ophelia talks Crochet.
The Yarn is Freya from Svarta FĂĄret, bought at Eddna
Mir tut Rudi Völler leid. Wie viele dumme Fragen kann ein/e Reporter/in in einem Interview stellen?
Crocheting garments
Am I the only one who finds crocheting garments boring? I so want to make my own tops, but it is so monotonous and tedious. This top was supposed to get sleeves (more elaborate with shells or something), but by the time I finally got the body done, the thing had been lying around for weeks (for lack of motivation) and I wasn't in the mood anymore. Now it will stay a sleeveless top. I mean, double crochet rounds going on forever with the same yarn to boot? Not for me.

Was für eine super Idee mit dem separaten Strang! ❤️
Beanie and then another beanie
The first beanie was too elaborate for the recipient, so I made another one, much simpler and less conspicuous.
I totally love that yarn, the consistency and the colour change. More yarn in different colours is already on the way.
Both patterns are from Bag-O-Day-Crochet

Working on the Birkin 35 inspired bag by That crochet guy. That is going to be one sturdy bag! But, wow, it is slow going. Only single crochets with 2 strands of yarn, not fun and quite monotonous.

The Final Free Crochet Pattern For Our Christmas Gingerbread CAL, This Week We Will Be Finishing Our Blanket With A Candy Cane Crochet Fring
Isn't that the cutest Christmas blanket? I am seriously considering it, even though I am not THAT crazy about Christmas. It is a free pattern in six instalments on the Sirdar website.
