            “ --you attempted to bring harm to my students. it’s difficult to believe you won’t try again. ”

multiple times, in fact; each time raine will not soon forget. her narrowed eyes brought upon crossed arms, though she was tensed as if she’d be more comfortable with her staff ready. there was no need to be defensive right now, though that was her natural state when dealing with those she doesn’t trust.

how had they managed to get separated? raine questioned this with every step she took. she even told them to stay put, advice that was clearly not heeded. on their way towards lake umacy, the half-elf had broken off from the group momentarily to investigate a noise she had heard. when she returned, they were gone. after continuing on for a bit, she stumbled upon a stranger; though wary, she gripped her staff tighter and approached.

What.

Why was this woman giving him a lecture on some boring old ruins in a boring old town he was only in to murder someone? It was just a pile of rocks. Who cared about things like that?

(They’d make a nice setting for murdering someone, though, he had to admit that.)

“Why are you telling me this? I don’t care. And I’m not staying more than a day or two anyway.” He knew where the target lived. Scouting wouldn’t take too long, and the actual hit would be over quickly. (And then he had to go back to Terca Lumireis by boat. Ack.)

“ you don’t care ?! ”

her words grew more incredulous at his response, and she didn’t bother to hide it. no matter how short or long his stay was going to be, she couldn’t understand why anyone would be so flippant about such a grand place.

            “ he still refuses to finish his schooling, you know. ”

a sigh resounded, one that was a bit more of a show than a genuine expression of her feelings. by chance, raine had run into kratos while she was travelling. getting past the formalities, she then, of course, spoke about lloyd’s...education habits. no, she wasn’t going to let uniting two worlds, or having his father only recently come back from a comet get in the way of this makeshift parent-teacher conference. 

            “ for your information, this is asgard, which was home to the ancient balacruf civilization. ”

despite the person she was lecturing being a complete stranger to her, she took up a tone that was not unlike the one she would use for her own students. after all, if they were here in asgard, there was no way she was letting them go around acting as if they didn’t know anything about sylvaranti ruins. it was what the city was known for! 

“Years of experience have toughened me up.” Ick. Maybe he really is like a roach. But a pretty roach. The prettiest roach ever. That didn’t look at all like a roach. Can he just be a dragon instead? They live a long time too.

“Excuse me?! A roach?!” Wow. Just wow Raine. WOW. “…Unless you like roaches.”

“Ice… cold…” He makes a death sound. Good going Raine. You killed the Chosen. “I’m gonna haunt the crap out of you now.”

A  heavy wheeze and down he goes we’re yelling timber

“I… think you broke my ribs…” She didn’t. He’s just a big baby.

And there’s a staff, slamming itself into him unintentionally. That’s what he gets for flinging himself with such force at her.
