Old Snow, New Year (Drabble)
Old snow crunched under Falknerās feet as he cut across the field to the aviary. Inside, he was greeted by a host of hoots and chirps. He wanted to sit and be with the birds, but first there was work to be done. His eyes scanned the room for his Pidgeotto, who fluttered down when he extended an arm to her.
āHey girl,ā The Gym Leader greeted his PokĆ©mon, but noted how her wings drooped slightly when he pulled a folded envelope from his pocket. āI know itās a long way, but please? Iāll be sending Abe over there soon, so you wonāt have to fly back this time. I promise.ā The reassurances didnāt seem to have a great effect on the bird, but with some cooing and coaxing he managed to strap the letter harness onto her. She took off in a flurry of snow and down, headed to find his father in Kalos. As she left, Falkner thought back on what heād written:
