how on earth did he not notice his own daughter sitting in the same room as he? maybe strange was right, his vision was going bad. he had forgotten his daughter had been sent to this school, granted, without him knowing until she was gone. oh, that was a bad day at arkham. his lips curled into a wide smile, mirroring her own, and he responded, gently, “surprise, emmaline.”
She wasn’t an emotional person by nature, but she was human, and the only living family she had--family that had been in and out of Arkham her whole life--was standing there, right in front of her. Em’s gaze began to glaze over with tears, though she wiped quickly at the corners of her eyes, and pushed from her seat.
