Ursula’s is the mother of Undyne, a beautiful monster who has never left the wet swamp of Waterfall ever since the monsters were forced Underground. She remains HOPEful, despite all that’s happened to her, and adores her daughter with all of her soul. In a chance meeting with the Royal Scientist though, both of their lives begin to crack every so slightly… little by little…

Okay but before you ignore this drawing for not being Alphys x Undyne or Papyrus x Mettaton let me tell you something.

This drawing wasn’t made having the ship in mind. You see, after having the chance to roleplay several situations with @nmorsecode97 involving these characters and their interactions with others, we came to the conclusion Undyne may have important issues related to her physical appearance what she compensates with her erratic attitude, by deepening some hints the game shows us.

Maybe people believe she doesn’t really care about it, but the fact she actually cares about her look when she plans to attend important situations and she even wears make up at some point could mean we are taking her behavior wrong. Undyne wants to be strong, she has felt in debt with Asgore her whole life since he is like her father, so she wants to be strong enough to protect him and that means protecting the whole place. That may help to forget about her personal problems and issues, but does that mean they don’t exist. No. 

Probably she also needs support, support she doesn’t seek because feels weak doing so. And, if you are insecure about how you look like, how would you feel if someone that’s considered a symbol of beauty told you that you are pretty?

They may understand each other more than you think, taking in mind we all know Mettaton doesn’t cover his face just for a fashion choice, but they did choose different ways to cope.
