righteousdisaster:
Snorting Dean shook his head. âItâs probably better you played the Richard Gere role. I donât think the whole Julia Roberts thing fits you very well. But, I have to admit that I would probably die laughing though.â Raising an eyebrow Dean tapped his fingers on the table.  âYou do realize that that line sounds like the worst tagline for a porn Iâve ever heard right? She helped me find the highway and I bought her a cup of coffee. Iâm sure it was coffee Cas.â If Hannah would have been with him Dean figured it would have been even funnier. Of course she didnât have much of a sense of humor however, that was what Dean thought would make it so funny.Â
âWaitâ Cas itâs not supposed to look like Caesarâs actual palace. I think thatâs just the name. Besides most the people there are too drunk and busy wasting money to give a rats ass about the way the building is decorated. Only you would care or notice that.â Dean didnât even want to think about the number of cherubs that were stationed there. To him that was lazy cherub domain. Everyoneâs already there for one reason or another and if it isnât gambling itâs usually loveâ which seemed weird to Dean but, he wasnât going to comment on that. âAt least one of us had some interesting things happen over the summer. I just caused a bunch of crap and didnât care. But, I vaguely remember a horrible karaoke session. I donât even know how the hell I knew the words to the song I was singing.â
âIâm sure Vegas wouldâve been more interesting with you around. The cherubs werenât much help in explaining things, they are just there to do their jobs. And theyâre always working. I would like to see a repeat of your karaoke performance. I didnât know you could sing.â Castiel spoke while noticing that they were nearing the end of the bottle. There was only one or two shots left. âI donât think we should go back to Vegas in the summer. The heat was frustrating and Iâm not usually affected by temperature.â
End of the bottle or not, the bartender was calling last call. They would have to get out of there soon. At least Dean seemed in much better spirits than when they started out the night. âWe better ask for the number for a cab.â Castiel spoke as he looked around and saw they were the only two people left. Once again, he was painfully reminded how much he missed flying.
â complete â
At least he wasnât stuck with an asshole. Pavel had few options at that moment and he was going to stick with the one he believed would be the best. The most logical, if Spock was there. God, he actually missed that Vulcan nowâŠ
"Thank you. And yes, ship is the correct term for it. USS Enterprise."
righteousdisaster
Dean nodded looking in his rearview mirror as the dust kicked up on the road behind them. âSo tell me about this ship-- whatâs it like? I mean if youâre allowed to tell me and itâs not one of those Iâd tell you but Iâd have to kill ya things.â

A Million Little Pieces
âMmm.â Castiel confirmed with a murmur and a quick wink. âAs long as there are no indications that youâre participating in any detrimental behavior, I have no reason to talk to anyone else about your progress.â He explained. âAnd I would hardly call this being âstuckâ with youâ I asked for your transfer.â Castiel had a low patient list at the time and when he read Deanâs file, he offered to take the man next because there was a lot to learn about him. He seemed different than his other patients, perhaps in a good way or at least as a challenge.
âOkay? I think weâve established that I want to be here, will be here and all you have to do is not flake on me.â Castiel smiled and leaned back in his chair. âUnless you want to start a staring contest, I would win, by the wayâ we should talk if youâre going to stay in my office for another 30 minutes.â
âCould you tell me stuff you like? Your preferences on food, music, places, movies? Just anything that I would never learn from your medical file.â
âDetrimental?â Dean laughed âCanât say that I ever do things that are particularly safe. I mean--â Instead of finishing with his train of thoughts though he quit talking. The last thing he needed was to have this guy increase the number of visits he needed. It was bad enough that he still had to come in the first place.Â
Being asked about the stuff he liked was something that no one had taken the time to ask Dean in a long time and in truth he hadnât taken the time to think about. Before he left and now his likes were quite different. He was always a fairly active person before and now he-- was confined to a chair and even if he still was more active than most people he still felt as though he didnât do enough. âThese days Iâm not really all that sure what I like. I mean-- I donât know what-- I havenât given that a whole lot of thought. I like the idea of walking.â That was the first thing that popped into Deanâs head so instead of keeping it to himself he blurted it out and then wanted to kick himself for it.Â
âI suppose you think that sounds rather strange and that I ought to find some hobbies that I enjoy now. Least thatâs what Iâve been told time and time again.â
"Well when Castiel rebelled, he stuck with you" she started, avoiding his gaze. Her hesitation didnât spawn from a lie, more of the shame she felt weigh her heart down. "I have⊠lost my grace and have no one. I knew Castiel and I trust him. Heâs the one who told me to come here afterall"
"I need your help. I need my grace"
âI-- Iâm not sure how you think I can help you with that.â Dean sighed deeply. âWhat do you want me to do? I donât have a never ending supply of grace-- I donât even know where to begin that all that.â
It's Not Natural
{normaltothemax:}
Max felt like hours had passed by the time the man walked through the door. Â Logically, she knew itâd only been a few minutes, that she hadnât sat there for days, anxiously waiting to get some answers, praying that she wouldnât wind up like those other victims. Â The fact that she could be about to have a sit-down meeting with a serial killer hadnât been lost on her.
When he sat across from her, she couldnât help but stiffen, swallowing nervously.  The man was right on both pointsâshe was both paranoid and guilty.  She wasnât supposed to have the pictures sheâd taken.  She wasnât supposed to have been at the crime scenes.  Hell, keeping the pictures from the cops was probably obstruction of justice, even if they had their own photographers.
"Do I look like the murdering type?" Â The guy was like a foot taller than her and built bigger than her brothers. Â Max was no idiot; picking a fight with him would be pointless. Â "And youâll have to excuse me for not trusting you. Â I met you yesterday. Â I donât know anything about you, except that youâre apparently here for work and allegedly want to help stop the murders.â
Okay.  She could do this.  âIf you wanna see my pictures, I need answers.  Starting with who you are and why youâre really here.  Youâre not a cop or FBI or anything.  Otherwise you would have flashed a badge already and you wouldnât have been sneaking around in the woods looking forâŠâ  At this point, she wasnât sure what.
Dean didnât want her to trust him-- not now anyways. If she did he wouldnât think she was very smart. Max seemed smart enough but, Dean couldnât help but wonder just exactly how smart she was keeping pictures, meeting a stranger. At least he could give her credit for it being in a public spot though.Â
âListen sweetheart-- I donât mean to sound like a jerk but, there is no look for the murdering type. Sure people want to think there is because it helps them sleep better at night but, newsflash, there isnât.â
Dean could handle some answers but, he wasnât the full disclosure type. Never had been and never would be. âIâm here because thereâs something out there killing people. Thatâs why Iâm here and youâre right Iâm not with the FBI or the cops. Although I could flash a badge if I needed too.â There was no reason for Dean to give his name yet.Â
Leaning back in the chair he was sitting in Dean cleared his throat. âAnymore questions you want answers too?â
{{ As promised the card. }} "No killing cherubs now Cas."

Itâs tempting to hurt him. Victory has, in this respect, brought out the worst of Apadielâs strength. She could throw him into a wall with a flick of her wrist, pile his bones in front of his feet one at a time without opening his skin. Fill his lungs with the dust of the road, gritty and wet with rain.
But heâd accept it with a smile. Thatâs always been his way. He expects it, probably even welcomes it at this point. This is his fault; of course he should be hurt for it. This is how his mind works, as sheâs understood it.
But Apadiel also knows what will make him more open to negotiations. Not that she plans to negotiate, but this refusal, this underestimating her⊠She wonât have it.
She lifts her hand and balls it into a loose fist, and a scream goes up from the other side of the store. Something crashes, perhaps the sound of a body colliding hard with a shopping cart and sending it skidding out of the way.
"You have three minutes to kill me and save your friend, or change your mind."
The scream that broke the silence pulled Dean from his thoughts. Eyes growing wide he was in shock. The one thing he'd told his group was not to follow him. Why someone was here he didn't know. Once this was over with he'd have to take care of it too.Â
In the moments before the darkness that flashed in the woman's eyes Dean knew what she was thinking. He hoped for it. Death would have been welcome.Â
âThree minutes?â Dean's mind began to spin. In truth he needed to figure out a way to get out of this situation but, if he only had to change his mind in order to save his friend then that's what he'd do. Although he had half a notion to drag this out and make her sweat. Even if it was just a little bit. Glancing at his watch Dean looked at her. âFine-- fine. As long as I know that they're all okay I'll go.âÂ
Dean hated himself so much for agreeing to essentially give up but, it was now to save people.Â

Walking in step with him, Anna took note of the opened door. Rushing did that to you. If you were trying to leave in a hurry, you might not realize your door shut entirely, worried more about getting everything packed and not leaving signs you were there. Not that she knew that feeling at all. They creeped up to the door, Anna peering inside, initially not seeing anything. It looked vacant, as if they already missed the perpetrator. But a quick shadow passed through the bathroom to the right. Anna looked over to Dean, nodding her chin towards the movement. At least they didnât miss them, she was starting to feel the absence of her watch already, no round circle pressing against her thigh as it normally did.
The nod from Anna was barely discernable to Dean. He was too busy trying to figure out if there was more than one person in the room. It would be stupid to this kind of crap on your own. But, most criminals weren't the smartest.Â
Motioning for her to wait outside Dean snuck in. There was fumbling in the bathroom that he moved towards. Muscle's tensing Dean inched forward. Swinging around the corner he froze as he came face to face with himself.Â
âWhat the---â Dean blinked quickly wondering if he was seeing things.
